She's just very clingy and kind of stupid, so it makes Butch (Bruce Willis) show a soft protective side....
Good movie. I haven't watched it in at least 5 years, maybe 10. Well overdue for a rewatch, methinks.
When it first came out in 96, I watched that movie so much I had virtually line for line memorized. Then it got dull so I shelved it for a long time. At the time, there was no movie remotely like pulp fiction.
A lot of things that are commonly done now like having several divergent stories woven together, an odd timeline that doesn't just run beginning to end... I'm pretty sure it was new and revolutionary at the time. And Quentin's style was brand new to the world and it was very different than anything ever seen before. And the usage of music, where many of the scenes were virtually choreographed (without actually dancing) to the music and the eclectic mix of old music used by a new movie was very unique at the time.
It was the Times magazine cultural phenonmenon of the year because there was nothing else like it. Now there's over 10 Quentin Tarantino movies and many knockoffs copying his style like Robert Rodriguez... so his movies are good, but not in the revolutionary way of his early ones.
But I could totally see a young person watch it and wonder what's so special about it. Just like someone watching Gone with the Wind and not know that it was a cultural marvel at the time.
