Oops wrong pic. Ive only heard alien soundtracks but i liked it. Is their other stuff good?

Reading comprehension not your strong suit eh?

SHADOWS OF A THOUSAND YEARS

pictured and Red Exposure are gold
The Visitation is full of Rush/Zeppelin-type stuff, but it has like 3 great tracks
They lost me when they added a metronomic 80s rhythm section for their fifth record, though Firebomb, Armageddon and Heart Beat off their sixth album are good tracks, which are however not on the level of the first few albums

but they are eminently quotable, the lyrics are really wacky and nihilistic

>take it to the chip shop/take it to the park/wanna make a million?/and it's an armageddon
>I hear all the paranoid discussions/trying to distract me from my function/but I don't care what they say/I'm not afraid of the Russians

These guys made some truly unique stuff. Slip It To The Android is some out there shit.

First time I heard TV As Eyes I thought of The Stooges. Only recently did I make the connection to TV Eye.

Totally disagree.

Not much into their early stuff until Half Machine Lip Moves. Red Exposure, No Humans Allowed, Blood on the Moon, 3rd From The Sun and The Chronicles I & II are the good stuff for me. Never understood the love for Alien Soundtracks and The Visitation. Amateurish at best.

Helios Creed's solo stuff is usually pretty good.

>Never understood the love for Alien Soundtracks and The Visitation. Amateurish at best.

But them breakbeats, tape manipulations and samples were the heart of Chrome, bro. It all got thrown out the door with Blood on the Moon, which is sorta clumsy HC punk

In your opinion.

Chrome to me is a throbbing pulsing rhythm section with Creed grinding his guitar over the top. All about sonic intensity.

You can keep your wannabe Krautrock.

And remember Helios Creed didn't join the band until late in the Alien Soundtrack sessions.

Red Exposure falls off somewhat because of its more regular rhytms, but it endures on the strength of its innovations, like the voice distortion in New Age, the industrial dub of Isolation, Helios' guitar work on Animal, and Damon's brave attempt to sounds like Sparks on Electric Chair. But succeeding albums just sounded monotonous. It's like they figured 'we've got these pro hacks for a rhythm section, so let's sound like a rock band for a change'. I think Helios did a lot on Third From The Sun in the way of envisioning the sound of punk/metal of the RHCP and RATM kind which didn't come along until later, but it was Damon who completely lost his touch with the advent of the 80s, and Damon was the real frontman of Chrome. I think it was cause he, a drummer and 70s porn soundscaper, collided with the popular new wave and synthpop drumming styles, and the opposition took the life out of him. The Visitation may have sucked, but Return to Zanzibar and Memory Chords off that album are what I think Damon was all about as a drummer and as a keyboardist, and that just went out of fashion. All his 80s and 90s solo stuff sounds pretty much the same, and tho he had a clever lyric idea now and then (in his own dumb way), his creativity never really came back again. Helios is a great psych guitarist, all those shit 80s albums aside, but the stuff he plays with his band to please the fans these days was pretty much all written by Damon.

Well, you certainly have my interest when you put it like that.

Shit man, thanks.

WEVE BEEN TURNNNNNNED AROUND

>all those shit 80s albums aside
X Rated Fairy Tales and Superior Catholic Finger are fucking great.

And I saw Helios Creed back in '08. Half of his setlist was his solo stuff. So no, not all of it was written by Edge. Good show too.

I will agree with you on Edge's version of Chrome. Although I did sorta' like Another World.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree

I'll have to give those albums another listen cause this song is prime Creed.

Also, posting Pygmees in Zee Park, cause the intro to that one is probably the scariest and chromeiest thing they ever did:

I'll go with this track:
Wings Born in the Night

From The Chronicles I

IN A MOMENT PAT STEVENS WHO HATES BUTTERMILK IS GOING TO

Second best US post-punk band after Pere Ubu

Slip it to the Android is their best song, also Nova Feedback

Chrome is fucking awesome.

I can't think of many other groups that really come close to their sound.
