They are called "Eixos". You don't know how they facilitate the transportation here. Straight large streets that reach almost all areas in the central region.

You say about the "satellite cities"? It's because the central region of BrasÃlia (Plano Piloto) was truly planned from the start, most of these things were already built in 1960, while the satellite cities are results of the massive disordered migration to the capital and the local government couldn't manage it. Good thing that there are some satellite cities that are managing to do fine in the last years.
