For discussion: Which albums did you root for in the first round? Which albums did you root for in the second round? Which albums did you root for in the third round? Which albums are you rooting for in the fourth round? Which album do you think will win and why? How often should these tournaments take place?
Kid A and Pet Sounds must advance! Get onto it, anons!

Every year or every half a year, I'd also like to see genre essentials with these.

Can someone here explain Laughing Stock? What makes it so beloved?
Jaxon Harris
essential album in the development of post-rock
Christian Scott
I can't fucking believe Spiderland is almost losing
Henry Taylor
shut the fuck up you cuck
Andrew Hernandez
it's suppose to lose because it's post-rock
Jackson Jones
FUCK THIS NOW
Literally 7 of the 8 albums that SHOULD be winning are somehow losing
John Peterson
I'm coming in late to this thread. How were the first round albums decided? Is single elimination really fair?
Jaxson Walker
And which one is the one that is winning?
Dylan White
I really hope Loveless makes it all the way but I have worries about it facing off against ITSCOCK
Josiah Sanders
>shitterland and waifuless have a shot at winning this
Carson Reed
Honestly now that Fishmans is already out there isn't any album i can root for. Maybe King Crimson lol.
I'm only really following this to see if we both radiohead albums will face against each other, srry
William Reyes
Well it *was* Pet Sounds... :(
Jack Brown
Fuck Lou Reed, vote LYSF Such a better album
Liam Roberts

Loveless is suppose to win but this place is filled with white 17 year old smelly virgins who consider 21 pilots their guilty pop pleasure so it's pretty much doomed
Jayden Scott

