Yes, mostly no, no.

The Residents- Not Available

Ok here's the new chart. Does anyone disagree with any of them? There's already been objections to The White Albums and TLOP.

Pescado Rabioso - Artaud
Cabaret Voltaire (everything)
Throbbing Gistle (everything)
Sleepytime gotilla museum
the Mars Volta (everything)

also a lot of new wave like Bauhaus, Oingo Boingo, M , Laurie Anderson, XTC, Japan, eyeless in Gaza, etc.

Is it still dada if it adheres to the rules of music?

this guy is correct

seeing as how "meme culture" is basically a revision of dadaism in the information age

Add M.I.A.'s Arular

...

I don't mean this as an insult but is this stuff not teached in most high schools?

replace Not Available with Meet The Residents

Remove Kanye add Pop Tartari by Boredoms and Tokyo Anal Dynamite. Maybe While you were out by Kazumoto Endo

Can't forget PW

a popular autist art movement. 'spergs on a canvas if u will.

Also Philsophy of The World by The Shaggs
And any Deerhoof album

Guy who originally suggested Not Available, Meet the Residents is probably a better choice. (The first actually has the a point, so would fit under dada-less.)

were you home schooled?

no, but I'm not american

This

neither am I, only heard about Dada when studying History of Art at uni

dadaism is masturbatory.

Based on artwork alone, Green Day's Dookie
music is barely Dada at all though

...

that's kind of the point

Satie has to appear on a Dada chart

cdn.pitchfork.com/albums/23433/7796e015.jpg

...

...

Already on the chart

...

...

this is surrealism though

STGSTV is far more dada

No, it might be more experimental but not in a very "Dada" way, it's more like surrealist, plus PW has FloriDada and sone out there sounds

...

how has this not been mentioned?

they are probably just americans

because it's not dada

its a meme you dip

...

youtube.com/watch?v=DQ1_ALxGbGk

Eraserhead OST

what is your definition? at least as it applies to music?

Any more? Any that don't belong?

You forgot this

Added for the next version.

...

Meredith Monk - Key

De-loused and the Eno album don't really fit

is this dada?

also

Stephen David Heitkotter - Black Orckid

explain why??

I really don't see how those are dadaistic

...

How?

from this website on dada theartstory.org/movement-dada.htm

>were intent on incorporating chance into the creation of works of art. This went against all norms of traditional art production whereby a work was meticulously planned and completed.

Eno used all sorts of random sounds in this album. Like many of the early synth players he had no musical training and was basically just playing random sounds.

the dadaist concept of the readymade is related to Eno's appropriation of pop cliches, which would see fruition in my life in the bush of ghosts where he justs samples stuff direcctly

it's also an absurd pastiche of different styles

...

Painting With doesn't belong at all, White Album isn't really Dada (all the songs have messages and reasons for being, even Revolution 9 is just an anti-war collage), I don't get why Aphex Twin is on here, Eno doesn't belong.

Also, Frank Zappa-Lumpy Gravy could probably replace Absolutely Free. It's the most Dada album of all time.

Add
R Kelly- Trapped in the Closet Chapters 1-12
Beck- Mellow Gold
Reiko Ike- Koukotsu no Sekai
Andre Popp- Delirium in Hi Fi
The Frogs- It’s Only Right and Natural
Wild Man Fischer- An Evening With Wild Man Fischer
DJ Screw- Bigtyme
Loli Ripe- Jody
Joe Meek- I See a New World
Barbetomagus- Barbed Wire Maggots
Jonwayne - Jonwayne Fucks Disney
Lil B- Gods Father
Royal Trux- Twin Infinitives

Switch out Here Come the Warm Jets with My Life in the Bush of Ghosts.

Better fit for dada

Not really. Has a pretty straightforward purpose.

>look up dada
>one of the first things i see is association with Yoko Ono's "music"

Dada is fucking lame

if you had to look up dada you're a newfag

How is Trapped in the Closet dada?

It's a single short theme repeated 12 times with nonsensical situations in each one.

...

O B S E S S E D

You guys know Duchamp worked on music right. Why are there so many albums with no ties whatsoever to dada on the chart but not actual dada.

classic dada

you fags realize theres more to dada than just being quirky and disjointed right?

wow thanks for this, sounds like zappa's synclavier stuff

Then what other real dada should be on here?

tempted to say a lil ugly mane project but not sure which one

would that one shitty vaporwve album by like, Internet Club with the speedracer cover be considered dada?

Vaporwave is entirely about aesthetic so it is kind of the exact opposite of dada.

The Marcel Duchamp pick is full of win.

Painting with is still not Dada, just quirky.

holy shit this chart is awful

mellow gold? painting with? since I left you? fucking really?

raul haussman
kurt shwitters
jaap blonk

literally all of those on your chart should be removed. none have anything to do with dada. if youre going to include not purely dadaist but dada inspired music at least have magma, ruins, or braaxtaal....

i feel like you havent even read a wikipedia articles worth of text about what dadaism was about and what defines it as a movement....

>Mellow Gold
youtube.com/watch?v=GdDBIFUfXJ0

>Since I Left You
Collages from all across the world of dance music, sound effects, and horse whinnies juxtaposed against each other is pretty dada to me.

u left out muh dennis duck :c

maybe some no wave, a zuehl pick maybe?
midori possibly, although I don't speak moon it is a very raw and disjointed act
feeling impossible nothing a little bit
something like dispepsi or another negativland record would fit more than SILY
something by Cage
of course obvious picks are things like early musique concrete and other abstract things like that noise composition I forgot the name of
maybe feeling a Swans record because Gira has stated he was inspired by actionism

>youtube.com/watch?v=GdDBIFUfXJ0

Yeah it's experimental, but there is still adherence to structure and conformity to be heard.

>Collages from all across the world of dance music, sound effects, and horse whinnies juxtaposed against each other is pretty dada to me.

But it's orchestrated in a way to make it sound like conventional music.

This is a sound collage project that sounds closer to dada, but you guys outright skipped him.

Please stop.

this

feeling foetus and one of the first 2 TVU albums, the la monte young influence via john cale is really present there (I know la monte young isn't dada but it is avant garde and irreverent of musical traditions)

>flori-dada
you cheeky cunt

> there is still adherence to structure and conformity to be heard

On the album you can hear a mix of Indian Raga, hip hop beats, laid back Beefheart poetry, backwoods folk, all clashing together with little rhyme or reason. Some of the time it sounds like radio friendly alt rock, but most of the time it doesn't.

>But it's orchestrated in a way to make it sound like conventional music.

youtube.com/watch?v=bmfWqnjgb8s

The Velvets were much more in the realm of conveying solid emotions. White Light/ White Heat maybe, but the first probably not.

Probably no for foetus.

Is "Uncle Meat" a dada piece?
