Does it really have to be recs from 2017? :/
Just post whatever.
Reminder that this general will die unless you post shoegaze.
Is there anything comparable to this?
!!!
Opener literally blows my mind
I never noticed, but the cat is sitting behind two RATs
That's the point.
Does dude have the shoegaze AOTYSF chart still?
some krautrock
also fsa's other stuff, some stuff on pic related is super good
We need a better archive base, recc me things to upload and share
What's the fascination with a dead genre?
it sounds good
Anyone got some electronic haze? (I know Bowery, Spc Eco, Soundpool)
I'm currently trying to write some songs that combine shoegaze with Gas-like ambient techno, I'll post it here if I can ever get it sounding alright
Check out Ulrich Schnauss. Heavily shoegaze/dream pop influenced down tempo.
I like how it sounds
Well I'll post it again to bump the thread.
The Duke Spirit

I really dig this ethereal dream pop. Vocals are maybe too prominent for 'gaze I guess. Thoughts?
Why is this album having a sudden resurgence?
I mean, I love this record, but it used to be rare to see it, now I'm starting to see it even outside /shugazi/
This album is pretty good
And my fave from last year. Wye Oak has very quietly crept into my top listened to bands. Folky shoegaze with hints of classic rock.
Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack are great musicians.
>SPC ECO
Love this album.
youtu.be
>Warning: extreme /shugazi/ waifu factor
I have to bump /shugazi/ today? I guess it was my turn.
Why did I sleep on this so long? It's amazing
That album surprised the shit out of me too when I first listened to it.

shilling my favorite Verve song that should've been included on the EP
What is this? Image search gave me nothing.
Good taste my dude, that's my 3rd favorite shoegaze album of all time.
I think I listened to it too many times because now it's decent but not outstanding
Below the House and Cerebrotonia are probably my favs from this year. Tangible Rays was a 6/10 at best.

good shit
When I was first being introduced to the whole Japanese shoegaze thing on Sup Forums, that was the first one I was recommended I think. Always seemed like the most essential album out of that scene to me, at least on here.
So is there an actual Japgaze "scene" or does there just so happen to be a decent handful of bands making shoegaze?
Like how popular actually is the genre over there?
I can't imagine it being very popular but I don't see why there wouldn't be some kind of small scene. Bands just associate with similar bands I guess.
Top 5 shoegaze songs, limit to one for each artist?
>in your room - airiel
>celia's dream - slowdive
>crasher - astrobrite
>pancake - swirlies
>sugar - my bloody valentine
Never would have taken him for a Catherine Wheel fan.
I kinda want to make a japgaze mega. Would anyone appreciate that or would it be useless?
>My Bloody Valentine- Only Tomorrow
>Ride- Cool Your Boots
>LSD and the Search for God- I Don't Care
>Flying Saucer Attack- My Dreaming Hill
>The Depreciation Guild- White Moth
Hard to pick a top 5 but these are all up there for me.
I'd use it.
cool beans.
artists I can think of to include right now would be:
Luminous Orange
Mass of the Fermenting Dregs
Tokyo Shoegazer
宇宙ネコ子 (not sure about them as they aren't all that shoegaze-y)
My Dead Girlfriend
goji-sanpun
Mikgazer
Kinoko Teikoku
Clams
Coalter of the Deepers
any others?
Maybe Asobi Seksu - Citrus, but they're technically based from New York and they only have the one good album.
AR Kane - Haunting
MBV - To Here Knows When
Sway - Fall
Ride - Leave Them All Behind
Lift to Experience - Just As Was Told
this is hard because a lot of my favorite shugazi songs are either dream pop or noise pop but not really shoegaze
Oeil
Burrrn
Pasteboard
Pastel Blue
This actually sounds like an album entirely made of unfinished songs. Like the artist recorded pop songs then removed everything but the musical accessories added for mood.
I'm curious if anyone is still in the old shugazi discord. The one that was made about a year ago and is basically dead now.
More like pic related?
Fluorescence and Hush are both just as good as Citrus.
alright. I've included everything I have downloaded from these () artists plus some albums by these () dudes.
anything else?
It's not strictly Japanase, but Half Dreaming: Asian Shoegaze Compilation has some choice cuts from Japanese bands that are tough to find otherwise.
Yellow Loveless?
Japanese shoegaze is really awesome, but this band is special to me
bunch of japanese bands did covers for all of loveless.
youtube.com

it's pretty good. but not necessarily all shoegaze.
Agreed. I especially like Fluoresence.
My dead girlfriend/shojoskip - Sweet Days and Her Last Kiss
>when you decide to link some choice tracks but forget to include the link to the whole album.
youtube.com
I know Yellow Loveless, was just suggesting it be included in the mega user is making.
k lads, anything else?
>posting your own album as AOTY
>not even shoegaze
?
how do i get a shoegaze gf guys
easily
alright boys here you go
Compilation of Japanese shoegaze albums by various artists:
mega.nz
make sure to share it whenever possible, it gives me warm fuzzies when I see my links posted
Thanks, user.
Good shit user, thanks.
You are the fucking man my man.
>Bright
Not OP, but this is dream pop my dude, just abstract dream pop.
Plus he's right about the Tangible Rays user spamming his 6/10 just ok album
...
bumop
Seance is better, my dude.
I must have missed that getting set up. I'd like to join and possibly help get it active again if it's kind of dead.
Thanks user.
Luminous Orange is such an amazing shoegaze. Each album has a unique sound and none of them are MBV ripoffs. Hands down favorite shoegaze band.
youtube.com
>kind of dead
There are a few problems with starting a new discord:
1) It's going to stop the creation of generals here on Sup Forums
2) Activity slows pretty quickly, especially after a couple of months. Even more so since there isn't much about shoegaze to talk about.
I suppose the group could be more of a social tool, just to interact with others and lightly talk about shoegaze.
peep this, family.
...
No, the shugazi one
Oh. Sorry
Great band from Sweden. And maybe with the best band name ever.

I got it
anything on here you want to replace?
Thank you, user
discord.gg
Here's the link anyways if you (or anyone else) is interested. I think a new one should be made anyways.
hey I heard you guys like shoegaze
Dying by Spectres
also Whirr but you probably already kmow about them
Did you like the new Spectres? Everyone seems suspiciously quiet.
Luminous Orange - Drop you vivid colors
Drape - Hike
Candy Claws - Pangea Girls (Magic feeling)
All natural lemon & live flavors - Emergency turn off
MBV - What you want
This was hard.
lol didn't even know it was out yet
i remember not thinking much about the single though
Welcoming the Flowers is pretty awesome
>Luminous Orange - Drop you vivid colors
this was one of those songs that I listened to on repeat for weeks after discovering it
I have nothing against this band, but I swear everytime I see one of their fans irl it's some teenage/early college girl.
always interesting to see non-shoegaze bands do shoegaze

both of these songs are underrated as hell
Listened to keeping the avenues open today again, that bass tone is so good
>We need a better archive base, recc me things to upload and share
Upload albums from Bandcamp and albums in this thread which aren't available on rutracker and soulseek.
youtube.com
underrated
Not OP, but this isn't dream pop, it's lo-fi indie rock.
Is Alcest good live? And how is Kodama?
its definitely dream pop
Recc me similiar albums to souvlaki
>tfw went to bed before this was posted and it's expired when I wake up.
Mind posting it?
