Why are Anglo countries so superior in sci-fi?

Why are Anglo countries so superior in sci-fi?

fear, no really

the island mentality, yes usa too, gives a very different perspective than the european "we got fucked already"
fear generates a need to examine the society and where it's going and sci fi gives the freedom for examination in a comparative dystopia way

pls don't quote i need it for a paper soon

also why japan features a very specific type of sci fi
monster-invasion
even though they were not technically invaded all their "social change" came from a violent foreign act so that their sci fi tends towards monster/supernatural, NGE, Ultraman, power rangers, etc etc, they are all metaphor for the atomic bomb

Not having the best and brightest of your generation getting mindlessly slaughtered and your infrastructure demolished first in 1910's and then in the 1940's so they could focus on imagining trivial stories for their hedonistic amusement probably helped.

Also
>subjective and incoherent listing with clear anglo-american bias used to prove anything

>planet of the apes
>pierre boule

> Trivial stories
This is why foreigners are not good at sci-fi; they do not realise that sci-fi is neither about science nor fiction.

The best sci-fi describes real-world, contemporary problems.

>star trek
>usa

We just love it.

>This is why foreigners are not good at sci-fi; they do not realise that sci-fi is neither about science nor fiction.

That's how all sci-fi mostly is nowadays

how all sci fi always ways
even fantasy, they really have very little to do with magic or science

But it is American?

>ways
was*

Solid British roboid film. Director wrote another solid British sci-fi film Sunshine, and 28 Days Later.

Oh as well as Dredd, another alright British sci-fi/comic film.

Because that list was made by an anglo

Want an example?
Matrix is at the 8th place but isn't an original idea, the Wachowski brothers have openly admitted that they copied the idea after seeing the italian movie Nirvana (1997)

I thought they ripped it off from Ghost in the Shell? In any case, the Matrix is way more influential than Nirvana.

We produced one (1) sci fi writer and even he was more of a pornographer than anything.

>Alien
>USA only not British-American film

Bit cheeky seeing as it was made in the UK using world class British production crews and prop masters - Ridley Scott too of course.

Because was made with a big budget, english language, popular actors, etc. etc.
It's the same with other things like The Departed, it's a remake of the Honk Kong movie Infernal Affairs but how many people think it's original? If you have watched Infernal Affairs you know that The Departed is just the same movie with the same scenes (and with better actors), but how many people watched Infernal Affairs? 1M? How many watched The Departed? 50M, and that's why The Departed is more influential exactly like Matrix and Nirvana and many others
If Bingo Bongo from fuking Zimbabwe creates an awesome song because he's a great artist and then Diseney buy his song and does a cover with some teen star, who ends up being more influential? Obviously the teen star because millions of people will hear her song thanks to promotion, but who is the real merit? Obviously Bingo Bongo, but no one will ever know

All of that is true, but it doesn't mean the Matrix isn't more influential. I mean, napoleon built on generals before him and wouldn't have been so important without them, but he's still more influential than them.
