I worked with the homeless community for several years. Ran a nonprofit and even taught bible studies on the street. Even spent a week living under a bridge just to see what it was like. And where were the Hispanics?
They were crammed up in a house so small that 30 of them took shifts being home while the rest sat at a day labor place waiting for work. They shared ID's... one legal beaner would share his/her ID with six or eight others and they'd do day labor gigs as much as possible, wash dishes at a local diner, cut lawns, whatever... the "same" person would work 80 hours a week and make $30K a year, half of which they'd send to family south of the border (cash, usually).
It's easy to pay $600 rent when you split it 30 ways.
