OK Tier

Bad Tier
>Danny, the Champion of the World

Lower than shit tier
>Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)

>Lower than shit tier
>>Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)

Not only was it more faithful to the book, Dahl hated the Gene Wilder version

Everyone forgets about pic related because it doesn't have any accompanying Quentin Blake artwork but it's great and the Gruncher scared the shit out of me as a babby

Charlie 2005 is a bad film though, eat my ass. I don't care what Dahl thinks, I'm not ranking them as accurate adaptations but rather how well they made a great film out of his source material. Strictly following the source material, no matter how good, doesn't always allow for or translate to a better film.

Special effects on James and the Giant Peach are really lovely and nice, Burton did a good job of making it visually interesting and colourful, unlike with some of his later stuff. Though he's clearly got a 'type' when it comes to young male protagonists because the kid in this is a spitting image of Highmore.

doesn't matter what he thinks
the 1971 is masterful, the pure imagination scene is so tragic

WTF

who /VermiciousKnid/ here?

>2005 version is bad

What are you, a faggot?

Burton didn't do this. It was Henry Selick who directed Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline
