/my/, I'm a big fan of old post punk bands like Joy Division (and parts of New Order), Jesus and Mary Chain and The Cure but I want to find modern bands in the same vein? Any ideas?

A Place To Bury Strangers
Post more albums and I will make a modern post-punk chart.
Pick an album from these artists to add to the chart.

Captive shares members with Institute
Only standout album from any of these is this.
I was not able to be as picky as I wantto since I just need to fill out the chart before taking albums off of it.
this already exists and it's shit and yours will be shit too
I couldn't find it in the sticky, where is it? Mine will probably be shit, that's not going to stop me from trying.
...
I trimmed some of the fat, is it better? Should I start a new thread just for this?
>no deathnconsciousness
Immediately invalidated
get rid of street sects, shits ass
add cemetery
swap captive and institute/create another row for more underground shit
nix preoccupations maybe
make a bigger chart
more albums:
>these new puritans – hidden
>have a nice life – deathconsciousness
I added the ones you mentioned, but I really want to use a different chart making site, Topsters2 is really limiting. Also the stuff closer to the bottom is less set in stone, everything at the top is pretty well agreed upon.
Don't post if here if you want to help with the modern post-punk chart, I will be making a new thread for that.
Are you at all a fan of Above the Ruins?

>I'm a big fan of literally the worst groups to come out of the movement
>joy division
>bad
Where did I say that?
Their music is just unremarkable outside of its influence.
Not who you are replying to but in English "worst" does mean "the most bad" and it's incoherent to recognize music as influential while finding it unremarkable. They had a sound that a lot of people identified with and many who started bands would appropriate in part or wholesale, if it was unremarkable music no one would bother to do this.
how about these guys

Seconding Chain of Flowers, Hairspray Queen, and WAY OUT.

Yeah but so much good shit came out of Post-Punk that most bad is still passable
This, 10/10 album.
Does this count as post punk? It basically sounds like modern Depeche Mode but maybe it's more synthpop.

Shooting Guard from Athens GA is the closest thing to 'modern post punk' I've heard that actually sounds modern and not dudes just cribbing shit from the 80s
