Time is illmatic, keep static like wool fabric
Timeless classic

This
My friend call this album's genre "deep nigger".
This along with tribe and wutang don't age
Baby's 1st hippity hops

STRAIGHT FROM THE FUCKING DUNGEONS OF RAP
(checked)
he's right.
WHERE FAKE NIGGAZ DONT MAKE IT BACK
NY state of mind > one love > memory lane > rest
yes, it's the best hip hop album ever made
if you start this album you will not be able to turn it off, guaranteed
NY State of Mind sounds mindblowing every single time you listen to it, it's kind of freakish how it seems to always sound 'new'
Its an objectively great album, but it definitely hasnt aged well. Everyone should respect it for what it is, but it is also 100% dated.
sick reference, bro.
no love for represent or halftime or the world is yours?
>but it definitely hasnt aged well
whats dated about it
the AZ verse on Life's A Bitch is one of the best rap features to date
Represent and half time sound dated desu. The world is yours is good tho
NYSOM = Represent > One Love > Life's A Bitch = The World Is Yours > Memory Lane > Halftime = One Time 4 Your Mind > It Ain't Hard To Tell > The Genesis
I don't know how to start this shit man
I was listening to it at noon today and I"m actually listening to "Nas is Like" as we speak
It holds up extremely well
This is literally if Joey Badass was good: the album
Like wine OP. This album is a masterpiece in its own right.
Memory Lane was the best track
I want more amazing oldie hip hop what are some
Pic related is an underground classic
Boot Camp Clik is mad underrated as far as 90's NY goes
Start with Smif-n-wessun - dah shinin
then heltah skeltah - nocturnal
black moon - enta da stage , is a classic as well
A few example tracks from the albums
Lol. Wutang doesn't age?
Has this aged well?
This blew it the fuck out, so not really
Probably the only perfect hip hop album, entirely because of the sum of its parts, the production, the lyricism, the subject matter, the hype, and the time period were all key in immortalizing this Illmatic. I dont listen to much hip hop anymore since my early 20s, but I'll still bang this album a few times a year, especially now.
Fun note: I know every single lyric by heart, and when I first got into production some 10 years ago Memory Lane was the first song I recreated. It was such a fulfilling experience.
Oddly enough Beat, Rhymes, and Life aged the best, but People's Instinctive Travels is the tru patrician album
>People's Instinctive Travels
My negro.
