Not really an option, dont have another laptop at the moment and closest one that i could get is like 2 hrs drive from here, i live in pretty distanced place from humanity. Also 2,5 inch hdd wont fit into my desktop

you only need to connect the sata cables to the hdd. They are the same on 3.5" and 2.5" drives

not true, in 2003, 2009, and again in 2013, IBM changed the cable widths, by approx. 1/32nd of an inch each time
you need to know the year of manufacture in order to obtain the correct cables

Not true. In around 2005 they changed from 44 pin ide to sata. Since then there has been no change on the connectors. BUT some manufacturers have put removeable adapters to the hdds.
