Hey Sup Forums. I know this probably the wrong place to ask but need help desperately.
>building first pc >get to the point that I'm installing windows >have disc version but no optical drive >no big deal just get it onto flash drive >get through installation and it has the driver error (no drivers found to install with) >think it's an issue with the usb port so I move it around >after struggling with this I realize it meant the mobo drivers which come with mobo in disc form >do the same flash drive thing with the drivers >go to install again and am in bios >keyboard and mouse aren't connecting >stuck in bios unable to move
They were working fine before this. Tried using a different keyboard and mouse to no avail. Have tried unplugging the ac cord and holding down the power button for a minute and then restarting but nothing.
Any ideas of how to fix? Help appreciated
>pic related is the flash drives and mouse/keyboard in their respective usb ports
Also every time I turn off or try to reset the pc, the bios loads back up and the cursor is in the same place each time
>pic related inb4 shitty Temps and all that

Windows 7? You need to slipstream USB 3.0 drivers into your windows ISO
Mason Stewart
Windows 10. You can bypass the iso stuff by using their installation shit (dunno what it's called) for installing with a flash drive
Jace Mitchell
What's the motherboard?
Jace Young
If you had mouse control in bios before but not now, then you could pop out the CMOS battery to restore it to default settings and that would at least fix that issue

Should have stated this originally but it's an msi motherboard and I'm installing windows 10. If any other specs are needed to help more accurately I can post em.
Also it's not an issue with installing or anything like that. Just my mouse and keyboard won't connect or something like that. So I can't do anything in the bios.

Haven't tried this yet will give it a shot. Thanks a ton
Hunter Young
Connect keyboard and mouse to USB 2.0 ports if it has any
William Hughes
It completely slipped my mind when I was buying it. First time buying and building though so I'm allowed a few fuck ups right?
Kevin Wilson
I've made sure they are specifically connected to usb 2.0 so that's not the issue but thanks

What's the chipset? I assumed it was z170

Granted they aren't that expensive but it's not really a big deal to skip it since almost everything is downloadable these days. Not really a big enough deal to warrant your sense of superiority
Aiden Evans

you're a fucking retard for not getting one why gimp your self if you had one you wouldn't be having this problem also windows 10? you should go return that now and who the fuck buys windows like what are you doing
I would return all your shit of parts get the 300 you spend and buy and xbox
use your phone for Sup Forums and porn
and scratch any hope of have an iq over 75
William Rivera
Remove battery from motherboard for like 30 seconds. It should flash BIOS considering it's not a super old MB.
Kayden James
wrong board
11 year old in Africa can do this
Aiden Reed
>not really a big deal >skip it >everything is downloadable
Sounds like you're having no problems then.

I'm not OP

what fucking idiot doesn't get an optical drive
literally what are you going to do if you don't have Internet
and yes everything is downloadable but everything can also be put on a fucking DVD or Blu-ray
go out to the store and buy one

Post mobo model#
unplug everything, mouse, keyboard, drives, everything. boot pc. does it go back to bios? then plug in mouse and see if you can move it.
Christopher Anderson
you could take the optical drive out of whatever computer you used to move the cds over to flash drive and put it in your new build long enough to install the drivers and windows. thats what i would do. hell even if it's from a laptop that's what i would do. course i tear apart laptops for fun in my spare time

op is 8-9 years old, his parents thought giving their over weight child a hobby would be good.
but like every parent they didn't trust his outrageous build so they told him to make it cheaper
he decided not to get a cd drive
he can't tell his parents the build isn't gone well because not only did they threaten to take away his mountain dew but they also said they would return his parts and buy him a mac
Brandon Lee
Did you get your stuff working in bios yet?
Jackson Sanchez
i guess kid could just go with ubuntu, be a good learning experience. plus it's free you just gotta learn what the fuck you're doing personally never had the patience for it
Adam Walker
>get through installation and it has the driver error (no drivers found to install with)
you probably just didn't finish the install, the OS should still come up even without drivers
also anything after windows 7 should have enough drivers to get your connected to the internet
Nolan Harris
I have been using Ubuntu but does to monitor issues and stability issues I'm switching to Win10
I'm ready for you Linux butt lovers, there's no driver support for it
Dominic Harris
you should try Sup Forums
Adrian Torres
>this entire spiel a-user-kun... how? how did you do this? in all seriousness I don't even know where to begin. Not really enough info to tell, but my advice is just redo the install. It can't hurt, and chances are you just fucked something up and reinstalling will fix it. Any further problems are gonna be a driver issue.
Jackson Scott
I have one in mine personally, but it slows down the boot time by at least 5-7 seconds when it seeks, so i leave the power cable unplugged and i just connect it if i need it
Christian Evans
Wait... what type of hard drive are you using?
Cooper Hill
like i said, never had the patience for it. allright i say if you can get ahold of a disc drive from almost anything you should be able to mount it in the chassis even just temporarily to install from the disc, cause what i feel like happened is that for some reason (DRM) not everything copied over to the flash drive
Caleb Mitchell
No brah, this has to do with your HDD. Is it a PCIe SSD?
Adrian Stewart
you have to delete system 32
Camden Bailey

Brandon Russell
Wow I took your advice and my computer boots up so fast now!!
Evan Myers
lol what? calling an HDD a SSD?
Ryan Garcia
since everyone else is trolling.... reset cmos. sometimes youll have a button for it on your mobo, if not take the button battery out for 10 sec and replace then reboot.
and jesus fucking christ user never pay more than $30 for windows. legit manufacturer keys are cheap. kinguin.net.
Nathaniel Russell
Is that site actually legit? Other sites sell windows 10 OEMs like $10 below the home version. How do they have it so cheap?
Hunter Morales
Just referring to the Solid state drive as a Hard Drive.
To me OP can't access bios because the hard drive detection is getting stuck,
Same with the windows installation, that driver not found error is because there's no hard drive to install windows (thinks there some type of scsi or unknown raid configuration).
Then I'd also do this:
Adam Lee
OP said the USB wasn't working in bios not that it couldn't be accessed.
Henry James
I think he can't even access bios:
>go to install again and am in bios >keyboard and mouse aren't connecting >stuck in bios unable to move
He needs to carefully disconnect that SSD from the PCIe slot (if that's the case) then try to access bios again. If the keyboard and mouse move, then we know where the error is.
Hudson Martin
>op here
Thanks for all of the tips and help Sup Forumsros. I was able to get out of the bios and into installation again after messing with the cmos battery and jumper.
To those saying "Sup Forums pls go" that board is too slow to expect any helpful replies any time soon so I came here.

download the install from microsoft website, install with the file.
