no

not stop listening to an artist i already like but disagree with, but if i know beforehand that i will find them retarded i won't even bother checking them out

yes

Actors and musicians should just be seen as dancing puppets there to entertain you and don't take anything they say too seriously.

No

Why the fuck would you do that? Safespace wanker

Actually turned me onto his music instead. Good man for keeping the Lord's word relevant.

Separate the artist from the art, breh

Can someone tell me how does Dave rationalizes his Anarchism with his Christianity? (Romans chapter 13)

No, I but I wouldn't go out of my way to support them financially

No. If it doesn't hurt me, or secondly, anyone else, why should I care? To each, their own.

>Safespace wanker
that's not what that means you faggot
i have no obligation to listen to them, and don't want to for any reason, i won't

If you're referring to top 40 music and movies like Transformers and superhero movies, you have a point.
>Puppets
Please don't go into the Alex Jones territory.

I would also like to know how he rationalizes his Christianity with the song Holy Wars.

Bob Dylan and Mark Hollis are Christians, Nick Cave once was and that didn't stop me from enjoying their music.

nope

Only if they explicitly mentioned them in their lyrics.

That verse is referring to civil governments I believe. So if the government is abusing it's God given power, than it would not be fulfilling the part that says "execute wrath upon him that doeth evil." At least that's my interpretation.
He's probably just against war. Or he sees killing for your religion as a backwards thing.
>Mark Hollis
never knew that

>Mark Hollis
Have you listened to Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock? Clear biblical themes.

>Clear biblical themes
That doesn't mean he's Christian. Modest Mouse and Neutral Milk Hotel do that and they're not Christian.

bet you don't like killer mike bc le kill whitey XD

>Modest Mouse and Neutral Milk Hotel do that and they're not Christian.
citation needed

If i did, I'd only have ted nugent and dave mustaine to listen to.

That they use Biblical imagery or that they are not Christian?

b0th

I can't think any references from Modest Mouse songs with Biblical references off the top of my head, but in ITAOTS he mentions Christ and God several times and talks about miracles and Holy Water. Brock has said he's an atheist and Mangum has said that he doesn't believe in the Bible, but loves the Jesus figure.

I like his music but he hate my kind of skin colour.

fair enough

I have and I will continue to but only when their views become the main topic in their music and it overshadows what they made previously.

No. Vocals of any kind are unintelligible to me most of the time, anyway. Probably something fucky going on with my ears, but I don't really care. It's all about the RIFFS.

It's literally a song about not killing for religion.

If Jesus were alive, he'd be the most anti-war, anti-border, socialist, egalitarian imaginable.

He has risen

brother, i have found you at last!

I didn't like Dave thinking he was a typical left wing scum until I showed an inteview saying he is devout christian, conservative, republican and right wing so I admired him very much, looked into his music and now he's in my top 5 list of goat musicians.

I don't know. Maybe. Mustaine is an exception if so. His riffs and solos are quite good. Guy is the stuff of legends so I'll give him a pass if he's a little preachy and obnoxious about some shit.

This
Why is being famous supposed to put someone in a position of moral authority? If anything it does the opposite, these people are so disconnected from everyday reality you wouldn't believe it.

Is that Emma Watson?

No, it's Justin Trudeau

yes

>le Jesus would have supported my political views meme
This needs to stop
Jesus encouraged generosity and love but that doesn't equate to socialism and open borders in any way.

>socialist,
I really don't want this thread to become a theological or political mess, but I never understood why people assume Jesus would be socialist. He, at least how I personally interpreted it, heavily emphasized charity, which isn't generally a socialist thing. Socialism is involves government redistribution to tae care of the poor/sick and a lot of socialists are very anti-charity.
>anti-war
I'm not sure about this either. But I think it doesn't make sense to apply contemporary politics to religious figures. Especially for people that are religious. Just my two cents.

Yep, sure would. And all these people that want you and I to separate the artist from their opinion? I can't do that either. Why would I support an artist I don't agree with? Just sayin.

i meant to quote
>anti-border
not
>anti-war

yes. no anti-christian or pro-gay communism in my headphones. I can not stand that stuff. there is no rebellion like following Christ and it is so boring listening to kids who think it is some kind of shock value in being as anti-christian as mainstream morning coffe television and there is enough rainbow insanity in everything else.
and I mostly like dungeon synth so this happens daily.and I mostly like dungeon synth so this happens daily

I completely agree, I only listen to christian music like boards of canada and bach

>“If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives.”(Leviticus 20:13)
Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed.(Exodus 22:19)

>"Let the women learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression."(I Timothy 2:11-14)

>"If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silvers, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days."(Deuteronomy 22:28-29)

Do you want me to go on?

When I was younger I would of but not anymore . People can express themselves and I can cope with it

Honestly no, though it starts to be a problem when the lyrics start involving their beliefs. I just deleted a punk band the other day for preaching regressive left views while being mediocre. That's been the first time ever for me. If they were good, I may have tried to overlook it though.

