Whatever you do, don't listen to the that one pleb that comes into these threads and suggests their early work, it's even worse.

>not liking 80s chili peppers

I only see one pleb here

their 80s stuff is good tho

Oh I guess there's two of them then.
To clarify, I'm not talking about Mother's Milk, I mean those godawful funk rap albums.

>mother's milk
>not funk rap

Holy shit dude nobody's gonna care about your taste if your ears are fucking broken

Freaky Styley is easily their best album. Not crazy about the other 2 pre frusciante albums. But that one is fantastic.

it turns out you're that one pleb that comes into these threads

Blood Sugar Sex Magik >>>>>

>BSSM
>FS
>OHM
>BTW
>MM
>UMPP
>RHCP
>Californication

Fuck the rest of the albums tbfh

It has noticeably less of that than the previous albums. I mean sure, BSSM has some funk rap too, but Mother's Milk is when they started to move away from that sound.

Stadium Arcadium is dope af too

>Fuck the rest of the albums tbfh

The Getaway was pretty good IMO. SA and I'm With You both had a hand full of good songs. Also how can you rank BTW so high but then put the fucking debut and UMPP above Californication?

You're the fucking pleb you faggot.

Eh I disagree. MM had some better songwriting/melody with Frusciante joining. But he was doing his best to fill Hillel's shoes and the majority of that album is still a fusion of Funk and Punk like their early stuff. Maybe Knock Me Down was a step in a new direction. But the big shift in style didn't come until BSSM.

the only good song they put out is Soul to Squeeze and it's a non-album single

nah

Not that user but didnt much care for the getaway desu. Enjoyed it at first but now i find it to be pretty lackluster. However, i think IWY is one of their most underrated albums. Police Station is one of the best song they've ever done

Are you so insecure about your taste that you have to knock me down like that?

I only like by the way.
Everything else is a fucking chore to listen too

Frusicate's solo discog is way better than RHCP's discog, just saying

>Knock Me Down

They have one good song, the Sly cover on Freaky Styley.

It's funny how we all know their discog cause we all listened to them.

youtube.com/watch?v=j1zec-toMac

they turned up when it mattered. also Mothers Milk is a great album

love me some heroin infused Frusciante

This is objective fact

Fav froosh album?

Anything newer than One Hot Minute blows

think he was only dabbling in it at this point all of 1992 RHCP is John trying his hardest to get kicked out of the band

I was sure it was confirmed he was high while doing this performance, either way yeah he was doing that on purpose (sounds dope though)

>how can you rank BTW so high but then put the fucking debut and UMPP above Californication?

Californication is boring as shit. There's nothing on that album that wasn't done better on either BSSM or BTW. The Funk Rock songs sound tired and dull and the ballads/softer songs are too commercial and corny sounding. It's not all bad but BTW is miles ahead of it. There's nothing like Warm Tape, Midnight or Venice Queen on Californication. Also the production is objectively dog shit

yeah the mastering on Cali is the worst ever, literally

still a 7/10 album though

Blood Sugar Sex Magik, on the whole, is a great album. I have no complaints except that I've heard the singles way too many times, and that's not the fault of the album. A lot of songs on there were unjustly forgotten.

It's also bittersweet to listen to because it shows you what the band could have been if it wasn't taken over by Kiedis. The other band members actually have presence. Take "The Righteous & the Wicked" for example, which is like their only song where you can hear Frusciante singing, and "Naked in the Rain," where Chad's drums sound awesome.

By the Way is one of those albums that's nobody's masterpiece but when it comes down to it has a number of decent songs. I'll always be fond of it.

Under the Bridge.

>By the Way is one of those albums that's nobody's masterpiece

It could be. It's just bloated with shit like Zephyr Song and Cabron.

Wtf is wrong with Cabron? It's a little corny but it's catchy as hell and nothing else on the album sounds like it. I agree with Zephyr Song though. I've never cared for Don't Forget Me either. Such a dull chord progression.

The beginning of this song reminds me of Thela Hun Ginjeet

I love a lot of the RHCP back catalog. I first got into them from the song "Me and My Friends" in the 80s. Whether or not it was their "sellout record", I loved Mother's Milk. I love Frusciante most and Californication and By the Way were staggeringly consistent.

With that said, when one of your members joins fucking Chickenfoot and you follow that misstep with "I'm With You", I feel embarrassed for them. The emotion I feel when I think of their current state and the Chickenfoot fiasco, it's the equivalent of seeing your high school crush 10 years later and now she's a 300 pound landwhale.

How is Chickenfoot a fiasco?

How are old supergroups not a fiasco? Sammy Hagar is like 70 and makes bar rock. I guess it's nice and all that a senior citizen can still live the party life and I do happen to enjoy Cabo Wabo tequila, but assembling a bunch of has-been dadrockers in a supergroup and playing a bar/casino in Nevada on the same night that Van Halen are playing a stadium in Tokyo doesn't say much.

You have to remember that back in the day, RHCP were alternative punk rockers who represented the sleazy underbelly of Hollywood. There's nothing edgy or alternative about Chickenfoot.

He's not trying to be Van Halen. It was four of his buddies who enjoyed playing together and decided to release some music together. They'd performed many times before they actually officially formed as a band. Just guys doing some straightforward rock music and having fun. I can assure you none of them consider it a "fiasco" and if Chad didn't have a day job they'd have continued doing more music. Their first album even went gold which for a brand new band of old guys is pretty impressive and equals what Van Halen was able to do with their last album.

It's pretty cheap bullshit that Josh Klinghoffer got into the HoF with the other guys when he'd done jack-all to earn it except play on an album nobody cared about and which failed to generate any notable singles.

I think the singles on I'm With You were chosen really poorly, especially The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie.

Yeah I don't think it's fair to beat up on Chickenfoot. Just a bunch of old guys still rocking out and having a good time, so good for them.

Sexy Mexican Maid is their best tune desu

I find it too bad that RHCP's live setlists are so predictable and they rarely ever play B-sides or deep cuts.

RHCP were my favorite band on the planet in the 9th grade. I wore out my cassette copy of BSSM back in the day, but by the time OHM came out, I'd moved on to other music.

I revisited their debut album and couldn't enjoy it. Anthony's over the top rapping and the dated production kill it, also the songs have no structure and just meander aimlessly. Flea's bass is great though, and the one redeeming factor of the album.

Personally, I think The Uplift Mofo Party Plan is the best Chilies album if you really want a sense of what these guys are all about, especially since it's the only album that all four of the original members (Anthony, Flea, Hillel, and Irons) play on. There's a magic to it that's unique in their discography.

>scar tissue
>good

Stadium Arcadium and Californication are good places to start.

Listen to Mother's Milk, it's their best

but these ARE their most radio rock oriented albums
