first for slowdive's new song is shit

...

yeah it kinda sucks

It's not even that good

At least its better than Ride's new material.

>Tangible Rays - Seance
I'm giving this shit a try and it sounds so weak, not even worth shilling

What does /shugazi/ make of this?

It's probably better than slowdive's new tracks but not very memorable.

...

Shoegaze hasn't been relevant since the '90s. Why are people so dead set on copying MBV and the Jesus and Mary Chain in the 2010s?

Shoegaze is always relevant if it's good

astrangelyisolatedplace.bandcamp.com/album/a-state-of-becoming

someone rec me some good blackgaze

slowdive side project monster movie released an album look it up on bandcamp and listen its pretty shoegaze-y

Lantlos - .neon
Alcest - Souvenirs d'un autre monde
Woods of Desolation - As the Stars
An Autumn for Crippled Children - Lost
Deafheaven - Sunbather
any other albums by these artists
any Neige-core (there's a chart out there but I don't have it)

Pretty basic/entry level recs but it's a small genre so finding deeper cuts isn't hard

fuck off, it's great

Saw Slowdive perform the other week.
The crowd was full of weirdos who kept trying to hit on rachel, fucking hilarious.

I really like it, it's fun

sounds cringey. how was the actual performance? I'm seeing them in May

Pretty good. Their new songs sounded a little better live. They played all the songs you would want them to, the big tracks off souvlaki, etc.

...

Yeah it fucking sucks

someone recommend some stuff that's noisy as fuck but still peaceful, a lot of the noisier stuff I hear tends to be more aggressive (which I like but I'm not looking for that right now)

...

This is more or less the essentials of the genre (outside of An Autumn For Crippled Children)
I would include Alrakis - Alpha Eri, though.
Everything else can be seen as superfluous

other okay Blackgaze:
Sleep White Winter - Dreamscapes
Heretoir - s/t
Violet Cold - Magic Night (Anomie & Desperate Dreams are okay too)
Trna - Lose Yourself to Find Peace (GOAT instrumental Blackgaze; first release is good too)
Cerna - Restoring Life
Deadwood - Picturing a Sense of Loss
Numenorean - Home
Triste L'Hiver - Nouveau decret (side note: the song We Can Breathe Light from another album is fucking amazing)
So Hideous - Laurestine
Cold Body Radiation - The Great White Emptiness

Why aren't other forms of extreme metal commonly fused with shoegaze ?

Because metal sucks

Because shoegaze sucks

Because music sucks

because no other metal genre would fit with the shoegaze sound at all besides drone metal which is frequently fused with it

I never thought i'd enjoy music form my country this much.
What's /shugazi/'s opinion on pic related?

I want to get into shoegaze. what are the essential albums?

The big 3 are:
>My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
>Slowdive - Souvlaki
>Ride - Nowhere

After that, just explore I guess. There's lots of Shoegaze albums Sup Forums has a hard on for, like V:D:C and Ceres and Calypso.

Here is the chart.

Also check out this.

What's this?

uhh
All Natural Lemon and Lime Flavors' Turning Into Small?

its like LSD and the Search for God, but shit

Eye Candy - Cerebrotonia

>May
wew, Santiago?

Seance is a pretty meh album, the debut's much better, so don't shill

better than Star Roving, not great though
the third song they played live is the best so far, not keen on the vocals but the chorus has got the old kind of sweeping wall of sound going on
youtube.com/watch?v=kmGeG3AKEEw

thoughts on Warpaint?
Saw them live and they were great.
youtube.com/watch?v=OnuFYYJHaY0

...

Don't know why I haven't listened to more of them, I love Undertow and Love is to Die.

I fucking hate them.

>new slowdive
>new ride
>new jamc
what fucking year is it

mediocuh

meh

AOTYSF

lel

love it, one of my favorite dream pop records

I loved it compared to the first single they dropped.

I love this one. Need more recs like the guy said.

why anons?
they were better live than on record, honestly

why do bands make this 'suburban homes' album art so often

thats where they live

thats pretty hard

They seem to be better live than in the studio. The Fool is a great album though and Stella Mozgawa is a hell of a drummer.

...

...

...

not that user but,
loving this album, good rec

Put out a shoegaze/drone/noise Xiu Xiu cover split EP with friends of mine, if you guys are interested btw.

debutantemusic.bandcamp.com/album/birthmarks

I like Archie's Fades.
>no don diasco cover
damn

autism

How??

Any dream pop act similar to the Fishmans?

First day on Sup Forums?

This is beautiful, user

Polaris, bassist from fishmans

m.youtube.com/watch?v=pNNY8K1IMjA

anyone check out the bardo pond release this year?

bit old and some of it is out there.. but a good start

because its the embodiment of dullness and staleness. sets a great mood for melancholy

Jen Goma from Sunny Day in Glasgow has a new solo project. Thoughts?

youtube.com/watch?v=t-WZsWhHYSU

I'm excited for the ML/ML release

Fuck you guys, I still like Seance.

New Astrobrite fucking when?

Grow House was more exciting. Seance is just a pop record with shoegaze elements.

Anything else like Kinoko Teikoku?
Not their new shit, I couldn't stand Neko and Allergy, and their newest was pretty meh. I'm thinking more Uzu ni Naru and Eureka/Fake Wonderland than Long Goodbye. So, less dark, but still shoegaze-ish

It still hasn't clicked for me.

Your point is?

The new Heretoir is very good, not very gazey but I know a lot of blackgaze fans enjoyed their first one (I didn't). Possible MAOTY. New Planning For Burial is solid as well, does what it needs to even if there's nothing super exciting or groundbreaking on it.

>The Mantle
>Gaze

Try 0号室の旅人 or 4 by the band 101A, they are more dark and post-rock-ish.
Or いくつもの絵 by イツエ (Itsue) for a brighter sound with vocals more similat to Kinoko Teikoku

...

jus sayin

I liked their last album, I don't think it deserves the hate.

how do you pronounce "white bar"

Slowdive "Star Roving"
youtube.com/watch?v=ogCih4OavoY

Slowdive "Sugar for the Pill"
youtube.com/watch?v=BxwAPBxc0lU

Do you like it, user?

Nic
I think their BC is wedonthaveaname

Star Roving is good. Sugar for the Pill is meh at best.

seeing them in may, can't wait

I actually liked Sugar a lot more than Star Roving, the latter felt like it was trying too hard to sound like 2010s gaze (Whirr, Airs, etc).
I'm super excited to see them live, I watched their streamed performance and they sounded amazing. What a setlist too, their entire career is covered.

Idk if this is the right thread but does anyone know similar albums to the goslings? this album is dope.

technically not shoegaze (it's more like really noisy doom metal) but it gets posted here often enough
try this: youtube.com/watch?v=UHnXRtIYpkE

Goslings man thinks it's metal, but I don't really think it is.

Good rec, Polaris is great

NEW MELODY'S ECHO CHAMBER

youtube.com/watch?v=bBMOHtCtq3k

Fucking finally.

less psychedelic than the last one which is kinda disappointing
love the art though

Very chamber pop/ Margo Guryan sounding. I fucks wit it.

>download pic related
>think its going to be japanese shoegaze with qt female vocals
>its mostly noise

Going to see Slowdive live in May
How are they live?
