Freemason thread. Ask me anything

Freemason thread. Ask me anything.

Pic unrelated.

On the square.

what was that gay video people were all about a week ago? you said ask anything

That's true! Probably a new Pitbull song or something?

Prove it. Apprentice.

Letter it and begin.

I was taught at my initiation to be cautious. I cannot letter or halve it unless the room (I.e. this forum) is properly tyled.

Good. Grand lodge or small local?

Member of a lodge that's local to me, part of UGLE in the UK. Are you a fellow brother?

How does it feel knowing that Mormons are just better Freemasons?

...

What do you actually do? Not like grand conspiracy stuff, but what would a normal meeting or activity be?

If I'm not mistaken, and feel free to correct me - Mormonism is a religion, Freemasonry is a fraternal framework for the improvement of one self and the world. It is not a religion itself although every Mason will have a belief in a higher power of some kind.

pfffff get out of here leb

Yes, central London.

Ever get strange reactions from people when they learn you're a mason? I've met some tinfoil hat tier people whe accused me of "being a slave to the Illuminati" and some that are curious and would likely join themselves. mostly positive overall.

There's the 'ritual' part which is essentially parables or moral plays based on actual masons that built King Solomon's temple. Before and after that there's a lot of socialising and meeting people who, in my experience, are grateful to have company and enjoy having a positive place away from work and home to improve themselves.

Different Masons will give different answers as I think we all come into Freemasonry with different expectations, and get different benefits and enjoyment out of it.

Some people are initimidated because of the Illuminati rubbish that goes around. Generally though, most people are intrigued and think it must be quite prestigious.

I'd love to be able to recommend friends up here as potential candidates but haven't found anyone who has both a belief in a higher power, and enough interest. I've found it's become more interesting as I've taken on different roles in my lodge.

...

Why?

what are the rituals like? weird or just boring?

neither

I really enjoy learning my lines and playing a role, if you can imagine it's like learning a historic play with some strange / antiquated use of language then you'd be half way there. If you've ever studied Shakespeare it's not as strange as that I think.

Some of the normal stuff we do to start a Masonic meeting isn't boring, but after a while it's very routine. You get used to it, but then every year they change your role and you get to learn a different aspect which keeps it fresh. At the same time it comes with a lot of moral metaphors which are always interesting to unravel.

no shit. sounds interesting actually.

What's the sign of distress?

How old is your grandmother

It's literally that. You might know some stuff about it if you know the name already. It's a sign you would make to a Brother if you were in distress, traditionally at least.

>free masonry

Would you build a stone barbecue pit in my backyard for free?

This is not for here.

Yeah but how do you make it?

Haha! Most of us aren't what we would call 'operative' masons. We use a mason's tools as metaphors for moral guidance.

ok, will you please explain how the hell do u know each other from a far?
like there was an incident where we got lost, had a freemason friend with me, he said its alright, wait and he didnt call anybody nor he like shouted, we just talked and some random guy came up and said welcome.. and he helped us... my friend said thats how u brothers help each other...
i tried to make it brief sorry if u got lil confused... but it wasn't planned... just random guy came and introduced himself and he was a Freemason too... and my friend knew that as just he came to us. was there like an international sign that u guys do that identifies u as a freemason ?

I'd like to understand why you think that. Sky 1 just had a show on it, if that doesn't open it up for discussion I don't know what does. Interested to read why you think this.

^ that lame long ass story... i meant that sign

If you did the sign of distress, I'd recognise it. I could then ask questions about Freemasonry to figure out if you're a Mason or not.

If I really had to check I could ask for which lodge you're with and ask my secretary at my lodge to confirm.

Freemasons are charitable, it's one of the most important principles we believe in so it's great you had a charitable experience with one!

Do you guys accept/allow Muslims? What's the general thought on us?

You believe in a higher power, so do I. I'm not Muslim but I would accept you no problem. My lodge would make an effort to serve you a halal dinner, like they make an effort to ensure my food is dairy free (allergy).

I'm an ethnic minority, just to give you some perspective, and it's never caused any issues.

Can you give me a $60 xbox gift card?

Heading to bed bros. That was cool. Thanks for being open minded and not resorting to trolling or memes. Take care.

On
The
Square?

yea i guess they knew it from the sign and probably the "hand shake" lol
yea since that incident happened he let me meet up with older people from the free masons and i learned a lot from them...
the best thing is, they're successful in life and enlightened and surprisingly they have an answer to most problems.

If you are a surgeon and someone arrive with a average life treat damage (freemason) and a random person with bigger treat to life damage, who do you help first? Tell the truth.

Another. If your frater is a corrupt politician, everyone is sure about that. What the lodge will do about that?

That's pretty interesting. What do you guys generally do? Like what's the purpose of the Masonry and its meetings? What are the requirements to join?

If you only guys dropped the spiritual/theist approach I'd apply in a heartbeat
