Guys, can we get an 80's light-hearted action films thread?

Guys, can we get an 80's light-hearted action films thread?

Stuff like Schwarzenegger flicks, RoboCop, Beverly Hills Cop, shit like that. I need to grow my collection of essential /80score/

running scared with Billy Crystal and Gregory hines, and of course Cobra.

both great suggestions

The Hidden is another underappreciated action classic

Recommend me a good 80s cop movie.

Fifty/Fifty or Double Force is from 1992 but it sure feels like the 80's.

...

Why in the fuck would you watch this over-masculine garbage?

Quiet you ken doll.

>Being a nu-male
>2016

Maniac Cop is a lot of fun. Its more known to horror fans than action fans, but its basically an action movie in horror movie clothes, sort of like the Charles Bronson movie 10 To Midnight a couple years before. Plus, it stars Bruce Campbell and Tom Atkins.

Nighthawks
Colors
Code of Silence

HOLY FUCKING SHIT is this even on DVD?

Cop, starring James Woods.

For the most part it feels like a more violent and vulgar feature length episode of an 80's cop show but James Woods' sleazy and scummy performance elevates it into something great. One of the most based endings ever.

Nighthawks starring Sylvester Stallone

Thank me later.

Tango & Cash
Over the Top
Lock Up

>Lock Up

Underrated as hell. The Bill Conti soundtrack is great too.

First 3 Die Hards
All the Death Wish movies
First 3 Rambos

Big Trouble in Little China
I want to say Escape from New York but that one's fairly dreary really.

Minimal action, more of a comedy but essential 80's core. Oh and Lethal Weapon of course.

Honorable mentions
>Big Trouble In Little China
>Tango and Cash
>Roadhouse
>48 Hours

I think this came out in '91 but it really feels like an 80's movie.

Red Scorpion

I want to say Dark Angel (alt. I Come In Peace) but that was 1990.

Stop or my Mom will Shoot!

Over the Top
Red Dawn
Missing in Action
The Running Man
Bloodsport

I'm going to break my own rule and strongly recommend this movie to all of you: imdb.com/title/tt0107076/?ref_=nv_sr_2

It's fucking fantastic, Lance Henriksen and Arnold Vosloo are top tier.

It also features some neat backstory about how Lance's character was supposed to have an additional 20 minutes of screentime to flesh out his story, but Van Damme refused to let them keep it in because "People are paying to watch a Jean Claude Van Damme movie."

I'm very disappointed that no one has posted Predator yet.

yes lets post the movie that literally everyone knows and everyone has seen and everyone has talked to death. that sounds like fucking fantastic idea.

>Read OP
>"Stuff like Schwarzenegger flicks"

Pretty sure everyone's aware of his stuff.

Totally forgot John Woo directed this.
This is a fun time.

Over The Top needs to be seen by every man, woman, and child.

Still could have posted it.

>he will die in my life time

Goddamn, I wish it were the 80s again. I'd appreciate it much more.

another great time

Love JJL she kicked ass in Hateful 8

Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger
July 30, 1947 (age 68)

Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone
July 6, 1946 (age 70)

Clinton Eastwood Jr.
May 31, 1930 (age 86)

I will cry manly tears when these three are gone.

More Sam Ellikino

Road House is always comfy

I just watched Runaway Train because I watched that Cannon Films documentary recently. Watching their movies today is a lot of fun. Last week it was Breakin', hope I'll have time for the Death Wish movies next week.

This movie is hilariously epic/comfy. I love the goons that say stuff like "Prepare to die!!"
Pic related is a great thriller.

The Hitcher is great. Here's more based Rutger Hauer, though it came out in 1990. But really, the '80s action movie' really didn't come to an end until its last hurrah with Demolition Man in 1993 before Terminator 2's influence completely took over and the bloated 2 hour + action epic became the norm.

The Exterminator was sleazy fun, though the ending was total bullshit.

I loved this movie. Both Arnold Vosloo and Lance Henrickson were brilliant in it.

No Bruce Willis, user?

Not really 80s but it's in that style, saw it today and loved it.It has nice comfy snowy mountain setting

Make Movies Great Again

The movie was absolutely amazing 10/10

I don't I feel if it had more drama and non action it it , it would feel bloated like face/off

That did not need to be two and a half hours

Absolute classic

This is probably the most underrated movie of the 80s

Very clever writing, great action scenes although they were rare.

The soundtrack is just so goofy.
Rest of the movie is fantastic though. Never becomes too outlandish.

It was directed by the same guy who made Beverly Hills cop, so I guess tthey tried to do the same with this movie regarding the theme song.

You know in Beverly Hills cop the theme song just plays really loudly all the time

I didn't know he directed it! Weird, because I never like Beverly Hills Cop.

Around this time of period, a dude made this film, Martin Brest was on the top of the game. The others like "Beverly Hills Cop" & "Scent Of A Woman" are so good. Adding "Midnight Run" to those, every film buffs out there gotta watch those.

It won't quite be exactly what you're looking for since it's less of a good time and more of an insane take on the buddy cop and action movies in general, but To Live And Die In LA is one of the best 80s movies I have ever seen and I can't recommend it enough

...

Already posted but that poster is dope so who cares.

...

Such a hidden gem

I still love the line "I used to fuck guys like you in prison." Gets me every time.

>KUMITE KUMITE KUMITE KUMITE.

Speaking of John Woo...

there is nothing Light hearted about Robocop

The Last Boyscout.

Delta Force is a classic and has a rockin' soundtrack.
