Hey guys can we get Korean Kino thread going?

Hey guys can we get Korean Kino thread going?

I really have been getting into their films lately and am wondering what you lads can recommend to a koreaboo like myself.

Recently I watched The Accidental Detective (탐정: 더 비기닝) pic related and it was hilarious and bad ass at the same time.

I've also seen 살인의 추억 (Memories Of Murder), 아저씨 (The Man from Nowhere), and Old Boy.

Anyways, I enjoy Korean comedy and action so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated !

and

BUMP

Maybe it's too slow in the morning for Sup Forums..

bump..

I Saw the Devil (2010) is a great thriller/horror

The Wailing (2016). I had to watch it twice. This one needs its own thread, but I don't think enough people have seen it yet.

The Wailing has been getting meme'd lately.

I have a bunch of korkinos downloaded I'll watch them when I'm comfy enough.

DUDE REVENGE LMAO

Joint Security Area got me started on Korean films. Fookin excellent

Anything by Lee Chang Dong.
Oasis is great.
Oh, I also enjoyed 3-Iron by Kim Ki Duk.

Chaser
Drug war
No mercy

Thank you guys. This is great!

>Drug war
That's chinese.

Still kino

I legitimately think that Bong Joon Ho is one of the greatest filmmakers alive.

If you liked Oldboy you might also like Sympathy For Mr Vengeance and Sympathy For Lady Vengeance. They are part of the Oldboy "trilogy" in the sense that they are not connected at all but similar and from the same director, actors, etc.

>first koreakino i watched was memories of murder
>haven't found anything too surpass it yet

Please help

>tfw netflix keeps taking off all the best jap movies and gook movies/shows

Newfag here, what do people think of A Bittersweet Life?

I Saw The Devil is pleb-tier.

The Wailing was a mess, what was even happening in that film?

There's no reason to care about the characters, no depth to any of it. The old guy is obviously the bad guy through the entire movie and then in the climax they pretend it isn't obvious he is the bad guy, and that he might be good and some girl might the bad guy instead? What?

it has mostly favorable reviews according to the internet

Chaser is better chink-kino.

If you like romance, try My Sassy Girl (comedy), 3-Iron (drama) or A Moment to Remember (bitchtears-kino).

I watched chaser, didn't like it that much

I watched like 7 korean films and non of them was as good. I really liked Oldboy but it's just pleb tier in comparison.

...

Reversed for me, to be frank my relative

>My Sassy Girl

How sassy are we talking about here?

There is none. Everything else is just revenge flicks.

Try The Good, The Bad, The Weird tho.

Mother
The Chaser
New World

>The Wailing was a mess, what was even happening in that film?
Pleb spotted. The Wailing is 1/3 crime, 1/3 drama and 1/3 supernatural religious horror.

Not afro-american woman tier.

Why do they have such a boner for revenge?

Is it because they are all repressed robots dreaming about killing their teachers and boss?

It's a great film. Definitely watch it.

Thank you. I will. I actually just watched Like for Likes because I'm a faggot like that.

Anyother Romance / Comedies or straight Comedies that you guys can recommend?

...

No, it's because of north korea

Yeah, so its a mess like I said.

Taegukgi hwinalrimyeo is korwarkino.

was pretty good but had to suspend belief

did he have no friends in the police academy or what

Castaway on the Moon.
You'll love it, believe me.

I don't remember what it was called, but it was about two brothers fighting in the Korean war for the south, and end up fighting on different sides.

Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War

...

I'm surprised Mother isn't more popular, honestly. I thought it was better than a lot of the Korean movies that people like to bring up.

Also Thirst, but I guess that one's kind of weird in comparison to a lot of other ones.

Dogblu is faggots

Anyone have any personal thoughts on pic related? I recently picked it up for based Choi Min-Sik, but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

I too like Incomprehensible Korean Letters. Amazing flick!

Is that The Admiral? I heard it's not very good.

>you in charge of reverse google image search

nihon kino is best kino

>you in charge of posting

it's honestly very cheesy with some dodgy cgi
but based Choi is charismatic as fuck and makes the film watchable

Unfortunate. Yi Sun-Shin was a boss and deserves better, but at least I can look forward to Choi doing his thing.

Are there any other Korean films like New World?

Gangster movies where evil cop/gangster wins?

anyone see the newest hong sang-soo film?

...

Bedevilled
THe Chaser
Prisoners of War [My Way]
Oldboy
The Man From Nowhere
I Saw the Devil
New World
Brotherhood of War

Some of my favorites.

>no Memories of Murder

It's like you don't like kino

Who /ddukbokki/ here?

I plan to.

Contemporany Japanese cinema is pretty bad though. Sans Koreeda and Kitano, what do they have?

Never seen it.

A Hard Day. Awesome ending.

Some of Miike's movies are alright.

You should.

i actually totally forgot about it until I saw this thread and reminded me of it, I still have to watch Hill of Freedom though too, I've put that off for a long time now.

I'm a horrible Korean and don't care for dduk, no matter how it's prepared. I never have.
