Same fucking thread as last night

9
/thread

Use context for the formula

1.

/thread retread

Don't /thread yourself newfag.

According to python interpreter 9.0

If you need a calculator to verify that you are proving OPs point

1 + 2 = 3
6 / 2 = 3
3 * 3 = 9

PEMDAS.

1.

Hasn't changed.

Troll.

sqrt63

Same as it was before.
It's still fucking 9.

6 / 2(1+2)
6 / 2(3)
6 / 6
1.

PEMDAS.

Learn it, live it.

Well he is still wrong.
I am natrually bad with numbers. My strength is logic and passion for programming. Final year for a software engineering degree.

It's also EPDMSA.
We read left to right in the 'Western' world.
You're wrong.

So you can remember PEMDAS but you forgot that multiplication and division have the same priority as each other requiring you to go left to right. You did mulitplication before division and got the wrong answer.

It's mathematics, not language. Mixing up the order only makes the math wrong, it doesn't make you edgy and cool.

MD and AS are simultaneous, not E and P.

Yes, you are.
Multiplication and division have the same priority with preference given to the left side of the equation as we read left to right, here.

9 isn't wrong. It's correct

Why did you multiply 2x3 before the division? Division and multiplication carry equal weight and are completed left to right.

Wrong. 6/2(3) still results in the 2(3) being done first, because parentheses still take priority.

Maths Teacher here, you're all idiots.

Clearly you haven't learnt it, fuckwit. Inside parentheses is first, outside is just multiplication. Which goes left to right with division.

Well you are a bad math teacher. It's the contents of the parenthesis that get calculated first. In the context of neigboring numbers it's literally the same as multiplication.

Clearly, arguing with one troll who thinks it's hysterical isn't going to go anywhere.

I can't help you, kid. I've built furniture, radios, and more with my math skills, and you're whacking off arguing order of operations.

See ya.

slate.com/articles/health_and_science/science/2013/03/facebook_math_problem_why_pemdas_doesn_t_always_give_a_clear_answer.html

Well, the E and the P may or may not be interchangeable depending on the problem. Regardless:
Left to right, retard.

My students regularly ace all tests, mine, state, and standardized for college.

You got taught wrong, you don't understand your work, and you're doing it wrong.

Try seeing it as

6
------
2(1+2)

resolve the denominator, resolve the numerator, solve.

1.

6/2*3 is exactly the same equation as 6/2(3)

You are either the worst math teacher I've ever encountered or a troll.

cymath.com/answer.php?q=6#2(1+2)

dumb troll is dumb

You are literally arguing with calculators.

Still wrong, faggot

Anyone who said anything but 1 is full retard

The .dividing operator here assumes division by 2.
You don't need to get left to right, as if you use the correct numbers it doesn't matter

It's the same as
6*0.5*3
If you calculate if from left to right or right to left you still get 9

What you wrote there is a completely different equation. That would be described as
6/(2(1+2))

This is not the same as the original equation.

Your way of conceptualizing it is fallacious.

kid, you're just plain wrong.

Good luck not blowing your fingers off in chem class, and always ask if they want fries with their order.

For what you say to be true, the original equation must look like this:
6/(2(1+2))
It does not. Your 'students' are doomed.

6/2 = 3
3 *(1+2) = 3
ergo 3*3 = 9

I'm a computer programmer and probably make significantly more than you, but thanks for your concern.

Also this

You rewrote the equation incorrectly.

divided by has presedence over the multiplication in this case.....

If you think that division operations aren't conceptually fraction operations... again, you're the window licker.

The question is written in a way where you can't see it as a straight up fraction. Unless it is written as a fraction, you can't interpret it that way.
/2 is the same as *0.5

You're autistic, congradulations

oh my god stop
(the answer is 9)

Wrong

They are only if you wrap each the numerator and the denominator in parenthesis.

(6/2)(2+3)

Paying for every other country's military

No stfu retards

LOL....
Thank god I was born and brought up in europe ^^

...

Your link produced the answer 9 which is what I've been saying the whole time.

Parentheses autist

Correct. Although I fear that you're dividing six by the entire equation when that is not the task proposed. You need only divide by two, as there are no parentheses around the entire 'denominator' that you're dividing six by to reach a result of one.

Ok... Show off your skills and give the answer in the post and pre fix notation format like a computer would calculate it

6/2(1+2)
= 6/2+4
= 3+4
= 7

/thread

>understanding mathematical notation better than others makes me autistic
>paying attention to detail makes me autistic
Congratulations has no d.
>inb4 this is reinforcement of your retardation

>computer programmer

curry muncher detected

>= 6/2+4
This sir is bait

In computer programming you would calculate that like this

result = 6/2(1+2)

It's not exactly rocket science. It's a gradeschool level calculation that I can perform in my head in less than a second.

>curry muncher detected
I do like curry, but I'm very white.

Ignorant retard

Seriously can't believe some people argue against this

>prefix computer sience year 2
/ 2 6*+ 2 1
/ 2 6 = 3
+2 1 = 3
* 3 3 = 9

>post fix
2 6/2 1+*

/ fucking thread

Don't want to hear from trolls claiming they're math teachers.

I love reading and smashing their heads in though. The true trolls get it wrong :P

That has nothing to do with being a computer programmer which is what I told you my expertise is. In the world of computer programming prefix and postfix are used a little differently.
int a = 0;
int b = a++;

In this case a is equal to 1 and b is equal to 0.

int a = 0;
int b = ++a;

In this case a is equal to 1 and b is equal to 1.

In some higher level programming languages, these operations have been removed entirely.

Same thread as last night, same answer given. Its 1.

thread is kill

I forgot to specify in the first example is the postfix operation and the second example is the prefix operation.

Except, it's not 1

I'm pretty sure the American schooling system is failing. There's even a fucking math teacher in this thread that has enough chromosomes to create a friend.

I'll nibble on your shitty bait, retard.

2(1+2) = 6. leading to 6/6=1.

>implying people on /b are being truthful

>doesn't know pemdas
>doesn't know multiplication and division performed left to right
>calls me a retard
