is what's going on on that cover, what i think is happening?.. it looks like some chick getting eaten out?

it's the assasination of caesar, what are you on about

>he doesn't know who Gian Lorenzo Bernini
>he doesn't know about the Rape Of Proserpina
Why live?

This is the weirdest pop album since Silen Shout
>inb4muhgrimes

give me a sec i'll ms paint what i see

We know what you mean, it's just that it's wrong

They chose the best part of the sculpture.
That hand grabbing that T H I C C thigh.

if you think its some lady being taken to the underworld then yes.

damnn this is so fucking good

there's also that wolf
really makes you think..

Do you know where I can stream this, my man?

I don't even know how they manage to make weird normal music

That's Cancerberus, I think. Three-headed dog

Lad she's being taken to the underworld by Pluto.
That's Cerberus that guards the gates.

listening to it right now

No idea. I got it from someone who ripped it. Maybe ask this guy

Cerberus = Garm
really fires up your neurons..

Heard it two times now: it grows on me. The contrast between the slick instrumentation and the sinister a-ha-like vocals. Good coverartwork too.

when did this even get announced and why did no one cover it??

god damn it's hard being an ulver fan to keep up, didn't realise the album they put out last year had been out for like six months either

>finding a relation in mythologies
almost as easy as counting to 10

Same
I'm a huge lver fan and I had no idea this came out

All european mythologies have the same root anyway

>when did this even get announced and why did no one cover it??
jester-records.com/ulver/ulver.html
hte only valid source

The only bad thing about ulver is the vocalist. He sucks.

and yet they choose this exact sculpture and exclude the Cerberus from the cover

It was announced in the space of two sentences at the end of, like, four paragraphs sometime between the release of ATGCLVLSSCAP and when the Riverhead OST came out, and nothing else was said, until a week ago when they said "oh yeah and our album is p much done"

Why is the inclusion of Cerberus so important, though?

...

cerberus implies garm? is it a hint

i'm not even dissing ulver, i cant wait to hear this, just what i cant help seeing on the cover...

I'm only at the second track and oh boy is it good

youtube.com/watch?v=Wq0Kb4bFNzg

youtube.com/watch?v=IXQsDQ6PidY

anybody got any links for the full album?
Only found these 2 on youtube.

Yeah but maybe they had other things in mind when they designed the album cover than "lol let's make a reference to our name via reverse interpretatio graeca xd"

You actually went and did it. And it took you 17 minutes. And it looks like shit.

Wow this is one special day.

>other things in mind

like this?

slsk (inb4muuhtranscode)

or maybe not? they're not the types who do things unawarely

well... it really only took me about 5, i got distracted by a phone call, i wasnt about to put effort into it.

really reminds me of this album. Cover art and music

...

>Ulver

ITt.:nu-males

They didn't choose that sculpture and angle to make some bloke on a chinese rice farming forum go "hey they excluded a detail to make us think of their name, you know, in case they forget"

holy shit how old are you?

since we're going with album cover relation, this one wins

There's also this truth:

>still thinking Ulver makes metal

>Ulver fans

>hey they excluded a detail to make us think of their name
not their name, Garm's name, because Garm doesn't call himself 'Garm' since Blood Inside

quality post

Yeah, I kept saying their for some reason. Realised after posting.

it's clearly a hint at mr G, Rygg's alter ego
does this mean that mr G is back

He kinda never went away. It's not a "persona" really. Anyway, had I cropped this picture a bit more we wouldn't even be considering any of this. Just-- let's just Occam the whole shebang.

>papyrus

Definitely

good post

Give him a break, he had years to catch up to internet and digital culture in general

We're lucky Belus wasn't written using Comic Sans or Algerian

Did what?
you people just like it because ulver released it
nothing fucking special

i'll take a link pls

This is so bad, I can't even tell if it's ironic or not

>Enter the edgy Contrarian

>It's not a "persona" really.
yeah, he actually did vocals for this 2017 release as Garm, but still

He called himself fucking Trickster G Rex around Perdition City era, I don't think his pseudonyms are all that significant.

Great argument, you sure showed me

>papyrus
Can someone explain this meme to me plz?

Great album, one of the better modern prog records

It's a shitty font

I believe details matter

oh my fucking god that's gorgeous, what is this

How do you even make shit like this on stone by hand
Those guys were fucking nuts

>ulver post-bergtatt
lmao

I like Bon Ulver too

Stop. Take a day off and reconsider your life up to this point.

t. dumb blackie

new Nidingr?

You are wrong on so many levels. It's not that Ulver made synthpop, it's that it's a fucking great synthpop album.
Also I'm not one to pay attention to lyrics but this album has a pretty neat concept.

theyre last one was boring as fuck

Which one, the soundtrack, the hybrid live-studio album, their collab with Sunn O))), the one they did with the Tromso Chamber Orchestra or Wars Of The Roses?

wtf I love black metal now

memes aside, it's a great album. Ulver had been kinda meh over the past few years and this is a welcome change of quality and focus. I kinda wish there had been no real releases between Shados Of The Sun and this, because it makes a rather coherent sort of trilogy with it and Blood Inside. They kinda lost it for a sec- went astray and had to find their way back through trial and error. Who knows what's gonna happen next. You know, in general, but yeah...

The future scares me more and more.

What... what.

Ulver was one of the only bands/artists to completely shift musical genres while still being good

>completely shift musical genres while still being good
Twice, some would argue thrice