Person with different opinion* If you think Banana isn't an album cherished by every single hipster normie since Brian Eno jerked it off you are deluding yourself
Jayden Collins
obviously the one who cry every night listening to post-rock because they will never get laid
Anthony Carter
that's the opposite of pleb dude
partricians are fucking losers we all know this
Ryder Taylor
what does that have to do with the music you stupid asshole?
Jacob Rodriguez
patricians are losers who don't cry about girls and hatefuck them
Zachary Scott
idk wat im more mad about. the fact that spiderland made it this far or the fact that banana is probably gonna beat LYSF
Dylan Scott
Nothing, he just bases his musical opinions on what looks the best on his 3x3 scrobbles when he shows his friends
Austin Powell
rape=/=hatefuck
Andrew Green
he's just a baby (14 years old max)
Dylan Brooks
Pet Sounds is overrated as fuck. Not even the best album from the late 60's. Spiderland is one of the best post-rock albums of all time and one of the best albums of the 90s. And Banana is better than LYSF. F# A# Infinity is better. Even if we're not going by actual quality TVUN is still better. It was one of the most influential albums of all time and was one of the first to explore darker topics.
Matthew Walker
It means if you're really shallow enough that you're going to vote albums based on what is or isn't normie you chose the wrong one. As for the music, Banana is a snoozefest and you would have never heard of it if it wasn't so acclaimed. And if you did you wouldn't like it. Admit it. Sick projection
Justin Jones
MORE NORMIES REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Kevin Torres
>Sick projection it isn't projection if I don't have friends retard
Brayden Jenkins
Final round is going to be ITCOKC against ITAOTS
:^)
Bentley Price
Oh shit you got me. I don't think I'll ever recover from this, time to kill myself
Brayden Cook
Spiderland vs Loveless :c)
Aaron Diaz
Wanna bet?
Evan Long
It'll be Loveless v ITCOCK or Loveless v Spiderland
Noah Price
If it comes down to that Loveless will win. Loveless is the only Sup Forumscore album that is pretty much universally liked, not only on Sup Forums but elsewhere. Scaruffi, Christgau, RYM, Fantano, and Sup Forums all agree that it is fucking GOAT.
It's accessible enough to be enjoyed by the less experimental tasted but with enough depth to appeal to "Patricians". Spiderland is one of those things that are very polarizing and everyone has a pretty strong opinion on it.
I still love both though.
Aiden Ramirez
Influence does not equal quality.
Banana had a tremendous amount of influence sure. So did a zillion other albums that aren't here. As far as musical quality LYSF effectively ended a genre, every post rock album that came afterwards sounds like shit next to it. F#A# is great too but they hadn't found their sound yet.
I highly doubt anyone voting Banana can genuinely say it is a more emotional album, they're just voting what they think they're supposed to because critics love it.
Here is the new poll for future threads like this. Allows for multiple choices. strawpoll.com/r925dc8
Joseph Perez
I voted for TVUN because I like it more. Post-rock was fucking dead by that point anyway. All the best post-rock albums had been released by that point. Spiderland, Agaetis Byrjun, Spirit of Eden. I think LYSF is more emotional though TVUN has its moments (Sunday Morning, Heroin) but I don't equate amount of emotion to quality.
David Hughes
thanks for the quality contribution
Jackson Murphy
how about we do one like this next week with different albums instead of fucking 2019
Noah Hernandez
>Rooting for at first 666, The Downward Spiral >Rooting for now LYSF, It Cock, Kid A >Who will win Kid A or Loveless >How often should these tournaments take place Not very often, all this is doing is affirming Sup Forumscore and making people extremely butthurt. I agree with others that genre specific tournies would be cool though
Aiden Jackson
Thanks for the cringey sarcasm.
Blake Gutierrez
We could count the annual ones as votes for a reset after this one. I just figured 2019 since it could be a big event and we'd kind of close out the 10's with it.
Ryan Kelly
you're welcome faggot
Easton Hill
Pet Sounds is mega overrated
Gavin Garcia
not everything that's overrated is bad you fucking normie
Gabriel Long
Fair point. I would argue that GY!BE perfected the post rock sound with LYSF alongside the other great second wavers (Sigur Ros, DMST, etc). It was a logical procession from Talk Talk and Slint > Bark Psychosis > Tortoise > GY!BE. After that it died with EITS and the crescendocore clones.
Like everything else in this tourney it's going to come down to personal preference. The emotionality is what makes LYSF a better album to me but I respect your opinion.
Asher Taylor
>Scaruffi, Christgau, RYM, Fantano, and Sup Forums all agree that it is fucking GOAT. That's literally all of the albums in the final round you blind idiot. >inb4 "muh scarufffii or christgua didn't like it!" They don't matter you faggot
Luke Bailey
it develops a pleasant, open-ended atmosphere with sparse instrumentation and vocals in a way that few albums had done or have replicated. I think the lyrics are well written, not that I care much about lyrics, and what few melodies there are carry well from track to track
John Clark
>sigur ros >great
kill yourself
Josiah Hernandez
it takes a strong man to rape tenderly desu
Josiah Adams
Tell me why Agaetis Byrjun isn't an 8/10
There's 2 dollars in it for you if you convince me
Noah Morris
Everyone voting for radiohead is either underage or came from reddit
Dylan Davis
I though i'd forgotten to renew my "Sup Forums+"™ subscription for a second.
Aaron Harris
we're talking greatest of all times, all of these are good albums. Pet sounds may be great, but it is both overrated and not the GOAT
Gavin Parker
No
Alexander Bell
ITAOTS vs. Loveless
Who do ya got Sup Forums?
Alexander Morales
ITAOTS of course
Thomas Walker
ITCOTCK has a really really good chance of winning.
Isaiah Lee
I'd say they're pretty much at the same level, but if i were to choose, probably Loveless
Daniel Wood
this
Leo Murphy
Loveless. It is even more loved (ironically) on Sup Forums than it is given credit for. ITAOTS on the other hand is loved but memed so hard no one wants to see it win.
I think if Loveless snags this from OKC it probably wins the overall tournament.
Blake Gonzalez
also mega overrated. Have you guys heard it or are you just memeing?
Noah Clark
The final round is gonna be ITAOTS vs MBDTF
screencap this
Caleb White
It is the best Sup Forumscore album you stupid idiot. Good vs evil?
Tyler Jenkins
MBDTF has a good shot for the final four but it'll be shot down by Pet Sounds, Remain in Light, or Spiderland Loveless is memed pretty hard too and ITAOTS is also well-loved
Jacob Lee
>best Sup Forumscore album
that's loveless
Liam Mitchell
ITAOTS is the underdog this year. A big part of me wants to see it win.
Nolan Williams
this.
Austin Walker
projection
Isaiah Gray
Definitely Loveless
Wyatt Johnson
Oh god please no
Tyler Moore

Cooper Cox

If OKC beats Loveless I'm gonna have to bust some fucking heads

Jason Gomez
feel free to argue. I think the melodies are boring and the instrumentation average.
Jason Garcia
Sup Forums has shit taste, why am I not surprised..
