Don't pay attention to the flag, I'm from there. By the way, this is the map of the new region which does not make any sense culturally speaking.
Pros : sun, sea, mountains, great food and wine, nice cities.
Cons : lots of rain, lots of boring countryside in the Landes, very stupid people in the basque country and in Bordeaux.
Overall, one of the best places to live in.

The departement already did not make any sense culturally speaking
Pic related is how France should be divised if it were by ethnicity.
Not much. For those who can appreciate that, it's a good thing.
>The departement already did not make any sense culturally speaking
Isn't it all Occitan at least
There is no France in Paris
The biggest maritime-pine forest in Europe, Landis forest, is there

Your map doesn't reflect well what today ethnic French are. As for the départements, I know one in Aquitaine that was well done, as it leaves no one in another one : Pyrénées-Atlantiques. But it should have been two instead of one, as it englobes both Basques and Béarnais.
Occitanie is a made-up region based on a dialect family. Even though we have similarities, we are not "the same" in all southern France.
It's large, but there are so many roads and fields inside that I wouldn't call it a forest.

Ancient Aquitanians were Basques

Not all Anquitanians were Basques since we have Gaulish inscritions from Aquitania
