The patches are good to curb the edge. It will help reduce with being snappy. You just have to lower the doses when youre ready.

Switch to American Spirits for three months before quitting to halve the withdrawals. The chemicals in mainstream cigarettes withdraw harder than the nicotine, but American Spirit has like 5X the nicotine of other cigs.

Quit with a modified cold turkey. Start by reminding yourself every time you take a drag how you're killing yourself and how disgusted you feel. Keep building up this disgust and internalize that until you feel sick of it. As you do so, limit the usage day by for at least a week, then abruptly stop. You will then need lots of gum, a healthy outlet to vent frustrations, and a sense of commitment and determination. The gum will fix your want of something for your mouth, the outlet will keep you from getting too pissed and stressed when the withdrawl symptoms take hold, and determination will keep you on the path to quitting. It takes three weeks to break a habit or addiction, but with cigarettes you may find cravings months after quitting. The best course of action is to remind yourself of why you quit and remember it's not worth it.

There is/was a black box warning for suicide but recent research that's come out in the past few months is pointing toward there not being a link with that.

Visit a flotation tank. I smoked a pack a day everyday for 15 years. Then I started floating in sensor deprivation tanks once a week for ninety minutes. As you lay there with no gravity sight or sound you realize the only thing keeping you alive is the oxygen entering and leaving your lungs. You'll not want to inhale poison afterwards. I quit after first float and just got nictorrette lozenges for cravings. Haven't smoked in three years.

It takes 2 1/2 - 3 days, then you are no longer addicted to the nicotine. It is gone, and you no longer have withdrawl symptoms. Sleep for a long weekend, and you are no longer hooked. Now convince your stupid troll brain of this. it was easier than i thought. 35 fucking years.

Well, firstly, get some will power. But now that we have that out of the way....

Most people who are regular smokers (pack a day or so) have a few routine cigs. Ex. After meals or after McGyver.

Identify those cigs, stop those specifically. If you stop those, you'll stop smoking. It might be hard to ID the trigger ones at first, but you'll notice them if you really think about it.

Might be driving, morning, drinking, whatever.