Why did you post a picture of this journalist killer

>People can express themselves and I can cope with it

Did Jesus say literally any of that? No.

Yes. In fact, I literally only listen to artists who expressly agree with my views OR have said nothing that could be construed as going against my views. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt.

>gaythiest quotes the old testament out of context

really makes me think

>Did Jesus say literally any of that? No.
Deutoronomy is a law. Are you saying that God didn't make laws? Isn't the Bible supposed to be a credible source for the word of God?
What's the right context then? And while you're at it, let's look at an uplifting story of genocide for the high crime of making bald jokes:
>2 Kings 2:23-24, “Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!” 24 When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number.”

In short the old testament represents the human condition and old world, it's a very complex work of literature and it needs to be understood in context with the revelation and crucifixion of Christ

Great. And you know all of that is true, how?

>no communism
You're missing out, liberal.

shitty Sup Forumsbait thread

Except not really.

>regressive left

Artist =/= Art
If you can do that for artists you already like, you can do that for new ones.

It's how I grew appreciate Varg's atmospheric style.

Either way, stop bumping.

No?

Because theologists have been studying this for literal millennia, far more than some edgy atheist teenager on the Internet?

No... I disagree with almost every single artist I like but who gives a shit?

only if they were a cunt about it

Oh, theologists? And where's the evidence for the existence of any God human race has conceived?

Can you guys really say you understand the lyrics half the time, anyway? I mean, do you look up all of a bands songs and comb through them to prevent irreparable asspain?

Because that kind of sounds like a pain in the ass.

James 5:1 is my favorite: Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. 2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. 4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. 5 You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.

You can deny a belief in God, but you can't deny the consequences of sin

Right, but what dictates those consequences? What dictates sin?

they have presented evidence (first hand accounts, multiple witnesses, philosophical arguments). other people have presented evidence contrary. if you think that these people just have blind faith then i don't know what to tell you dude.

Well, laws exist. And that how a modern, civilized society treats behavior deemed unacceptable or as you would call it - sin.

I don't like killer mike because he's a shit punchline rapper with a boring flow.

God's law, natural law.

I don't think they have "blind faith", I just think they're misinterpreting natural phenomena and their own intuition.

Ex-Christian, Agnostic-fag here. The Old Testament isn't based on the story of Christ, don't cherry pick verses out of context like a lot of retarded bible thumpers, it's intellectually dishonest.

This. Honestly it makes more sense to me to look at the bible as as literature than straight up doctrine, because most of the book is full of figurative language. Let's you draw more interpretations from it, and it gets kinda fascinating.

what?

All right. Could I see that evidence? Here's the evidence of evolution:
youtu.be/DP53WAkQ5Yc
youtu.be/cC8k2Sb1oQ8

Gods don't exist, there's no evidence for any of them and they don't intervene in human existence.

Natural law being what, exactly? Does nature prevent crony capitalists from squeezing profit out of ignorant consumers? Does nature punish murderers, rapists and thieves of its own accord, proportional to their crimes, or does another human being have to bear witness for punishment to be exacted?

>Ex-Christian, Agnostic-fag here. The Old Testament isn't based on the story of Christ, don't cherry pick verses out of context like a lot of retarded bible thumpers, it's intellectually dishonest.
So, their holy scripture isn't accurate and is contradictory? It's astonishing how you're saying that, given your claim of agnosticism.

Evolution isn't incompatible with Christianity or the belief in God

Of course.

...

Given that there are some religious people who accept evolution.

I think you meant to say the opposite, but I never said there were no contradictions in the scripture. Hence why I said it's more comprehensible as literature than doctrine.

>Hence why I said it's more comprehensible as literature than doctrine.
I agree completely. It's impossible to study the English literature and language without the Bible.

>crony capitalists
They're just called capitalists.

72069458

No (you) for you.

>ignorant consumers

They're just called consumers.

that may very well be, but you said
>And where's the evidence for the existence of any God human race has conceived?
i was just saying that there is evidence, whether or not it proves anything is debatable and is debated often.
here's just a few off the top of my head with Wikipedia pages
>first hand accounts
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/José_Antonio_Fortea
Spanish Catholic priest and exorcist. He wrote few books on his experiences but most are in Spanish obviously.
>multiple witnesses

>philosophical arguments
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C._S._Lewis
Famed author and devout Christian. I picked him because he's one of the most famous contemporary ones and his writings very lively.

i'm not here to convert atheists into believers. just saying that there is stuff out there if you want to do some reading.

yep
why should i like him
reddit the jewels would be shit regardless, el-p is also a fucking hack

no one listened to megadeth for that twat, it was for marty and menza

>well I guess you're not wrong but stop talking anyway

o i am laffinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

gar and chris > nick and marty

No.
Most of my favorite artists have become huge ACLU donors as of late, but I don't hold that against their music.

The only artist I refuse to listen to due to politics is Magma.

I mean I lean a little towards the left and this album is one of my favourites.

Generally I tend to hesitate listening artists if they go full SJW, but it won't stop me eventually listening to and enjoying their shit.
