This cancer keeps happening every now and again, I've tried multiple times searching to fix this, and still haven't succeeded, any pc fags able to help?

dunno what's happening to your computer. Care to explain when this happens?

Have you overclocked? What's your RAM setup?

kek

and me neither dude...
it honestly happen at random times, but I feel it's when I have too much happening at one time or try to open a program etc

not overclocked, it's a laptop, couple years old, 8gb ram

It depends. I can help you, but you must be underage and you need to have a webcam or a camera in hand.

Otherwise you can just kill yourself, after cleaning up your memory stick with an eraser, and using something to clean up the contacts in your motherboard.

bsod is generally linked with bad ram, or a faulty HD.

tomshardware.com, patience

install any new hardware recently?

Uh, still hard to figure out what it can be.

Take this picture of Robbie Rotten. Save it on your computer, and it shouldn't crash now.

rip me

>patience

no sir

will do, based Robbie

looks like it's caused by nvlddmkm.sys
Try this:

user, check out drivereasy.com/knowledge/nvlddmkm-sys-video_tdr_failure-blue-screen-error-solved-on-windows-10/

Sounds like a graphics driver issue, shouldn't be too hard to fix.

wheeyyyyy thanks, will try this, hopefully it is a simple fix

Fucking cancer in this thread.

nvlddmkm.sys is your Nvidia graphics card driver. Your Nvidia is crashing, possibly due to drivers or overheating or physical damage.

Download the latest drivers. Choose clean installation of files. If that doesn't fix the issue. Restore to a backup from when it wasn't happening.

If either of the above two don't help, consider investing in a new graphics card.

If graphics are on-board. Then you need a new computer.

what game is this?

>windows
There's your problem right there.
Switch to Linux Mint. You'll even still be able to run most windows executables and games natively in linux itself (not needing a dual-boot or virtual machine). There is no reason to keep using windows. You won't even need to learn anything new to just pick it up and start using it. The GUI is practically the same (right-click->open with, ctrl+c, ctrl+v, all that shit).

You Tit
About 75% of BSODs are driver related

>Linux

Yeah, no thanks. I actually want to play games and use my programs, not type in a cmd box just to open up program files.

Only if you are a nigger who doesn't know how to install your drivers properly.

You didn't even finish reading the post, did you?

Go to your NVIDIA folder (located in C:\NVIDIA), and look for the file named nvlddmkm.sy.

Next, copy the file at the root of C:. In most cases, this file name is C:\nvlddmkm.sy_.

Now, head to the system folder that houses your drivers (in many cases, this is C:\Windows\System32\drivers\).

Locate the nvlddmkm.sys file, and rename it as nvlddmkm.sys.old.

Now, open the command prompt by pressing the Windows key + R and typing cmd.

Type cd, followed by the Enter key. Then, type expand.exe nvlddmkm.sy_ nvlddmkm.sys, and press Enter again.

This command will allow you to unzip the nvlddmkm.sys file (which was previously saved at the root of C:) and create a new file instance.

Copy the new file to C:\Windows\System32\drivers, and then restart your PC to let the changes take effect.

You could also do a fresh driver install.

yoza, thanks for the tips...I figured it was some aids to do with my driver. My whole computer has gone rip when this started happening, windows update fails to find updates, nvidia doesnt update automatically anymore etc...perhaps it's time for a new computer

I couldn't. I had to tun on Wine but it doesn't workt and then my laptop broke so I had to install Windows agian.

I love how the google generation actually believes this is a driver's problem.

re install the nvidia driver, nvlddmkm.sys is a nvidia driver file

Okay, so you're an idiot.
Maybe you NEED to stick with Windows, then.
Have fun with that.

thanks for the detailed instructions, gotta try everything!

Buy a Mac

Yes, I'll stick to Windows, where I can actually use major programs and play games without having to write lines of code each time I turn them on.

You don't post any specs of your laptop either? How the fuck are we supposed to know what is happening.

