So now that the dust has settled

So now that the dust has settled
can we agree Meeting of the Waters is the best AnCo release since Fall Be Kind?

It's like a better sequel to Campfire Songs
I love it

thanks!

yes
>tfw man of oil

When are they finally gonna kick Panda out?

never

I love The Painters too, but yeah probably. These past two releases plus what I hear about Coral Orgy make me optimistic about the band's future, not to mention how elder god-tier Sleep Cycle was

alpacafurrug.tumblr.com/

Based Deakin does it again

It's good but why does this shit have to be so short? I wish they fleshed this out to a full length album instead of an EP. We're gonna have to wait another 3 years until they release a real album.

Needs more hocketing

He can never truly leave but if anything this release tells us that it might be time for him to sit one out

>kick out the best member
why?
Person Pitch is arguably better than anything they've ever released as a band

It blows PW out of the water. It's not as good as Sleep Cycle but it's a massive step in the right direction.

His creative juices have run dry. He needs a break.

This is an LP?

>Person Pitch
How is something from 10 years ago relevant to today?

He saves his good songs for solo albums and writes shit like Natural Selection for AnCo

nearly everything good from MPP was by him
it's relevant because AnCo as a band also hasn't put out anything good since MPP which was 10 years ago. Avey's post MPP solo material and Slasher Flicks is pretty lackluster as well

Person Pitch is a masterpiece, but Panda has been creatively bankrupt ever since. It's like he saved every good song he ever wanted to write for that album and will never come close. Avey on the other hand is a songwriting factory who will be making beautiful art until the day he dies. He is the chosen one.

Avey sucks ass and is a wifebeater. He should go back to mumble screaming nonsense into a mic while strumming guitar.

Name one person better at mumble screaming nonsense into a mic while strumming guitar.

tomboy was close though, If PP is a 10/10, tomboy is a 9. I agree that his creative output has felt... forced? ever since

THIS DOG GOT BIT ON THE LE_E__E_EEEE

>2009 was 10 years ago

Also the majority of MPP was still Avey's songs. Stop being delusional.

S/T > YP ≥ PP > Tb > PBVSGR

I think PBMTGR has some pretty good songwriting, but the noisy aesthetic it goes for is a bit offputting and uninteresting.

>but the noisy aesthetic it goes for is a bit offputting and uninteresting.
That's why it's so good tho

avey feels peaceful again, it makes me happy

is the digital download card not working for anyone else?

>panda made person pitch, one of the greatest albums of all time
>avey grows dollar sign eyes
>spends two years grooming panda into becoming a sample based synth-pop machine
>turns to geo, tells him to make noises or som shit idk
>together they make patrician yet commercial masterpiece, Merriweather Post Pavillion
>Avey keeps panda in a cage
>panda is only allowed to listen to old records
>only allowed to make synthpop
>panda loses all feelings, all emotions, all happiness
>panda only knows synthpop
>deak returns from saving icelandic oprhans from monsters
>deak sees what avey has done to panda
>deak keeps it based and convinces avey to release panda
>panda is too far gone
>all he sees is the MPP cover
>all he hears are flowers
>all he does is lay in bed for a sec more
>deak takes the band to his farm, a retreat to help panda
>forces them to make a new album
>based deak makes a masterpiece, but panda hasn't recovered
>panda throws the burrito in the windshield
>deak refuses to allow avey's mistake to overshadow his own godly figure
>deak opens a kickstarter, uses the funds to escape to the himalayas and smoke hookah with yetis
>meanwhile panda indoctrinates his former master
>now avey only knows how to make sample based synthpop
>geo just goes along with it because what the fuck else is he going to do
>avey and panda listen to the radio competitively for 2 years, painting with coalesces into existence
>just before release, deak, seemingly dead and forgotten forever in the Himalayan mountains comes back
>he returns with Sleep Cycle
>based deak releases 2016 AOTY before Painting With comes out
>avey btfo'd so hard by Sleep Cycle it awakens his inner self
>avey lets out an internalized scream, runs into the wilderness of Brazil with geo
>avey and geo record Meeting of the Waters
>best AnCo project in 8 years
>avey and deakin ascend into celestial glory
>drag geo with them
>together they will make the greatest album ever made
the story of how based deak saved the world

Most of Avey's songs on CHZ and PW were shit as well and Slasher Flicks was abysmal.

alpacafurrug.tumblr.com/

this.

can we stop sucking Avey's dick
the only band member who has been consistently good is Deakin

:(
B-but what about panda?

>AnCo as a band also hasn't put out anything good since MPP
I'm gonna stop you right there. Oddsac, TTG, more than a few songs on CHz and PW, Mountain Game, and both of the EPs released this year have been good to great. Every band has a couple dubious cuts in their catalogue, but that doesn't mean Anco is finished or out of good ideas.

