That's not The World is Yours. Great taste though still.
>When You Sleep
>one love
even though no matter how many times i listen to it i cant follow the story
NY State of Mind is top tier but best is It Ain't Hard To Tell
you mean Memory Lane
title track
both correct although when you sleep is interchangeable with to here knows when
>The City
That's not Life's a Bitch
yes but Fascination Street is second
call it cliche but every time i see this album i think of the FYE (which is now closed) at my local vapor mall and of how much i wanted to kill myself when i was 13.
It Ain't Hard to Tell, or What You Want
The City is correct
>Agoraphobia
>Wonder Years
>mfw Elzhi's Detroit state of Mind is much better than NY State of Mind

Ny state of mind reinvented east coast hardcore
Good taste but I'd say Electricity
Jesus Christ nigga
Did you guys actually listen to the song? I actually think illmatic is much better than Elmatic generally speaking, but Elzhi on DSOM destroyed that track. It's honestly one of the best rap performances put on wax. His rhyme schemes, wordplay, and delivery fire of on all cylinders.
dumb animeposter
also heres a better pic, might be hard to tell from the vinyl
I'd say head south honestly since its basically the "modest mousest" song and the jam at the end is classic
why isnt this an album cover?
I did listen to it and you're obviously not from the NY metro area so you don't get it, and I'll excuse your ignorance
You don't have to be from the NY metro area to see how that user was a retard
I'm not debating how influential it is or how revolutionary it is. I'm arguing purely on the merit of the rap performance, and Elzhi's performance is better than any of Nas' on illmatic. Honestly Nas had better perfomances on some songs in IWW.
DSOM has consistently better lyrics than NY State of Mind though.
Find me a scheme as vivid and well written as
"And police raids, decreased grades; someone deceased made
The front page, the priests prayed he went to heaven, but the beast stayed"
or wordplay in NY State of Mind as good as
"Tryna hustle for more pay, police in my doorway
I never have my head in the clouds cause they could go gray"
hell find me a line on NY State of Mind as good as
"The hood is like a glass house the Devil throws stones through"
I don't even think Elmatic is generally close to as good as illmatic, but DSOM is one of the best rap performances put on wax.
>wanting me to waste valuable shitposting time listening to music
I live in Staten Island, fuck up.
not an argument.
Bodies
>If I'm wrong it's not an argument
Fuck user you solved the world
>these suburbanites pretending to be citi bois
always adorable
I would say novacain stain is a more typical mm song than head south.
this album has a ton of jam songs wich is why i love it so much. pretty much every track except like dog paddle
Lol psh live in Kearny come challenge me to a beat off bring your mpc
I literally just posted an argument up there, either refute it or shut the fuck up. No one cares about your stanning. Hell I'm probably a bigger Nas fan than you, and you're some casual who only bumps illmatic.
>it ain't hard to tell below represent
ya ok dude
bro can i peep your instagram

yes and Pictures of You is third

Vivid, well-written scheme
>And lamp like Capone, with drug scripts sewn
>Or the legal luxury life, rings flooded with stones, holmes
Wordplay
>But just a nigga walking with his finger on the trigger
>Make enough figures until my pockets get bigger
>I ain't the type of brother made for you to start testin'
>Give me a Smith & Wesson, I have niggas undressin'
Better line
>I never sleep, ‘cause sleep is the cousin of death
Fuck

Nigga
bro
>And lamp like Capone, with drug scripts sewn
>Or the legal luxury life, rings flooded with stones, holmes
these are good but how can you even say they have better schemes than what I posted? Not only does the line I posted have more rhymes filled in, it also paints a better scene of the hood and cylical nature of violence topped off with the metaphor. It's just better writing.
>But just a nigga walking with his finger on the trigger
>Make enough figures until my pockets get bigger
>I ain't the type of brother made for you to start testin'
>Give me a Smith & Wesson, I have niggas undressin'
Nig, how these even wordplay? You do know what wordplay is right?
"I never have my head in the clouds cause they could go gray." Is an example of a double entendre effortlessly interwoven into the verse. Another example of great wordplay in DSOM. That also fits into the theme and isn't just haphazardly thrown in is.
"It's just the same story, they cutting more ki's
When someone OD's in the same building on the same story"
That isn't a double entendre but it's pretty obviously wordplay.
>I never sleep, ‘cause sleep is the cousin of death
I'll give you this at least, cause it's prob one of the most iconic lines in rap. Although what I posted is a dope flip on an idiom, but that's 1 for 3.

