1. DO NOT USE ROGAINE (or similar)
This is a LAST resort and you are on this for life.
2. Finasteride is an option, but it car have horrible side effects.
My solution for early symptoms is natural supplements that work like finasteride without and side effects like Saw palmetto and beta stinserol.

26 here and my hairline has a terrible combo of receding/thinning. Its not too drastic yet but I use hair loss prevention shampoo called pura d'or or some shit. it actually works because way less hair ends up on my hands after i shampoo it now. Just work out and take care of yourself. baldness is only unattractive if its paired with other unattractive qualities.

28, started thinning around 26 during a big diet, taking finasteride too, it seems to be helping, though not that much for now, maybe 8 months of taking.
I guess I should try those too, I'd love to have my teen hair back, its super weird because I had extremely thick hair, and I still do in the back and the sides, actually have to get it thinned down so it doesn't look weird with my thinner hair on top.
There are other medical causes of hair loss like thyroid issues and things that are reversible. If you're due for a physical it wouldn't hurt to bring this up with your doc.
Its much more likely that its male pattern baldness. You have a couple options, Propecia which is a hormone that can have some very nasty side effects (bitch tits and impotence) and isn't typically covered by insurance. The only other option out there is Rogaine.
Both of these options can regrow some hair, however you really need to think of them as ways to keep what you already have. I had better luck with Rogaine and it actually worked better than the label said. Its only approved to regrow hair at the crown, it says it won't do shit for everywhere else.
I on the other hand had pretty good results with using it all over my head and had some pretty significant regrowth. The problem was that I was using 3x as much of it than I should be and it was getting crazy expensive. The foam worked better than the liquid, and the liquid left a greasy residue in my hair that caused severe and disgusting levels of dandruff.
You need to know something about rogaine, the first 3 months you will shed hair, a lot of it, to the point that you will panic and want to stop. You will grow this back and then some if you continue on with the medication. If you ever stop using the medication any hair that you grew back is going to fall out. As this guy said, you're pretty much on it for life at that point.
I started losing my hair in my early 20's if I did nothing I would have been completely bald by the time I was 30. All I wanted to get out of the medication was to give me a few more years with hair. It'll be gone by 40 if not sooner but I'm okay with that.

I also used some special shampoo and conditioner. Not sure if it has much of an effect but it smelled really good.
Yes once you start you're pretty much on it for life but to me it was worth it.
The propecia luckily did not give me any boner killing side effects either.
Another thing I did, because I had darker hair, was dye it a lighter color so there was less contrast with my scalp.
I'm 38 now and I've long since stopped taking taking the pills and using the rogaine, but if I was young again,the SECOND i saw my hair thinning I would do everything in my power to stop it.
And this might sound stupid but the biggest help I found was REDUCING YOUR STRESS LEVELS. Seriously you can take all the meds in the world but if your high stress 24/7 you're fucked.

happened to me as well, started around 21-22, by the time I was 24 a lot of my hair on the top of the head have become very thin and soft and they don't grow bast very few millimeters, while the hair around the head grow normally.
IMO hair thinning is much worse than a receding hariline, we hot the worse luck man.
They're not coming back, it's over. Those hair are going to disappear more and more, and they will never grow properly. So just go with a buzzcut for now, eventually I'm going to shave. I'm 26 now, I think that in no more than 2 or 3 years I'm going to shave completely. Probably sooner.
