I only have like one week's worth of Japanese knowledge so I have no idea what to even say.
A couple of (literal) ugly dykes have made claims through the WWOOF feedback system that my current host sexually harassed them during their stay.
I just spent a good part of an hour consistently destroying every claim they made, in public on the feedback page. I also reported them for slander to the WWOOF Main Office.
The amount of dedication my host has shown to his terminally ill wife makes the thought of him sexually harassing someone completely ludicrous.

In my experience, all Japanese people are friendly face-to-face, but rural people tend to give more of a shit because gaijin in the rural areas are rare.

When I think of friendly, I think the neighbors would frequently speak with each-other, and invite each-other over for dinners and outings. They want to spend time with each-other. Are any parts of Japan more likely to have that kind of relationship with their neighbors than others?

I've only been in rural Kyushu, but my hosts often had friends over for dinner, and also went over to others for dinner.