>Is an example of a double entendre
how
>I never have my head in the clouds cause they could go gray
he obviously means going gray from worrying too much, which is why he stays grounded and not too optimistic. And the clouds going gray which foretell ominous times.
Another example of seamless wordplay.
>Them shorties screamin' they riders, but ain't none of 'em driven
I hope I don't have to explain this one.
why the hate?
what are you talking about?
>he obviously means going gray from worrying too much
what the fucks that supposed to mean?
he's just building off of the original metaphor to convey a single meaning
>shitposting at this level
You've never heard this idiom?
idioms.thefreedictionary.com
He obviously means going gray from worrying too much, anyone can see this. You don't need to look at rapgenius to come to that conclusion. If anything the second explanation of the clouds going gray as in "grey clouds" is more farreaching.
I swear to God I'm not shitposting. I even already conceded that illmatic is much better than elmatic overall, though the latter is still great. DSOM is the only song that really reaches that other level.
It Ain't Hard to Tell

>The New
>Stella was a Diver and she was always Down
shite taste, but also not really, NYC isnt that bad just not as great as the aforementioned
>You've never heard this idiom?
of course i have, did you even read my last post at all? i said he's building off the original metaphor
>He obviously means going gray from worrying too much, anyone can see this.
that interpretation is a stretch considering the phrasing of the line
butterfly
I'm saying "going gray" refers to both the hair on his head (from worrying too much) and the clouds themselves hence making it a double entendre. I will admit, that it does seem like I'm trying to have my cake and eat it too, but why don't you think it applies to both?
>Them shorties screamin' they riders, but ain't none of 'em driven
This is a better double entendre where it's clear he intends for it to mean both ways.

I hate pol too but RTJ are literally white guilt cuck garbage
If you feel bad about being white when you listen to music then that's your cuckass problem.
I never said and I don't feel bad, I'm saying run the cucks keep saying it and people eat that shit up
Don't forget the """tolerance""" by disabling comments and not interacting with any opposing viewpoint they do
yeah, i get what you're saying, i'll give you the benefit of the doubt for this one. it didn't connect because the line is phrased in a way it could normally only mean the clouds turning grey
Yeah how dare they not read my Youtube comments, so much for the tolerant left. They just hate all white people huh. But those Sup Forums comparisons were totally unfounded, right?
>implying youtube comments
I said they disabled them, which proves they want an echo chamber
I also said I hate pol and their retardation but hey liberals don't care about facts
Run the cucks never discuss with anyone, they go on talk shows and circlejerk
Yeah if these rappers really wanted change they'd go on Alex Jones or Rush Limbaugh, get the facts out there.
>Being this retarded
I said the echo chamber they provide is terrible but they want to be an epic #woke band
run the cucks are hypocritical politically illiterate fools
What echo chamber? Apparently you can't even post them on a music forum without triggering some guilty whiteboy thats not from pol but repeats pol image macros verbatim.
>all this buzzwording
We're done here kiddo
You know it's a fucking good album when 7/10 tracks are candidates for best song.
I could see it to now actually. He definitely doesn't just mean his head, at the very least the "they" refers to both his head and clouds. Though I can see why you just think it's clouds. I think he meant it to apply to both, but the phrasing makes it sound like the "they" refers only to the clouds.
Undoubtedly.
>claims to hate pol
>uses the term "cuck" unironically
What did he mean by this?
>If you say one thing you must be a poltard XD
Good to know liberals still have absolutism

It's quite clear you are liberal and that's why you're defending literal cucks who want an echochamber
Well I'm now convinced you aren't the same person I was originally responding to because at least he tried to hide his shitposting somewhat so I'm just gonna stop.
Also, if I wanted an echochamber I wouldn't be posting on Sup Forums would I? It wouldn't accomplish anything, you know it and I know it.
I didn't say you wanted it, I said RTJ did
