Dear Europeans

I heard that all europeans can speak 2 languages at least.
Is this true?

nein

Only those from shit countries

>terveisin, monolingual idiot

Some

nej, ich can peux snakke solo lingua

>ireland
>1

>median
>some people speak less than one language in red countries

>Ireland

>Holland
>3 languages
Very smart. What reason makes them studying foreign language?

>tfw I can speak three languages
>none of them are Irish

In France pupils have to learn two foreign languages, one of which has to be English.
Most people are shit at it though, and they usually don't really know the 2nd language once they leave school.

good goy

yes

Their language is like in the middlepoint between english and german, making it trivial to learn both.

Swedish and English, then most people learn French or Spanish in junior high/high school too. Complete failures in life take German classes instead, or skip tertiary language education altogether. Sometimes people change language between junior high and high school (nybörjarspråk) meaning they speak 4 languages.

What do you mean? Isn't it usually the people who pick Spanish who are the lazy ones who doesn't want to study?

The motivated people who actually want to learn something picks French.

Native and English

>median

>french
spoiled tryhard upper class kids
>spanish
straight c's in everything
>german
complete fucking failures in life whose parents forced them to take it
>extra swedish/english
probably won't finish high school

>england
>1

Yes, I speak Norwegian, English, French, German and Russian

i speak 3 languages
german
english
french

I speak English and Norwegian.

Want to learn Chinese, Russian and Spanish desu.

Yes, I speak italian and dialetto romagnolo

Spanish and a french dialect called English

Isn't Finland supposed to have a good school system? Do you seriously not know how to get a median?

Does Italy have "regional languages" like Spain does?

>muh cataln
>muh basque
>muh galician

>tfw only speak English und Deutsche
feelsbadman.jpg

Is English even taught in Germany?

Everything on the TV and cinema is dubbed. How do you even live with that?

>Ireland
depressing

>Those spanish stats
>It's probably taking into attack Galician/Basque/Catalan
I live in a country of utter retards

>Attack
Account*
Looks like I belong here :^)

Yes

Most can't even speak Castellaño

Is it true that Franco suppressed learning English during his rule and this is why an entire generation of Spaniards don't know English?

I dunno
Most teens don't speak it either
I remember having to explain the difference between he and him to a 16yo classmate of mine a few years ago

>monolingualtugal

well i speak provençal, french and english, that's about it

Yes since year 1.

During franco´s rule It was learnt french in the school instead of learning English. However, There were Schools and """schools""". The lower-class went to Schools called "Escuela de pobres" (School of the poor people). In that school they only taught you to divide, plus and read and write. The upper-class have a much better education and learnt frenchie in the school.

I find it a bit odd, desu.

Most people from the 50's on speak French, and people from the 80's on speak English.

We do have a fuckton of old people, and like 20% emigrants who wouldn't count for the statistics but know a second language by default.

I dunno.

That's what happen with excess dubbing and translations.

Four languages here. Finnish and three Germanics.

Ysiysi puhuu yhtä ja yks kahta niin mediaani on sillon yks.

3 languages here
English, Russian, Arabian
and German of course

I haven't watched a movie in Spanish in a very long time
But you're right, we should stop dubbing and start subbing

>tfw american
>tfw above the median in every country but luxembourg

>latvia, estonia, lithuania and finland
>2½
do they 'half' speak russian? how does this work?

no it's called swedish do you even know the history of the kalmar union jesus christ

but why is it HALF a language, friend

yes everysingle one of Portuguese can speak Portuguese/spanish at least

I speak english, spanish and one regional meme language (we have many).

But most of the population in this country is ignorant and idiotic as fuck. Most don't know english for shit.

It probably accounts for the population of werewolves and gipsies.

>what is average
if one guy speaks 2 languages and some other guy speaks 3
the average is 2.5
common sense mate

didn't really think about it that way, maybe im just retarded desu. thanks

>Irish

>Spanish
No, we just open the vowels and say arriba a couple times.

Both our English and French fluency is higher on average than our Spanish.

Here in Flanders, every person has to learn at least Dutch, French, German and English.

Latin and greek are optional in highschool.

Same here.

Except if you're dumb.

Why is Luxembourg such a wonder of a country?

>Why is ex-yu always blanked in these surveys? How are we not europe?

btw I speak serbian italian and english fluently

It's only EU countries.

>ireland is so cucked by brits they dont even speak their own language

>luxembourg

>1
RRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
THAT IS FUCKING LIES
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

3 languages in my case (spanish, catalan, english), and I also understand portuguese and occitan (which is basically the same as old catalan) and can read most of french and italian texts. Catalan helps a lot as it is close to italian and french in many ways.

depends

I speak French and English, and i can read Latin

Money

>ireland

You guys were talking about three languages, historically.
Your old man surely will be able to speak Japanese.
