I like kairon irse
giving this a shill/rec. not sure if it's strictly /shugazi/ but I would definitely describe it as pretty dream pop-y. bassist is the bassist from Fishmans
Do you guys like Lenny Valentino? I'm looking for more artists like them.
oh shit, I just noticed the copy I used for the share has a bonus track that's a cover of KC's I Talk To The Wind. what the fuck? lol
guys
dumb down how to make vocals like
whirr
slouvaki
mbv
for me
thanks
be a grill
Pinkshinyultrablast are good stuff pinkshinyultrablast.bandcamp.com
Thanks, and double thanks for mega link
no prob. I saw it get recced to someone as being something to listen to if you like Fishmans, and I was surprised at how great it is, might even make it up there in my favorites of all time
So have you guys listened to this yet? What do you think?
I thought it was garbage. Apart from the obviously stolen aesthetic, the shit production, the lame pounding drums, the shitty dated post rock tremolo picking, the shitty halo guitar chord progression, the fact it's a tryhard 25 minute track even though it was obviously all separate tracks at one point, riffs that sound like they were pulled straight from an At The Drive In track, riffs that sound like they were pulled straight from a Smashing Pumpkins track, the half baked emo grooves, again the shitty balance in the production, the repetition stolen from the same source of its aesthetic, the really shitty impersonations of Wata, more Smashing Pumpkins rip offs, even bigger riffs ripped off from Flood (the riff at the end is such a fucking joke it's like come on, were you even trying to hide the fact that this is a blatant rip off of Flood?) and the end result being a perfect mishmash equivalent to a bowel movement (I mean literally when you think about it)
, this album would be pretty good if no other alternative music ever existed.
name?
loopride, umi
sorry, looprider
so a band named after a boris track tries to make an album that rips off boris' flood, but fails in every way
yeah this is v nice, and the bass sorta has the fishmans dub feel
yeah, you can really see the Fish in bass playing
This is the only album that gave me the same feeling as when I first heard Loveless. So underrated.
bump
their self titled is also great
bump
Don't let the best general die
>everyone too busy gazing at their shoes to post
Only 3 songs but they sound really good to me.
The bass on this album is lovely.
Where was I when this came out? damn.
Just be really breathy
what is your favourite shugazi album that you would recommend to every shugazi fan?
i really dont know what to listen to next.
i like noise heavy shugazi, like APTBS.
Curve was never shoegaze, I don't know who let them in this genre.
name?
All natural lemon and lime flavors - turning into small
I agree with him btw, a must listen
Need stuff like Tokyo Shoegazer asap.
Ceres and Calypso as well as V:D:C pretty much sold me on the genre.
Any bands that have a depressive, heartbroken, bleak lyrical themes?
xiu xiu
if we consider them noise pop
Why is this so good?
Are any of their other albums nearly as good?
what's your favorite song on it?
the other albums are great and definitely worth a listen but drop you vivid colours is probably their magnum opus
Top 3 (in no order) is probably:
Sun Ray
Utatane No Hibi (L'ecume des Jours)
Drop You Vivid Colours
I think that luminousorangesuperplastic is better.
Just getting around to this which was posted here a few threads back, very wonderful
youtu.be
Damn, this is pretty good. Definitely reccing it
Only listened to this once but I remember liking it well enough. Really need to revisit it
Thanks, this is awesome.
Also, I kept thinking this album reminds me of the opening to anime "Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko" which the anime wasn't great but the OP was, funny to find its the same band
youtube.com
Is there more from these guys? i'm trying to google them but there's too many bands called Polaris.
here's their RYM:
rateyourmusic.com
I haven't listened to any of their other stuff, but a quick glance shows that you can find it all on soulseek
You just sparked my interest, i love that OP as well. I'll write the band name down and listen to them eventually.
Thanks, I found them on discogs (turns out they were one of at least 32 bands with that name) and it didn't even have all of their releases.
