Fuck the loudness war conversation, I want quiet music. What happened to quiet music? Loud mixing certainly didn't make things better but it doesn't change the fact that a lot of music is still just naturally loud.
You lose a great deal of ambiance coming from the instruments when the mix is layered with track upon track upon track. What is some music that knows when to hold back, doesn't have to be minimalist or whisper quiet, just something that respects instrumental ambiance.
