>"I will totally destroy the Johnson Amendment and allow our religious leaders to speak freely and without fear. I will do that."
Donald Trump, Feb. 2017

>The Johnson Amendment refers to a change in the U.S. tax code made in 1954 which prohibited certain tax-exempt organizations (mosques, churches, synagogues, etc.) from endorsing and opposing political candidates.

He's literally fighting for more religious freedom and freedom of speech (which is the most basic principle of our entire Nation) and you liberal dipshits still try to say he's a bigot?

Meanwhile.....

UC Berkeley students riot, pile debris and set it on fire, and incite violence all to stop Milo from visiting and SPEAKING

"If UC Berkley does not practice free speech, remove federal funds?" -Donald Trump Feb. 2, 2017

Aren't liberals supposed to be "tolerant" and "defenders of free speech"? Aren't they the ones who claim that Trump is the one taking these things away?

Just kind of trying to understand...let's hear your thoughts

It's an idea of something called "Separation of Church and State" so that we would avoid something like the Pope controlling US Politics if the right people got into political power, or if you though political extremists were awful, then try dealing with religious extremists. And the minute a religious organization starts to endorse/oppose a political candidate is when they will lose their Tax-exemption status and get taxed by the government and I don't think they want to lose that.

Who said anyone was "controlling" the government? At this point churches, mosques, and synagogues don't even have a voice in US politics at all. They're comprised of American citizens. Do they not deserve a voice?

You already have FOREIGN muslims influencing elections with massive campaign contributions, are you saying that wall isn't already broken?

>Separation of Church and State
This, OP and simply this.

Just take what happened with Trump and the drones he got to vote for him and still believe in him, but throw in Religious thinking, and it will be worse then what he said.

So you're against free speech if it's tied to any religious organization?

So explain this
What does this even mean? You have yet to explain my OP. You basically just said "hurr durr some people voted for trump." ???

Thee was a reason people freaked the fuck out when John F. Kennedy became president because he was Irish Catholic. During that time period, they were the most loyal to the Pope and followed every rule and word that came out of the Vatican. Now imagine if JFK didn't go to shake the Pope's hand, but instead kneeled to the Pope? That would be basically handing over the USA to the Vatican. And that could be a scenario most likely for the major Western Religions.

Look into what Separation of Church and State does and then come back.

>So you're against free speech
oh hey, this guy gets it

...

Okey doke. The second a church endorses a political candidate, that church loses their tax-exempt status. It also makes it seem like if you don't support that candidate, you can't go to that church. If the CEO of the company you work at says "I like the Minions Movie" you can't say anything to oppose him, or else you get fired. With churches it's worse, because they have "the will of God" bestowed upon them, so saying that you don't like that political candidate is like saying God chose that political candidate and not voting for them means you're not following the will of god.

I'm fine with it as long as he removes their tax-exempt status

>"Separation of Church and State"
That isn't what that means.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press...
The first part is specifically addressing the Church Of England. If you don't know, way back in the way back when, a King you've probably never cared about decided he wanted a divorce. The Pope said no, so the King said "Fuck you, I'll make my own church with hookers and blackjack" and established the Church Of England as the official religion of England with himself as the head of both Church and State. The State said you had to follow the Church, and the Church said you had to obey the State.

The Founding Fathers didn't want that kind of thing to happen in the USA, so they made a rule that you cannot establish an official "Church of The USA" and outlaw the practice of any other religion.

It does *not* mean that people of faith should not be able to speak about the government.
>speak against the government and lose your privileges
Hmm...where have I heard that one before?
But that isn't what the Johnson Amendment is about, anyway. It doesn't prohibit them *speaking* in favor of or against a politician, it just prohibits them from making campaign donations or providing free services (rallies, catering, etc) that a campaign would normally have to pay for. OP is wrong in thinking this is about free speech, they already have that. It's about making political donations tax-deductible by passing them through the church before giving them to the candidate.

Haven't you been paying attention? Everyone switched attitudes after the election. The right got so comfortable they became social justice crybabies constantly reposting fake facts about how oppressed they are and the leftie libtards grew a sack and started swinging. Get ready to hear the phrase "gun toting liberal" after those fucking nuts shoot up the next "we president now" cheeto chimpout.

this

The basic principle of our nation is the freedom to practice any religion, the complete opposite of an unsecular state.

>It also makes it seem like if you don't support that candidate, you can't go to that church.

