It's a manga that's been running for 20+ years now, and it's pretty incredible. One of the things that's most interesting about it, is that the author has basically reinvented himself in his style several times throughout the series, while still keeping it true to its roots. During the first 10 volumes (referred to collectively as the "Golden Age" arc), it's basically gritty 80s style manga of purely dark medieval warfare, becoming borderlined historical fiction. but in volumes 11-12+ literally hell opens up and pours itself onto earth evil dead style but in a completely serious manner. Over the next ~5 volumes you have every bit of bad in his world corrupted and risen to full blown demonic rape-fests; corrupt priests burning everyone at the stake, packs of roving goblins kidnapping women, raping and impregnating them to make more monsters, an evil god-emporer who tries to take over the world etc. It then turns into a traditional swords/sorcery fantasy where Guts assembles a team of rag-tag heroes to destroy the five God Hands of hell, one of whom was his best friend and rival during the Golden Age.

Just work, saints row, and sleep. Nothing out of the normal to report.

How goes the studies and such? Never understood why it was called runescape.

348 when?

...

How is Saints Row? I've heard it brought up over the years but still don't really know what it is.

Studies are decent, need to do more computer programming.

Game revolves around rune(s), and -scape is a suffix pertaining to a worldview/setting.
So it kinda means World of Runes, in a way.

End of Chapter 176 and end of dump for tonight

Saints Row started as a gangster game that swept with the 2003-07 craze. The one I'm playing (4) is just a silly game that's the epitome of when memes became mainstream. A fun open world, if you're looking for a silly game to play.

I get that there are runes and such. I just don't remember why runes were important. I remember killing a bunch of imps and mining for them. I think they strengthened your magic or something. But otherwise, it should be called something else.

So kinda like GTA?

Runes are used for casting spells, which is a huge part of the game, and there's also rune metal/armor/equipment. Name's pretty stuck, and it does fit it pretty well, I'd say.

Best manga of all time

Couple more weeks, just hang on!

Fine taste, user.

Thansk for dumping. Enjoy your evening.

Yes, like gta. But where GTA went off to be the most fun it could be, SR went off to be "lulz teh random"

I had a wizard build and never used runes. When I get internet again you'll have to teach me how to really play. I must have a few dozen sitting in my bank.

My pleasure! Take care on your end, as well.

Lemme know if you decide to hop on, I can show you around the place.

all I'm saying is if Guts had never broken his oath to him, none of the band of the hawk would have been killed and devoured, Casca would have never been raped and killed, Griffith would have never been tortured to the point where he was lured into using the Behelit, becoming the Femto and joining the God Hand. Griffith did nothing wrong, Guts is truly and asshole.

You can't blame Guts for what happened, he did was right for him at that moment. He needed to leave the BotH. Griffith's inability to cope with his only friend leaving him is what ruined everything.
In either event, the laws of causality would have made Griffith use the Behelit anyway.

post lost children arc

Not a lot, the usual shit.

Tomorrow night!
For sure, if I remember.
Which I should.

All's well that's well, as they say.

You guys are trying to justify the slaughter and betrayal of loyal friends.

No matter how you look at it, Griffith is a selfish murdering douchebag. A sociopath willing to destroy for mear control.

ye, for sure

This. Griffith was weaker than everyone including himself thought. The look is shock on his face when he lost the duel to guts he realized he wasn't invincible. Then the demons gave him a way to get that feeling back and he took it. Weak.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a supporter of Griffith nor his actions.
However, what unfolded during the Eclipse was more the will of his subconscious. He was willing to sacrifice them to achieve his goal, and the Eclipse was a means to an end for that. I don't think Griffith wanted to sacrifice them, or would have done so if the Eclipse hadn't just happened.
But, as causality would have it, Griffith was the owner of a Crimson Behelit, and it granted him his wish at the cost of the BotH. A price he would not have wanted to pay.

This goes into samantics then. He was weakened by the loss of his friend.

Should a man be judged for a moment of weakness?

I think it's valid to include his moment of weakness in his judgement.
Griffith was in an absolutely abysmal state when the Eclipse happened, he was very broken and driven to extremes.
However, we saw that was kept him going was his dream, the same one he's had forever.
I think it was a combination of his torture, his dream, and the Crimson Behelit that made the sacrifice happen.
Behelits don't just go to anybody, and Crimson ones even less.
I think it shows that Griffith had a strong enough dream that he could sacrifice people for, even if it was something he didn't think he could do.
I usually don't see Griffith as being evil, more that he has an unshakable dream, with motivations and determination that surprises himself, even.