My estimate is that because laptop is old and I don't know where you are using it - is it on the desk or is it around you in your bed and shit like that - it's probably full of dust and overheats. Check your cpu and gpu temperatures for example.

Another option is that some of the components have gotten loose and they will cause bsod. Or maybe it's bad memory.

Check temperatures first, if they are fine reinstall graphics drivers. Then run some system checks like memtest and shit like that.

But you are probably too stupid to do any of the advice given in my post. Suffer well.

I go to C:\ but my nvidia file is 'nividia corporation' and has nothing in it, unless im looking in the wrong place

Pretend you're playing a game and ignore the fact that your actually typing in a cmd box just to open up program files.

Fucking right? Time to whip out your mom's blow dryer or buy a new one.

Delete System 32

thanks mane

macfag here.
You know, it has been a very long time since I've had a kernel panic. Probably more than 5 years.

>Blue screen of death
TRIGGERED. REEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Pot calling kettledrum
You may be of African heritage if you don't realise that driver corruption has always happened with much greater frequency than hdd or ram issues

here's my trash

4.77MHz !!!!

>without having to write lines of code each time I turn them on.
I can't imagine what you fucked up or where you went for advice to make you think that current Linux distros are like that, but I do feel a bit sorry for you.
Have fun following all these instructions in this thread to try and unfuck your oh-so-reliable windows system from its chronic BSOD problem.

that guy you're talking to isnt me, Im OP

kek thats why you asked for help here you are actually retrded

I'm not OP, cunt nugget

>OS Version 6

Dude, get off Vista. Shit has problems yo. Upgrade to 7 or 10. You can probably buy somebody's legit 7 install disk super cheap off craigslist, but even getting a re-installed version is fine -- it only bugs you to register each time to boot.

Otherwise a BSOD on Vista at this point could be a million things. Viruses/spyware can reach obscure nooks after so many years, your HD might have some wear and the BSOD might be caused by skips (use UBCD to run memtest, etc to diagnose), if you're gaming when it happens it could be graphics card issues, etc. etc.

If it doesn't tuen out to be GFX related, run memory diagnostics , it could be fukd ram

hee hee

Macfag for around 15 years. I've never had to waste time configuring anything. It just fucking works.

Im on 7

arma 3

You probably never worked with computers before.

Oops, sorry then.
He didn't identify himself as "not OP" when he replied to me so I thought it was you.
Please do not hold his idiocy against the reliability and usability of modern Linux distros, he really doesn't know what he's talking about and I don't need to open Terminal to run *any* game much less every program. Also not being able to install Wine properly is kind of like not being able to make toast. You just go to the software manager, search for wine, and click install. After that it's just right-click->open with Wine and the game starts.

Yea I have no bias in operating systems, Ill consider the option if I end up having to make a new pc, cheers

what's your video card?

Just an IT tech in the Valley
And our data on bluescreens show
Less than 1% are hdd related about 5% are ram related

If you call what a mac is capable of *working* than i guess you got a point.

pc fag here, I've saved thousands of dollars over you, and had some beasty machines, not uppriced aluminum shit. You can be a smug chicken livered shitsmear, but you're the one getting cucked by Tim cook

I had a similar issue on my pc last year. I think it was the video card overheating. I turned up the fans and the blue screens stopped.

And ignore EVERYONE who is telling you to check/rename the file that failed in particular on the BSOD warning. The file itself is almost never the direct cause of the failure. Do all the standard diagnostics to be sure -- virus scan, memtest, chkdsk, etc. -- and only if those are clean do you then investigate the file folder:

Since it's nvidia, the graphics driver, first (if you're on a desktop) check that your graphics card is properly seated (sometimes it can pop loose) and the fan areas aren't logged with dust. Next, the simple question is "Were you playing vidya or watching film/flash when the BSOD occured?" If yes, and you did all the diagnostics, you probably just overjuiced the graphics -- use a temperature monitoring app to make sure your computer's not overheating when you game, and make sure your computer is up to specs of the games you run.

If no, then still check the temperatures, but also you can NOW start checking the .sys file itself as others have suggested.