Who implied this at all? That's what you're coming up with in your own head

>If the CEO of the company you work at says "I like the Minions Movie" you can't say anything to oppose him, or else you get fired

Are you pretending this isn't literally happening right now with CEO's who have extreme liberal beliefs? They're firing their employees OR they're giving employees PAID time off to go to protests. Your post is hypocritical as fuck m8

let churches do all the endorsing they want

start taxing them for it. catholic church has billions and those prosperity gospel assholes are rolling in money.

strip all religious organizations of tax-exempt status while we're at it.

You haven't explain shit honestly. Maybe it's you who needs to do some reading and come back if you can't verbalize your position?

Proof?

>The right got so comfortable they became social justice crybabies constantly reposting fake facts about how oppressed they are

Why would white people not bear the brunt of liberal anger these days? How could that not be so given the climate? Do you have down syndrome?

>CEO's who have extreme liberal beliefs

I worked at home depot, had to sit through some of the most batshit insane conservative propaganda that the heads of the corporation shoved down our throats

not just the classic "unions are evil" horseshit either. they went all out.

target and walmart do this kind of nonsense too. i imagine if you worked at some shithole like hobby lobby they'd probably force their christfag faggotry on you as well.

>literally happening right now with CEO's
This is happening with everyone, user. Walking outside wearing one of the President's trademark hats will cause random strangers to throw shit at you, sucker punch you, etc.

why would you wear one of those faggotty made-in-china rags to begin with?

don't get me wrong, it's hugely useful when other people out themselves as shitlords. less guesswork on my part. i know exactly who i don't want to deal with.

This fucking thread is proof you fucking mong. Cry moar.

But do you get fired for saying you "support unions"? No, of course not because it's illegal.

However people ARE getting fired, reprimanded, and punished in the workplace for saying "I voted for Trump."

It's a double standard and it's hypocritical as fuck.

Don't give a fuck who the church gives to but if they're making political donations, they should lose their tax exempt status. I donate to shit all the time and see marijuana as a spiritual release. My ass is still going to pay taxes but they wouldn't? Fuck that.

Though to be honest, I lost my faith in churches having tax free status when I used to work at AT&T and this pastor would come in every year to get the new iPhones ( no 16gb models either) and paid 0 taxes on that. I'm sorry but you don't need a fucking $850 phone to teach the word of God. Fucking crooks.

Oh, ok. So you pulled that out of your ass and tried to pass it as fact? Cool. Typical liberal.

I didn't say white people. Where did you see a whole race called out? Your hood is showing and I'm pretty sure it's still open season on nazis even if you are a potato.

>Let's say someone gets killed by a liberal with a gun for their political beliefs
>They start calling them gun toting liberals
>"See! I called it!! Those stupid right wingers!!"

What the fuck?

So any and all tools that are used to "teach the word of God" should be taxed? Where do you stop with that though? Are you going to tax every pen a muslim uses to write in a notepad? Are you going to tax every notebook a follower of judaism buys for their sunday school class? It's a slippery slope and not effective at all.

...

Better question is; Why WOULD white people alone bear the brunt of liberal anger? Because they have an opposing free point? Because you can't "tolerate" someone who disagrees peacefully with you? You're hypocritical as fuck man

>Right have become crybabies
Oh lawd, somebody peppersprayed a screaming nazi! Imma go tell the internet!
>libs sack up
Oh, a nazi. Time to punch and burn shit.

How much more proof do you need besides your active butthurt.

>thread devolved quickly
hella triggered over minor disagreements, you stupid normies

My post isn't bait, I want an honest answer and so far I haven't seen one.

>I didn't say white people. Where did you see a whole race called out?

Because the right has a massive white following doing the exact same thing that you're talking about, and if that's not what you mean, you're even fucking stupider than I thought at first. You obviously have no understanding of the context or climate if you're seriously asking where white people are claiming to be oppressed. You're almost mentally challenged.

>But do you get fired for saying you "support unions"? No, of course not because it's illegal.

Are you high or just retarded? My guess is you've never worked at any actual place.

You''ll get fired easily if they catch you trying to unionize. They'll find an excuse to fire you and there is pretty much fuckall you can do about it. They're not going to be dumb enough to write you a letter saying "we fired you because you talked about unions". they'll make up a reason and it'll be your word vs theirs if you even manage to bring it before the EEOC or the National Labor Relations Board.

if they don't outright fire you, your hours will be reduced to next to nothing to make you quit.

if you manage to get your store or location unionized, places like wal-mart or target will just shut the store down. they don't give a fuck how profitable the location was.

