Really getting into ambient lately. Hook a pleb up with some truly good ambient. I'm really a noob to the genre so recommend anything.
Bonus points if I can fall asleep to it.

Grouper has a bunch of great albums, she's very consistent:
A I A: Alien Observer (most popular)
Dragging A Dead Deer Up Hill
The Man Who Died In His Boat
Ruins
All 4 of Gas' albums are great if you enjoy ambient techno (ranked from personal favorite to least favorite):
Zauberberg
Pop
Konigsforst
Gas
First three episodes of season 5 are fucking great
Steve Roach's Structures from Silence is pretty much entry level for anyone, but I came up to the conclusion that Structures from Silence is the logical conclusion to ambient. So if you haven't listened to it, try it.
Adding to Gas because it might be helpful-- all of his albums are very forest-centric. This motif is especially apparent if you listen to Pop.
If this theme is attractive to you, you might want to check out Pop first.
This is my favorite sleepin' album
So did you like the new Samurai Jack episode OP?
Not sure if it's strictly ambient, but a great album with ambient bits anyways. Best listened to in one sitting. I find it relaxing as fuck to just kick back, space out, and just kind of fall into this album.
Secede - Tryshasla
I thought it was great. You?
I thought it was okay, tried not to hype it up too much so I wouldn't be disappointed. Hoping they don't force the flashback thing down our throats in later episodes. I like where it's going though.
I'd recommend Hiroshi Yoshimura if you want some new age type ambient. Someone put up his discography in a sharethread a while back. and all of his stuff is great, but check out Green, Music For Nine Post Cards, and Air In Resort.

Amazing synths/rhodes
>First three episodes

Oh, so there aren't leaks?
no, not to my knowledge.
thanks for this. digging it
Ultimate sweet dream initiators.
this so much
give "biosphere - substrata" a listen
among my favs, very accessible, very picturesque
little taste of it:
this is solid, but idk if id call it ambient as much as electronic
...
Seconding this, underrated album. Nils Frahm collab'd with friends to make it I believe
Something about this album's cover art really captures the tone of it. Guaranteed would have been less enjoyable if it was something else.
>when you don't even remember listening to an album
>it has +60 plays
pic is my favorite album to sleep to
Max, if this is you then you have to stop posting.
here's some of my favorites op
+ pop by gas forgot it
requesting omenya ancient rites
+ Tim hecker
Where does ambient music become electronic?
It seems ambient is more of a quality than a genre and it's pretty loosely defined
I'd argue electronic is a lot more vague of a genre description than ambient.
That's very true. My question was more about what makes an ambient track ambient? Most genres have influences, cultural backgrounds or history, what would that be for the ambient genre?
