What's some good French music I want to start learning French again. I took it in high school for 3 years and remember some things but need a refresher. Music would help.

Debussy
Yes but preferably vocal music
I'm trying to use music to learn the language
I think Nino Ferrer is meant to be good
Francois Hardy
Françoise Hardy!
she makes comfy music, her voice is so soothing also is a qt. Best option
I am familiar with her. She's great.
I know a lot of the entry level old stuff like Gainsbourg and her and France Gall but that's really it.
Haven't heard these. Thanks.
This guy is great.
Love this song

Jacques Brel
i would cut off a toe so that I could sniff her
this
great singer, and he comes from france-but-better
If you like rap, nekfeu has great lyrics and cool beats
his flow is very fast but you can always read the lyrics
also it's gonna teach you a more "modern" french than the outdated singers ITT (they're not bad, they're just old)
Lyrics are in English but SOGGY is France's Stooges. Great shit! youtube.com
I'd add to that with 1995, a group of french rappers that I believe used to include Nekfeu, who are all pretty damn good
Yeah I remember in my class our teacher showed us a French rapper but I couldn't remember then name. Was pretty neat. Apparently he was pretty big mainly in early 2000s.
Thanks I definitely needed some more modern recs. I love the 60s-70s artists but I imagine things like slang and such changed overtime.
yeah he was in was in a fuckton of groups
1995, $-crew, l'entourage, and another one I can't remember the name of
they're all good but I prefer him when he's alone
IAM and NTM are good 2000s french rap groups. You should check these out.
Nekfeu was ok but you should not listen to his recent stuff.
Obvious answer
Comme à la Radio (quite vocal)
Histoire de Melody Nelson (cool)
Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg (cute and infectious)
maybe he showed you MC solaar, he's always liked by french teachers
orelsan is also god tier, definitly the voice of the unemployed and hopeless generation
jazzy bazz is worth checking out
Roméo elvis is not as well-known but he's my personnal favourite
youtube.com
all of those rappers cited jacques brel as an influence one time or another
Cyborg was good tho
Yeah MC Solaar was one haha.
Also one other guy
I fuck with the Romeo Elvis track. Smooth beat.
What's his best album?
Yeah I love this album
Have not heard Comme à la Radio
>What's his best album?
he only made two albums, feu and cyborg
they're both good but he went mainstream pretty quick so first hour fans are overhyping what he did before doing albums (just some songs on the internet)
the songs are good but the albums are better
bump
This record is considered a classic in the French rap scene.
