watching this film without reading the book is pointless fyi

Didn't understand it.

Was pretty disgusted by all the weird gay sex shit.

Mr. Nobody sucked ass

I've never seen this posted on Sup Forums before but a professor of mine made us watch it and it's literally the most pretentious shitty flick I've seen in my entire life.

Here's a sample:

youtube.com/watch?v=JS0n_fr1Fyo

that film was bat shit crazy, but the effects were fucking rad

Schenectady New York

fairly inaccessible even by Godfrey Reggio standards
I liked it though

I can think of two things wrong with that title

Trainspotting

>le edgy nihilist black comedy XD

this bullshit

Interestellar or Inception

did paz play a dumb slut?
was it 10/10 paz or was it WatIsSheOn/10

>Naked Lunch is most pretentious

You lose at life, shithead.

Hey it's the black car mechanic from Calvary

This movie launched the career of Alex Jones.

This movie is about the director of the film, Richard Lankwater, walking from one place or the next, engaging in "philosophical" conversations that might as well be about nothing because the all of them seem to start in the middle and the po-mo obscurantists don't bother to define their terms. He basically just sits down, and listen to these airheads babble on about post structuralist this, and free determination that, nodding his head along as if he understand what the F*CK they are talking about. I think I get the gist that he supposed to be in a dream or something and by the end of the movie, he floats towards the sky, signifying that he "woke up". I guess. He also painted the whole movie so that it is like an animated cartoon which is great because that is the only thing that keeps from being a mega bore. ZZZZZ. Did I mention Alex Jones is in this film, he is one of the people giving philosophical lectures in this film, or in his case a screamy anti-gubmint rant. I think the director just shot him going down the street doing his thing, rolling around town with his big megaphone on his car because by god Alex loves his megaphone! My friends recommended this movie to me, going on about how deep it was. They also recommended "What the Bleep Do We Know?" which was not only pretentious, but wrong too. These movies came out in between the Matrix Trilogy, and I gotta say, as much as I love the Wachowski's, The Matrix ruined my life with conspiracy theorists, pretentiousness, anti-intellectual anti-science bullshit, and these god awful films.

Is this bait? If not you faggots need to kill yourselves.

This if anything in this thread so far.

You should read the book, you sound like you might enjoy it.

Assuming you're able to read for more than five seconds, of course.

This piece of shit right here

Nymphomaniac

Cremaster Cycle

>failed to understand a film therefore it's pretentious
only pretentious one here is OP for creating a thread to demonstrate how refined his taste are

wow you are a shit

Frank

Fassbender's good but that movie was dog shit

Not even a little bit user. They're pretty independent unless you have no idea who Burroughs was.

This and Magnolia are the most pretentious flicks ever made.

Based jarmusch couldn't make a bad movie if he tried.

>he supposed to be in a dream or something and by the end of the movie, he floats towards the sky, signifying that he "woke up".
No user. He was dead. Life was the dream.

Honestly pic related is worse than magnolia.

This unfunny garbage

...

This film.
>creator gets a basic understanding of philosophy
>creates a new "style" just to hide his complete lack of talent
>doesn't even try to develop his stick-figure drawings from film school
It's terrible.

Winner winner chicken dinner
Its the ultimate oscar bait film

this wank

has problems with tone desu ne

Yup. Sup Forums is truly dead. Fuck you, OP. And fuck this board.

I'm out.

This is the worst thread on Sup Forums

>nietzsche quote on the poster

someone put this on youtube. Skimmed through it using the preview thing. Looks like total shit.

Lynch yourself

Gotta tag onto this
There were some "huh, maybe that's true" lines during the hour+ of lectures (maybe I was getting really tired)--but yeah, useful to drown you with boredom into a coma.

>he didn't get it

...

how butthurt are you?

Nic Roeg in general is garbage, easily one of the most overrated directors ever

>cremaster cycle
agree
that was great

>every female loves every jared leto movie because he's handsome

it's a shame nicki minaj is full of plastic because I really want to fap to her.

Best part was the opening credits

Forced to "study" this piece of shit before a luncheon with the director. Class trip and all that.
Basically, Paul was a former student who publically mocked and shit all over my school. The film department wouldn't stop sucking his dick, now that they could say an Oscar winner was a former student.

The guy is the most punchable human you could ever meet. During Q&A he would berate students from my school (he hated us remember) before answering. Or out right refused and went on to another person.
During the lunch itself, he wouldn't stop hitting on the girls sitting near him.

One of the guys at the table got so bored, he cleared his plate and walked out during one of Paul's monologues. Paul called him on it and the dude told him to fuck himself. Almost caused ol'Pauly to pull his endorsement.

Unfortunately the 15 foot posters of this douche are still plastered around campus.

If I didn't get it. Well. Duh. I just didn't. Because all I got out of it was some student film done by an art student whose head was filled with the purple monkey dish washer teachings of POMO "professors" and did this film because this film was practically his life, going from one pseudo intellectual to the next, boring us along the way, but pretending to
"get it" just to get by because honestly that's what anyone would do if in that position. If anything I blame the education system that Republicans love to defund as they point to liberal arts students who partake in these POMO classes as an "example" as why college is bad. I feel sorry for conceptual art school students because they get cheated out life and money and philosophy majors laugh at them. Still it is a bad boring experience all around, and just not a film to discuss or bring up, it just... exists. As far as message goes, that's the best I can come up with, and if I am wrong, than why is it my fault?

Why didn't the director be clear with the message he wanted to give?

As a documentary. or documentary footage it kind of works, because you get to witness first hand the kind of people who pass off as intellectuals in our society, and yes, I chuckle at the prospect of Alex Jones, climate change denier, birther, 9/11 truther, Sandy Hoaxer, Vaccine denier, and all around blowhard dolt being considered an "intellectual" who breaks the chains of people in the matrix.

Otherwise Waking Life is dull and is just another sad footnote in my life.

That's everyone's opinion.
