What would Sup Forums recommend for a powerful PC? I've got around $1200 to spend and I've been looking at Cyberpower, except I hear the graphics card takes a shit on you every now and again.

best rig on the market

US or somewhere else? I'm from Aus but i have heard some really good things about ibuypower. You building it yourself or looking to get prebuilt?

Get a gtx 1080, intel I7 7700k, for the ram, mobo psu and the rest is up to you.

That should crush anything you throw at it.

just build something yourself. check out logical increments for a helpful guide.

Why would the system builder have anything to do with a graphics card cutting out?

THE NEW OMEN X

tech fag here and can confirm 7th gen is a fucking scam. Hardly any improvement in performance. 1070 is much bettter for the dollars it costs.
Done both 1080/1070 builds and the 1080 gets roughly an extra %10 better score in benchmarks. Firestrike 3dmark ect. Extra $300+ dollars for 10 percent isn't really worth it imo.

use a lga775 to lga771 with a high end xeon and a good overclock with a 1080 with at least 8gb of ram and you should have more than enough computing power for literally anything you want to do

also the 1080 is really meant for the HTC vive and running VR

why would you there's no advantage to using a xeon for gaming.

ibuypower snowblind. Saw it in person its sexy

Don't listen to this guy, get yourself a 6700k and a 1070.

Xeons are not very good for gaming/performance. 2011-v3 series are best chip for performance. Considering 7th gen 1151 is pretty much just the last release 2011-v3

saw a video of this computer on their facebook. Looks beautiful

inb4 a bunch of fags that thinks building their own computer qualifies them as system engineers

Yeah, the gigabyte cards with the 5.25 expanison bay for front ports are a really nice idea. However when i built with one of them recently in the 750D it gave me nothing but headaches.

idk about the rest of the guys in the thread but i'm a fully qualified tech.

LCD case, interesting.

Nothing can be proven based on words on Sup Forums

So I can be safe with an R7 or R9?

Timestamp with store server and stock prove anything?

buy a macbook

prove it, post dick pic

Proves you work at a computer store, I did that in high school

This is easy...
cpu -> i5 6600k
gpu -> gtx 1070
ram -> 8 to 16 gb, crucial and gskill are solid
ssd -> 2x 500GB Samsung 750 EVOs in Raid0
mobo -> Asus A or Pro series OR Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5
psu -> EVGA 500-750 watt (depending on if you ever plan to SLI)

Depends which actual card. r7 series great. The r9s ive worked with have still been a quality product. 390x was and is still a really nice card. However at the moment AMD really isn't doing anything to compete with Nvidias 1000 series cards. If you have a 390 keep it. Otherwise if you only have a 270-370 probably look at a 1070

ahah fair call man.

1070 or 1080. Honest opinions. I do plan on getting some vr equipment soon.

If only doing gaming i'd say 1070. If you are going for VR though the 1080 has extra grunt so i'd say go for a 1080 for a really solid VR experience for the next couple years.

faggot nigger here playing mechwarrior online using a top end pc. only I think my CPU is a bottleneck... it's an AMD 7700k. MWO runs only at about 45 fps and dips lower than that sometimes. not happy. Is it my CPU? can't possibly be my dual rx 480's

wait for this if your going to buy a desktop. Or build one.

IBP is pulling lots of moves in esports.

Get an intel i5. Core i7 at the same frequency performs the same in games. Go here to compare two graphics cards anandtech.com/bench/GPU16/1489
Lookup a youtube video on how to put it together. If you don't want to do all that, buy Ibuypower and jerk off. 8gb minimum for modern games, can get more later if you need it which is unlikely. 600w is good for one card. I buy shit on craigslist now because its the same shit. Use pirate bay and kmspico to activate windows because Microsoft doesn't even give a shit.

How big is your powersupply?
I've used the 7700ks before and they are a nice chip. Fx4300s seem to cope with most things so no reason why a 7700k wouldn't

and a GTX 1070 will last you a long time. I stopped buying AMD because of random shit that goes wrong.

otherwise if you need a windows 7 key i can provide.

You gotta think how many people see all of the guys they look up to playing on IBP rigs and then go and grab one thinking it'll make them better. advertising on the actual computers is such a huge thing.

Nvidia's 70 series can usually run max settings at it's launch standard resolution for 2 generations. I usually sell my card each generation and upgrade. Processors generally last 5-7 gpu generations.

You've got your meme backwards friendo. Nvidia drivers are the ones that break and get worse. Getting a 1070 is fine until the next line comes out and they gimp exisitng cards

For that budget get an i7, gtx 1080, SSD.

