Whats the obsession with Kendrick Lamar?

Kendrick Lamar's new album has a 98 on Metacritic but I guess that may drop, it's only based on 5 reviews. I think hes so damn overrated and just thinks he's "deep" and "inspirational". He's a mediocre rapper like any other out there.

I'm not a fan of black people.

I don't have any problem with Kendrick. I think he's pretty good, if he's amazing I'm not sure we can really judge that, but it's telling that right after Yeezus dropped and people knew Kanye couldn't go anywhere from there they were looking for someone to replace him.

You couldnt post this in one of the other hundred Kendrick threads? You really thought this was worth starting yet another fucking thread about him? Fuck off.

Outside of him just being a good rapper, he actually has interesting things worth saying.

I dont have a problem with him either.. he's good, its just the over exaggerated hype around him is puzzling

Dont feel like sifting through a bunch of cucks sucking his dick, no thanks.

There is none, just really intense and obvious viral marketing. Also, the good part of it makes me want to get into marketing because I know a bit about it and I could probably make some good money through it.

>Let me put the head in
>Let me put the head in
>Let me put the head in

damn....

Hip hop is stale.. no one will ever do anything better than "decent" or "pretty good" with the genre as it is. We need some fresh blood.

People are just obsessed with black people these days.. but yea totally viral marketing for sure I agree

How is it stale when it's still selling extremely well?

There's barely anything interesting happening in mainstream music right now, so some talented hip hop artist making politically charged and interesting music is exciting. I think he's probably one of the most important artists of this time, so that's also pretty exciting to see how it's all going to turn out for him.

Nah, he good.

You do know the minimum salary for a marketing specialist is $60,000 a year right? That's decent money.

It's cyclical. Kanye was 35 when Yeezus came out and everyone was like "Shit he's Old Now who can we get to replace him as our Critical Darling?"

GKMC came out before Yeezus and was circlejerked here when it came out.

You fuckers keep on going on about how he is a mediocre rapper but rarely specify much substance as to why he is a mediocre rapper other than cheap thoughtless dot points such as "nasally voice".

You want to discuss this? How about giving some substance to your claims. The people who like Kendrick may be "mindless drones and mainstream dickriders" but at least they can provide substance as to why they like him more often than those who don't.

It's the same "muh institutional racism" schtick that a hundred other "woke" "conscious" rappers are doing.
GKMC was enjoyable because it was an old-school concept album with great storytelling, but TPAB and especially this is just emperor's new clothes

Kendrick is a mainstream garbage. I listen to REAL hip-hop, like XXXtentacion and lil peep.

Being a non rap listener I just don't get the hype at all. It's sounds decent at best 6.5/10 but isn't the best music of the decade or something.
Artists like MF Doom or NWA for instance sound far superior to him.
I get the feeling that it is more about the celebration of the liberal political ideologies in his albums that make them "groundbreaking" especially with today's political scenario.

selling doesnt equal quality. you should know this

Guess what else is selling well.

>the liberal political ideologies in his albums

Well no wonder that I don't care for it at all and don't buy any of it. Those ignorant political ideologies most liberals have are just nonsensical and stupid.

>substance substance substance

Only retarded 19 year Olds praise that dumbass. He's not good at all

Kendrick's last album struck me as like, socially-conscious Outkast or something. It was tight. Still it left me with the sense that he's got more growth in store.

1992 was 25 years ago. It's not a well-remembered year for pop music, in spite of grunge. I like a lot of it, though. There's some good R&B and rap from that time which I remember best.

>I LOVE YOU JESUS CHRIST
>Semen stains the mountaintops

damn…

Fucking christ anyone can do this about anything, this cherrypicking meme is stupid

but at least its catchy

Well you're objectively wrong.

He is, the greatest artist of our generation.

Every criticism of Kendrick I've read on this board is vague comments about he's trash. At least try, goddamn.

not even a hiphop fan but TPAB is the best album of the decade so far

um MBDTF was 2010 ..

everything ive seen is about >muh institutional racism

Agreed. Kendrick's done. The interscope marketing team has given him the "black power/black lives matter" persona because it's what's popular right now and they know it can sell really well

>MBDTF
>good
kek

Confirmed niggers. You people are not welcomed here. Get out.

>He's a mediocre rapper like any other out there.
what the fuck are you talking about

>but I guess that may drop, it's only based on 5 reviews.
