The ACH is a close in assassin mech. You can use it as a light hunter, but Stormcrows do the job faster. And again, I recommend the TBR over the EBJ. Its faster, more nimble and runs less hot.

TBR was the other choice, it's just that they're so damned expensive. And, given that most servers are Heavy-heavy, I thought about going Assault (since it's only a few extra mil).
I guess the end goal is to build a dropdeck, so would it be better to take an Assault or a Heavy with that in mind? I can learn to play Assaults.

Assaults and heavier Mediums. Though a TBR can do as much work as an Assault at times. They're worth that extra cash. And drop decks are limited to weight. You need as much as possible. Until you can earn 2 Kodiaks at Elite then the TBR is a better choice. Keep in mind that Clan XL 400s are expensive.

60 kph for an Assault is good. And the Spirit Bear can have a max speed of 97.7 while having the armament of an Atlas. Engine sizes also affect torso turn rate and maneuvareability in the legs. Weapons on the KDK-3 are heavy asf too. Either 2 UAC5S and 2 UAC10s (13+ tons of ammo) or 2 Gauss 2 PPC (Less ammo, fill the gap with a TC5 for fast asf projectile speed). They bump down to 395 for the Gauss build but you still need to turn / poke effectively. No one outfits it with full hardpoints because that would run way too hot or not have near as much punch.
