I fucking hate it with a passion
33% of the team i work with are far too stupid to do the job but it's impossible to fire them due to various issues, manager is a thundercunt who thinks encouraging us to work harder means shouting at us and blaming us for all the problems which aren't our fault on a near daily basis, i'm an office worker yet i'm paid the same as the guy who drives the forklift in the warehouse, the company expects us to do 30% more work YEAR ON YEAR with no additional staff so, in order for us to hit our december target, we were working 60+ hour weeks when we're contracted for 35 and the thanks we got on the first day back in january you ask? We were told the company is going to continue to expect unrealistic targets and unrealistic working hours and if we don't like it to look for another job. Great way for a fortune 500 company to treat the staff that bust their balls reaching stupid targets.

it's legal if you discharge them as clients first. way easier

It's alright tbh, First few months were shit and I debated leaving.
But I stuck with it for the cash, albeit shit cash.

Finished school, got a place in university, wanted a part time job so I could get some money to blow without having to get another loan.
Took ages to get an interview from anywhere I applied to, this place gave me one, First interview and I got the job.
Couldn't be fucked job searching again, that's why I haven't left.

Yes, short workdays, good exercise, chill night time work. Only complaint is when weather is trash, when it hits -20F or during rain in summer.

I work about 2,5 hours a day, could switch to car district for 2 hours more on average but losing the physical part of the work doesnt sound very attractive.

Yes, I'm one of the R&D groups. I get to do something interesting every day and my performance is judged on how many unique and interesting things I can imagine so I'm literally paid to fuck around in my lab. Kind-of odd to be in an industry where (in industry) job options can fit on a single page though since there's not many large fabs.

Honestly, it probably is £5.55 then. I checked how much I was earning like last time I got paid, so I must've counted the hours wrong when I was working it out or some shit. Though, i'll keep an eye on it this month now that you've said that.

Pretty much left alone to listen to music and code all day.
Work from home more often than not.

I use a variety. I use HASS, Hurco and Mitsubishi Vertical CNC.

Hurco CNC lathe and an old Blanchard grinder.

I get as much overtime as I want witch is about $38 an hour on weekdays and $51 on Sundays. I usually fall just short of 100K a year. I really enjoy it to be honest but I won't work more than 60 hours a week no matter what. That is where I put my foot down.

Incredible job security and a fully funded ass kicking pension. I will retire in 8 years and get a raise for doing it.

For me, it wasn't. I built computers in high school and published web sites for my favorite video games. I got into video editing and eventually learned autocad when I went to college.

I struggled more with manual machining on the bridgeport and lathe. Once they set me up on CNC I destroyed it and quickly moved up to the top. I was machine shot supervisor on night shift for a while. I would train apprentices. Nights got shut down so I don't have the responsibility anymore but I kind of prefer it that way.

Are you for real? Dude I sympathize with your situation but I'm not going to give $2400 to a stranger on the internet I don't even know. How am I supposed to know if your story is even real? I feel for you and life isn't easy but I can't help you dude. Maybe if I knew you in real life or some shit but no i can't just do it like this Sorry.
