When does it get good?

When does it get good?

when we talk about the bonus situation

right

Right after you develop some taste.

BTFO

I'm 30 minutes in and nothing's happened.

Maybe movies aren't your thing.

As soon as Winona Ryder has that topless scene.

It's a thing called "pacing".

30 minutes though? A movie should go 30 whole-ass minutes with nothing happening? That's not engaging to me as an audience member.
And it's not like the characters are interesting either.

Maybe if you payed attention to the movie instead of posting on Sup Forums you'd find it interesting.

Bait

>nothing happening, just growns up talking about grown up things.

I see the problem here.

get the fuck out to reddit already nigger cock muncher

...

go fucking watch iron man or something

>nothing happening

Dude look at the set designs, tune into the perfect atmosphere, notice the way the camera moves effortlessly aboard the Nostromo towards amazing frames.

There's plenty going on in the first half hour if you know what to look for.

It doesn't matter if it looks good and sounds good if it's boring.
Did you love 2001: A Space Odyssey too?

Why do girls pretend to care about the bonus situation?

About thirty seconds in, but the first twenty-nine seconds are pretty lame

TBQH

It might not be viable for a movie with a lot of shit happening, like a thriller with betrayals / twists / etc.,
but for a simple premise like this (slasher-flick in space, basically) you can do a lot of world-building without completely fucking up your run-time.

This is what makes the movie great.
Alien to me is about the atmosphere and world.
And the characters, while very mundane, are some of the most realistic and believable I have ever seen in cinema.

From what you're saying I guess you'll like Aliens a lot more, though.

Actually film is a mostly visual medium of escapism. You'll learn this as your cinematic knowledge grows.

And yes, 2001 is one of my favorites, and IMO the greatest movie of all time in terms of what it represents and how it accomplishes these themes.

I take it you are relatively new to film?

No, I'm not new. The visuals are very important, but I'd still but writing and acting above it.

And 2001 is a pretentious piece of shit that drags on too long for no fucking reason.
>inb4 I didn't understand the ending
It's a simple movie, I'm just not a fan of the execution.

You're right, user. I probably am just wilin out.
I don't think I'm in the mood for this type of movie right now, I just wanted to get it out of the way.
I might check out that new Netflix show instead.

I loved Alien even back as a 13 year old ultra pleb, if you can't handle a film gently building up instead of throwing out explosions on screen within the first 5 minutes then maybe you should stick to Marvel flicks.

>2001 is a pretentious piece of shit

d>falling for this 2016 b8
reddit pls go

>posting garbage
>thinking you're better than redditors

Well there were several best actress and supporting actress awards for this film, so it's probably just your taste that's shit honestly.

>pretentious

This is my favorite word on Sup Forums, a guaranteed pleb filter.

2001 is captivating, entrancing almost. I watch it once a year at least.

I fell asleep.

Rest in piss.

boy howdy you sure are mad

Disappointed would be a more fitting description.