>somebody punched a screaming nazi

a) she wasn't screaming
b) how was she a nazi exactly?

You can't just label someone undesireable to justify you physically assaulting them

And I'm not even on that team. I voted right, but I'm not going to turn tumblr like the rest of you faggots just because our guy won. He hasn't even done anything tet.

And how is this any different than liberals doing the same thing if they catch wind that you hold conservative beliefs? It's not.

Sure, kid.

FINE, they punched her for the hat. Probably not because she was supporting a self identified nazi. You got me.

nah, there was already a good post earlier but you ignored it because you want a shitflinging fest.

i've yet to hear of this happening on any significant level.

do you have proof?

theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/04/conservatives-discrimination-universities/480372/

>Why WOULD white people alone bear the brunt of liberal anger?

Because we're the least oppressed mate. We're not the minority. That gives any liberal an opening to attack. Does this logic seriously escape you? "You haven't gone through slavery or the civil rights movement", does that phrase sound familiar to you? "You haven't been oppressed like black people or Asian or Mexican people have".

Based on these two phrases, liberals are given free reign to attack us in order to put us on a level playing field, they believe this to be righteous. Your own brain went into thinking this wasn't that bad as you were reading this, I fucking know it. Based on these statements, we are allowed to be racially profiled like we have been taught our whole lives is wrong.

Two wrongs don't make a right, that's as simple as it gets. People are getting called nazis for their skin color. That's racism. The part that escapes anybody with an IQ over 10 is that you can't be racist to people just because they "haven't had it that bad." All racism is wrong, and that's really all there is to it.

>climate
You keep saying that word. I don't think it means what you think it means

are you people seriously just running around slugging anybody in a trump hat now because you think it's justified somehow? stinks of fascism and using violent force to silence an opposing viewpoint, imo

>But on the other hand, the populist right does tend to overstate the bias [against conservative professors] that does exist. Conservatives can succeed and make it in the university. There are things like tenure, which are very important and protect academic freedom.

quoted from that exact article. i don't think you bothered to read it, i think you googled and linked whatever you found first that fit your narrative.

no data. no case studies. just an interview with two authors about how some anonymous professors feel scared.

So you're saying because it happens 500 times instead of 502 times it's not a thing that really happens?

Fuck outta here. Your position doesn't hold water, clown.

No you dumb fuck. Jesus and his apostles were able to build an entire fucking religious with tags on their back and leather straps on their feet.

In no way does someone need a nearly $1000 smartphone for this shit. Fuck you.

its called an amendment, is it a constitutional amendment?
cause if it is there is no way trump would be able to change it.

Oh, ok. So now it went from $800 phone, to $1000 phone....will it be $1,500 in your next post?

You're using absolute extremes and exaggerations to try and justify your position. Could that be because you're quite possibly wrong?

Don't get angry because I asked you to explain the position you're trying to take.

Also who are you to tell them what they do or don't need? This is the problem with socialist prick kids. They want to tell everyone ELSE how they should do things, what they do and don't need, but the first time someone does it to them they throw a bitchfit.

Grow the fuck up already.

>contards bitch about welfare queens
>this is somehow ok

Sorry that you're retarded. $850 and nearly $1000 aren't so fucking so off. Didn't want to sound like a tape recorder but can't do much with you. Go back to fucking your sister you fucking monkey.

Again, tell me what a priest needs with a nearly $1000( fuck you) phone that they couldn't do with a $100 burner. Also they did this every year with every new iPhone launch.

If you want to give some crooks your hard earned money, so tight ahead. Fucking sack of shit.

The biggest issue isn't really the actual speech, but the money that is now recognized as speech. Removing the Johnson act, will allow anyone to anonymously funnel almost unlimited money to the candidate of their choice, by donating through a church.

I'm greatly enjoying the absolute power takeover that seems to be completely self-unaware.

The effects of trying to turn the US into a right wing republican showcase of bad ideas all at once is, nevermind the disaster, the best possible bad example lefties could hope for,to ensure the pendulum swings back even harder and smashes the clock completely.

I always half-joked about USA being headed on its way to a roman style collapse after WWII. DIdn't think I'd actually get to see it happen in my own lifetime though lol.

Every day, gets a little closer

The official ones, the ones sold by Trump's campaign site, were made in LA.

Liberalsim is a mental disorder

Churches are going to be popping up like wildfire if this goes through.
