lol so dumb. i love their music, but come on guys/

It's not sun, because there's a double N.
The vowel before a double consonant is shortened and not stressed. This leads to a pronunciation very distinct from Sun.

This is basic stuff, how come you people do not know this?

I pronounce it "Sunflower" because the O))) thing kind of looks like a sunflower plant.
So the name is "sun + [picture of a flower]", i.e. "sun flower."

...

is that a sushi

Similar to garbage but with an O.

Garbaggio

I like it. It's a good disambiguator too.

Inaccurate. Double constants do not always lead to a separate pronunciation - see "but" and "butt".

The specific consonant/vowel combination is at fault here.
There is no such exception with "u" and "nn".

No such exceptions exist because in the English language there are no examples of words that follow that format beyond proper nouns. If you include proper nouns, then there are numerous examples where it retains the same pronunciation.