I ran sli 780ti's until about a month ago and i never had an issue with drivers. AMD was better until they updated catalyst.

Righto. Thanks.

Admittedly I stopped recommending AMD card when they were ATI cards in the 5000 series. Only used nvidia since then and haven't had a single problem in 40 or so cards. AMD/ATI can suck a dick, trying to crossfire two 5770s then two 6950s was a disaster and I haven't looked back.

>1080
>i7
>Budget
You don't know what you're talking about, stop acting like you do.

Its the support of the community that I respect. I definitely dont think it will make anyone a better player.

We only stock the AMD 300 series. cards however for any decent build i always recommend the 1000 series.

Only thing catalyst made worse was the control centre UI. Other than that it made pretty much everything better.

At that time I would agree with you. More recently though I'd never recommend Nvidia over AMD for a typical gamer.

depends on what he already has. Through neweg with around 1k you can get a 1080 and a motherboard, I7, and ram. That is basically a fucking computer. Add 70 bucks for a small ssd.

yeah great idea
he can use the left over 200 to get a case, mobo, memory, drives, and power supply
if only all of us could be this smart

It made obtaining drivers on older machines harder. Not sure if the database of actual drivers changed but i find if i load the older catalyst on it'll pull the driver where as the new version won't.

Since desktop sales are dropping with the coming of notebooks and tablets, advertising for computers in gaming industry is huge.

Ibuypower is pretty gooood. I had one. Solid 7.5/10.

I suppose its sort of the same thing as people watching sport and seeing players use a certain brand of bat, helmet ect

This is also assuming he has a monitor, keyboard, mouse and headset already.

You might be fine with an AMD card, you may not be too though. I feel that nVidia spends much more time making sure everything works in their shit. Game developers are going to make sure everything works flawlessly with nVidia cards before they try to deal with AMD.

Yeah because let's be honest any of the guys who actually do this stuff for a living/take it seriously will always play on a PC

Or you know you could do a little bit of research and not be a complete faggot retard.

newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2851684

newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126106R

Yeah defiantly. I wouldn't recommend an AMD card at the moment for a gaming machine.

I got 390 Radeon 8gb. Dont need xfire with a card dat juicy

> $1200 budget
> has the rest of the PC to purchase

this op buypc.club

Nobody going to suggest waiting for Ryzen and Vega?

Best buy has a deal for a cyber power with a gtx 1060 16g ram and an i7 that comes with an oculus rift for about 1200. If you're looking for the best money spent that's probably it

it helps that the guy running the marketing there is enoryt an ex-pro TF2 player

Get the Ibuypower Revolt2
ibuypower.com/Store/Revolt-2-Z270-Exclusive

Pro TF2 player, now that's a job I'm interested in

After adding everything minus the case it came out to 1173$

Accounting for taxes and a case if he does not have one it will go over OP's amount. My bad there.

That was my bad, anyways he could get a 1070 or even a 1060 if he really wants to put more into everything else like new monitor + keyboard and mouse.

Hey community is small but the drama is crazy in there. Its fun to follow.

Yeah makes it a lot easier when you actually know what the scene is like, and what they want. Met a couple of the guys from IBP when i was over in Oakland for a month

Any wannabe IT fags in here, pro tip don't quit school just because you don't need it, at least get a business degree. I used to love building computers and explaining how they work and shit. Now I just want out. Doing it for businesses instead of people helps but dealing with disgusting computers and having the same old lady call you up every week for her printer gets old reeeeal quick. Having to tell a business every file on their share is not encrypted because one of their computers was running XP is something I hope to never do again. Just saying have a way out, love you fags.

hahahahah fuck man this is legit my life. That is so fucking accurate, I've been doing it for just over 2 years full time. I love it however the same old cunts with the same problems is really annoying. Get to do a lot of corporate work is really enjoyable though.

After getting into building and managing computers I could not imagine doing it for a living without it killing my own love for it.

I actually almost chose to be a certified computer specialist or something (can't remember since I didn't pick it). Decided to do welding instead.

I can imagine helping people with the most mundane shit would get old quick.

now encrypted* Also seriously get these people off of XP. I had a guy that kept his point of sale system off the internet for security. Turned on internet for literally 2 minutes in front of me to download a new program, didn't even open explorer yet and its cryptolocking itself. Behind a year old Sonicwall. Fuck it I'm out.

Man how bad was crypto the past year. Did you have people from business's ringing up because the same employee opened an email and the virus hopped across to the server. Had that more times then i can remember last year

thats pretty awesome. I just happen to follow them on social media, but they seem like cool people.

