Collective bargaining and unionization are good things, especially in the industrial age where businesses can have thousands of easily and equally disposable employees. Unionization allows for workers to band together and fight for better work conditions, competitive pay and benefits, retirement packages, etc...
Truth be told, you wouldn't need unions if the government had backed worker's rights from the beginning.
Besides, unions also provide skilled and trained labor, which is the trade-off that companies get for the higher pay. Sure, some unions can be shitty, but trade unions like the IBEW, the Teamsters, the UBC, the Ironworkers, the Pipefitters, the Boilermakers, the Machinists, etc... churn out highly-skilled labor and are an asset to the middle and working classes.
But I guess you're right. Unions are just an absolute evil and businesses will value an employee for their dedication and hard work because it's the right thing to do.