It's not that good
(not true, by the way)
I mean it's ok
Turbo R is really great. I love how extremely muffled and incomprehensible the vocals are. Wish more people also distorted the singer instead of just covering up what would be clear vocals with guitars.
Oh also the title track is 10/10
I get sonic youth-y vibes from turbo R but without kim's trash voice
[reverb soaked bump]
goji-sanpun - s/t
>Shoegaze, Vocaloid, Indie Rock,
youtube.com
mega.nz
are people still interested in this
Autolux - Future Perfect
>Indie Rock, Shoegaze,
mega.nz
Is this shugazi/dreampop?
idk MAN
what do YOOOUUUUUU think
Just a PSA.
It's been a while since one of these things actually made me angry but this one did, good job
>tfw this would be a 10/10 if Gravity's Grave and She's A Superstar weren't cut and they added the rest of their singles
fuck lol
best blackgaze song ever coming through
youtube.com
sorry, meant to post this link
no i didnt, why did you hack my post?
for the good of superior Neige-gaze
underrated post
>niege
so you're saying my link's better because niege?
but both tracks have Neige
Where is Candy Claws?
in the eventual revision
which may or may not happen by MBV's LP4
good stuff
SHUGAZI, I NEED:
Ethereal but clear (not buried in the mix) female vocals. I've been listening to Love Spirals Downwards a lot and her voice gives me chills. Bonus points if they're dynamic and not just mumbly like most shoegaze. I've checked out some ethereal wave essentials and most kind of suck.
idk try this
Have you tried Bel Canto?
youtube.com
I can't explain why but I really like the vocals
oh ok. i just had a quick search on the band and it was niegeless
i'll listen to it then senpai
Their s/t sucks, endless guitar loops that don't even have the trip-hop novelty to keep them interesting.
Lushlife is stupid underrated though, I like it more than any Portishead album
I never understood why Alcest are considered shoegaze. I love them and can see the influence they had on blackgaze, but most of their supposed shoegaze sections are just normal distorted metal guitars playing slightly fuller chords than normal. No delay, reverb, chorus, or normal effects.
all good mayne. You should definitely check it out, .neon (and Lantlos in general) is pretty great
damn those are some good niege screams
is he the one singing clean too? sounds weird in english
Meh I don't like this as much as A Storm In Heaven
Since there's some Frenchgaze discussion happening, anyone listened to the new Heretoir tracks/album? I think it'll be really good, it's heavier than their debut but the songwriting is definitely stronger.
I believe so. and metal-archives only lists Neige as a vocalist on the album
opposite for me desu
Help faggots. I'm sure this gets asked a lot but I've listened to the shoegaze classics, but nothing holds a candle to loveless. Maybe it's just because I'm depressed but no other album was as evocative and stayed in head to the point where I'll randomly start singing its sounds. So I guess rec me some moody, atmospheric, mostly depressing shit?
>depressing shit
say no more senpai
Literally just check this chart
>barlow
>not tangible rays
meant for
oops
it was made before seance came out
how do i shoegaze lyrics, guys?
where do I start with japanese shoegaze
don't put too much thought
Kinoko Teikoku - Eureka
I'd say a good place to start is probably Mass of the Fermenting Dregs, Luminous Orange, or Kinoko Teikoku. pic related ahs some recs
Skip the chaff and go straight to My Dead Girlfriend- hades (the nine stages of change at the deceased remains). You'll thank me later.
FUCKING YES
Hades in the Dead of Winter makes me cum.
Great chart but I've heard most of it
On there the clinging to a scheme, nostalgia for infinity, teen dream kinda sound is what I'm craving, not sure what it'd be called, maybe indie pop dream pop
thank you my dudes
astrobrite - crush
all natural lemon and lime flavors - s/t is p good too
Mercury Rev - Boces first then Yerself Is Steam
Medicine - Shot Forth Self Living
also seconding ANL&LF but adding Turning into Small alongside their s/t
have you listened to Wild Nothing - Nocturne