The place I was working at does it on a service contract, called Managed Network Services where they get a certain amount of hours included every month and they get paid a certain amount every month. Each hour past that is just money in the bank for them but the people calling are often times not the ones paying so they don't give a shit and will keep calling about whatever random thing I don't want to deal with. Saw how much money I was making them and started my own company doing the same thing. The problem with that was that I was just a salesman all day and I hate thinking about money like that. Took a job at local university where I can just chill all day for $19.70 an hour and they are paying for my degree. Construction management here I come, IT can die in a hole for all I care. Still play games sometimes though.

theres like a $4 price difference between the 6700 and 7700

Yeah was a really cool experience. Flew over from Australia and got to watch league and cs finals live.

Yeah we have recently been signing up clients to service agreements. 4 hours a month per client. Pretty much means you lose money for the first couple of weeks getting it all sorted out but after that it's free money. I guess i am fortunate because i get to do bench work and on sites most of the day however i'm still able to sell walk in customers gear.

Yeah service contracts are the shit. When you do a good job in IT, they don't call you back which is kinda a problem. Some places had a couple people, some 30-40. When I realized I was the only contact for 4 places that were paying around $5k a month including a small god damn school district I was outski. Still not as bad as dealing with random people off the street, god speed to the techs that are able to handle that for a long time. It's like being a mechanic, yes I love cars, no I don't want to replace the transmission in your mini van.

i have this, it's a budget pc. powerfull enough to play every game there is.

So OP you don't need to spend a lot of money to get a decent pc

ahah yeah i do a fair bit of that. About half of what we do is walk in repairs/new machines. Boss manages 4 schools down on the coast about 7 hours from the shop. Drives down there for a week fixes their shit and gets paid 30k. Not bad but it is a hard job after the drive.

Get an i3 and a GTX 1050 ti, spend the rest on whatever the fuck else

Damn 7 hours is crazy, furthest MNS client I had was 2.5 hours. I honestly didn't mind the hour and 2 hour drives because they couldn't make me do shit else while I was driving. Don't be enticed by the free iphone, brand new car, and laptop. That shit is just a small monthly payment for them. I feel bad for the really cool dudes that are still there and can't get out because they have kids and shit. Oh well, there are definitely worse things to be doing, I'm just too damn young to be hating my daily life lol. Just wish I wouldn't have dropped out of school, would have kept me from having to work full time while going back to school. Yes in IT experience and what you can do are more important than a degree, no do not just drop out lol.

Anyway I just come here for the shitposts and sometimes decent porn. God speed amigo

This shit happened at our business. Lost half of the data off of our servers because of one fucking idiot.

at least an i5

but new i3 K processors!

Just started my build and this is pretty much everythig I ordered I'll post thread when it's done because it should be pretty. Anyways you are a smart user.

The worst encounter I had with it was at a United Way location. They had one god damned XP machine and was this poor old lady at the front desk that answers the phones. We took them on a few months prior and never really looked over their shit. They had one main share that had everything in it, 600gb of years of stuff. The server was raid 1 and had a usb backup so didn't think about it. Get back from the weekend I get a call that nothing is opening on the server. See the .crypz extension. View the network usage and its the one computer that hardly gets used, remotely shut it down. Already took out everything important and the backup was of the new encrypted files. Fuck IT dude. One more pro tip if you try to do clients on your own though, non profits like United Ways, churches, and places like electric co-ops pay good money for service and the people in charge don't care about the cost because its not a company.

Dumbass

>dual core in 2017

>DDR3 @ 666MHz

Troll harder.

yeah i need to get those checked out. what's a good setting?

Crank it up to 4000mhz @ 3 volts. Will do wonders for you computer.

Its DDR, double data rate. It is running at 1333mhz, know what your doing before being an ass.

I remember my first time opening CPU-Z

how do you do that??

so they are good ?

Yes its fine and he is trolling with the second comment.

just remember you only need your FPS to match monitor refresh rate so if you monitor is nothing special and is 60Hz regardless of your FPS (even if its 150) you will only see 60fps regardless so don't be the faggot who buys core i7's and two GTX 1080's just go with an AMD FX 8350, corsair H60 WC, R9 4-8Gb GPU and a 650W PSU should be sufficient and cost around $400 to $450 depending on the GPU and mobo)

>inb4 AMD is shit and overheats

>get the H60 WC it keeps my 9370 (220W furnace) under 50C on a heavy load
>AMD isn't as good as intel but it's cheaper and gets the job done
>plus AMD has good overclocking capabilities go here to find one (tomshardware.com/faq/id-2176449/list-motherboards-overclocking-am3-cpus.html)

ibiypower is fucking trash have you ever seen what the insides of them look like? build your own for cheaper
