Oh, I played that one years ago. Sadly th wii was the last nintendo platform I was planning on buying a 3ds but when I heard about the switch coming soon I changed my mind and I won't be getting the switch any time soon.

I've never played any of the metroid games, I used to play other games. I didn't have many games on my wii and the ones I had were mostly shooters.... I was one of those insane people who played COD on the wii (which was actually kind of good if you were prepared to overlook the graphics).
Please play them. Starting with Super Metroid.
SM is my favorite game of all time, those games are superb.

I'll give it a try once I get myself an emulator for my pc. And about the COD... many of my friends played it and kind of convinced me to get it. The game was pretty meh when compared to the other versions, but it was pretty fun and goofy to play for a little bit.

I no longer have my wii, and the only nintendo thing I still have is the OG ds, the fat and heavy one. I highily doubt it's good for playing first person shooters. But there will be a nationaly holiday in 2 months where people sell a ton of used stuff, I might be able to find something interesting there.

Metroid is a fantastic series and it's such a shame about what happened to it.
I would reccomend Zero Mission first, if only because it's a remake of metroid 1

Has there been any indication of a new title in the works? I wouldn't get a switch off that alone, but it would definitely move me toward getting one eventually. More Xeno, another Smash, and better 3rd party support than the Wii U would sell me on it.

I agree, part of me would rather have them work on a new installment and then it turns out badly versus leaving a series to collect dust in the closet and then they pull a Daikatana/Duke Nukem many years later. A long wait followed by a crap game is doubly insulting.
The last good Metroid was (arguably) during GBA era, so it's been getting to that point just a bit.
They need to make a good one, then if they really want they can leave the series alone for a bit.

I liked Prime, but I'll always prefer 2D Metroid to 3D. Part of the reason why I enjoy Metroidvania games so much, even if the formula is predictable.
Federation Force though...it's not absolute crap, but it's pretty forgettable.

Sure, it had all the metroid elements, but the soul wasn't there in my opinion. Also I'm a 2D purist.