>IT tech in the Valley
That explains why you are so clueless.

If you happen to have a 4gb thumb drive handy, you can just make a bootable installer on the thumbdrive. Unlike a windows install disc, this will boot a full version of Linux from the thumbdrive and you can test it out without making any changes to your hard drive at all.

Since it's also capable of accessing the hard-drive (assuming it's not encrypted) this is also very useful for retrieving files from systems with completely broken windows systems.

Either way, good luck getting your comp straight (seriously this time, though, not sarcastically like last time).

PC tech here too... As a few others have said, it's related to an NVidia driver. Update drivers, check to make sure that the PSU is supplying proper power (this happens sometimes).... It's Nvidia graphics for sure.

Found it:
Just change the number 3 i circled to a 4, and you should be golden.
Thank me later.

I may be clueless
But I can still read a read a data report log
Instead of guesstimate figures pulled from the ether...

sweet glad we've figured out nvidia is killing it
just need to find out the possible fix
I tried this but cannot locate nvlddmkm.sy_ so im stuck there

how teh fook do I do dis?

thanks broham

Did your teacher told you that? Be careful not to step beyond your bounds too much, or you might upset someone, school boy.

Search older and beta nvidia drivers on nvidia website
Force install older driver as admin
Some new driver updates throw bluescreens

>it only bugs you to register each time to boot
Not if you have an activator program

But yes, he's right. Just upgrade to 7. Will run a little more till 2020

Someday you'll be able to come out
from under that bridge.

feel bigger now mate?

im not typng that shit in manually but you copypaste those codes into google and you should find the problem

since its alaptop could really be a lot of things. i vote either bad hdd or ram/

Someone grasping at straws

Still infinitely better than you, even from under my bridge.

update your drivers
blow out dust
check that fans are working
95% chance of fixing your shit

Faggots who actually paid to learn how to repair a computer.

Stay mad, children.

will do this

Love it when pointless answers take place from rational argument... a faint hint of desperation ...

Stay sower man. Saves room for engineers.

Did you're teacher told you that you're grammar not work good?

...

Shouldn't you be studying for a test, or something, school boy?

If you spend all your time off school shitposting will you still learn how to turn a computer on properly? Studying is important, man, you shouldn't waste much of your time here, or your grades will fall. lol

Kek

>TI school boy really thinks he's an engineer

Well haven't you got a nerve?

and I hit it... probably a raw one ...

not sure what file is corrupt because you didn't catch it all in the pick. What you need to do is copy down that file name that ends in ddmkm.sys. Might be graphics driver cuz I think the nv part stands for nvidia. Just get the full name of that .sys file near the bottom and google "yadayda.sys error" and you'll find some forums. If it doesn't fix, you need a new graphics card because it probably over heated or is out dated. might wanna try updating your BIOS download CPU-Z, it'll find your BIOS and download it. Don't lose power while it flashes your bios

Use to happen to me every once in a while got new ram never happened again

Judging by the number of assblasted children, who actually believe a piece of paper will make them computer scientists, angrily muttering because they can't troubleshoot a simple problem, I'd say I'm not the one who's actually mad for wasting money on a useless degree.

Jesus man he's wiped the floor with you, could you make it a little more harder??

Nope... still nothing ... hit me again

Well he's got you bothered enough to reply

This
Installing older driver has proved to be a great way to get around bsods

In the future organic parasites will evolve that feed off the electricity and food scraps in people's laptops.

And then every BSOD will be like an episode of 'House', where we pull out a 10kg reference book of parasites and ask you to list the tropical islands you've visited with your laptop in the past decade, along with sexual partners who may have masturbated to on-screen porn with you.

but which one do i choose?

yes
YES
YESSSSSSSSS

>I'd devote my IT Service for that

You don't have a driver problem, if you are the OP, but feel free to keep taking suggestion from CS majors, and see where that gets you. lol

then wut prooblem iz eit? also i am op

Its a BSOD. Reinstall your OS. Takes 10 minutes and not that hard.. learn to google shit faggot