>panda throws the burrito in the windshield
Fucking kek

he meets the grim reaper

this is soo good it reminds me of campfire songs but also kind of water curses

this was gay

AnCo ran out of ideas after Indian. Animal Crack Box has been the lone exception thus far. I can tell you started listening to AnCo during SJ era at the earliest, i.e. not a true fan.

He'll snap out of it, make a solo album that makes 8.9 BNM on pitchfork, they all make up, become roommates in a remote cabin and for the rest of their lives make music that ranges from decent to amazing

I can tell you started listening to Animal Collective during PW era at the earliest, i.e. you still use "AnCo" lmao

That's true, but there hasn't been a full length album since MPP that you hear and immediately think "wow, this is a classic". It seems like for ever good song off of CHz or PW you get another two filler songs that weren't fleshed out to their full potential.

>geo just goes along with it because what the fuck else is he going to do

>abbreviating a band name means you're new

> I can tell you started listening to AnCo during SJ era at the earliest, i.e. not a true fan.
I hope you realize how fucking stupid you are for saying this. Probably bait but still.

the best member is by far and away Avey, you can't argue this.

the best songs on MPP are lion in a coma, in the flowers, and summertime clothes, all avey

>Sung Tongs, Feels, SJ, & MPP aren't all classic albums
>Liking the last 15 years of a band's catalogue means you're new
thanks, real fan, this is good to know

Why is Deakin a fucking creeper?

I got my hands on it today, it really reminds me of campfire songs. I agree, I think it's the best thing since fall be kind, definitely worth checking out

can't tell if this is bait

How?

>the dust has settled
>came out today

this guy knows what's up

Yeah, the EP is pretty fucking good

don't forget Avey's new solo performances. they sound pretty dancey but still fucking amazing desu, they definitely still have their spark.

hey friends I haven't heard much anco but what little I've heard I've liked

is there a flowchart?

this one is good but outdated, doesn't include Centipede Hz and above

how can someone have taste this bad

Lush pop:
Feels -> Person Pitch -> MPP -> Fall Be Kind

Acoustic:
Sung Tongs -> Campfire Songs

Noisy pop:
STV -> HCTI -> Jam -> CHz

that's because he's barely done anything.

>doesn't include Centipede Hz and above
>includes chz
oddly enough that was my first anco album, then I checked out mpp. sleep cycle was one of my favorite releases last year too

thanks for this, friendo

This flowchart is newer than but it doesn't include the two most recent EPs

it's not hard to be consistent when you spend 7 years perfecting 30 minutes of material
lol

put meeting of the waters after Sung Tongs and say "more folky, more atmospheric" between the two, make The Painters branch off from Painting With and put "more abstract, looser songs" between them

made my day, user

>I like the alternating call & response vocal style
Nobody would ever say this about Painting With

FUCK ALL THIS BICKERING IN HERE

IS IT GOOD THOUGH!?!?!
?!
?!
?!
?

they would about Peacemaker off The Painters

yeah it's real good

Its very, very incredible, if Merriweather didnt come out it would be their best since SJ, maybe even Feels...

What an unaesthetic mess holy shit

just like Animal Collective

t. pleb

I think it's a travesty to suggest down there after centipede

yeah, Slasher Flicks would be better where Down There is desu

>album opens with Visiting Friends part 2
Not a very good start.

its an ep

The Painting With vocal style is called hocketing

>implying Visiting Friends is anything but one of the best songs in their discography
>being so deaf that you think Blue Noses is anything like it
user please

quality > quantity
something both Avey and Panda could learn from

Deak only had 3 good songs out of the 6 on Sleep Cycle though, so that didn't even work out for him

more like doggy part 2

choke on my deak m8

>13 minute long acoustic guitar-driven drone song
>13 minute long acoustic guitar-driven drone song

>Just Am
>good
the other two mediocre songs are just ambient interludes, too
but Blue Noses isn't droney at all, just a bit repetitive. would be a better comparison, though it's still not very good. it's much more like Sleeper Factory than anything else.

Fuck off dude, Sleep Cycle is a 9/10 from start to finish. If you're looking at the album as individual songs then you're already doing it wrong. Stick to AnCo if you want hot pop tracks to throw on some shitty playlist.

imagine campfire songs + sung tongs + sleep cycle and there you have it

i swear, this record would not have been made if sleep cycle didn't exist

it was recorded in early 2016 though, so Sleep Cycle had nothing to do with it
>Stick to AnCo if you want hot pop tracks to throw on some shitty playlist.
wew lad. alright, I'll go back to listening to a band that's done tons of stuff that's also best taken as a whole, but is apparently now just has "hot pop tracks to throw on some shitty playlist."

I don't think it's accurate to say it had nothing to do with it. Geo and Avey had almost definitely received copies of Deakin's tracks before going to Brazil. I'll admit that the timeline does not allow for them to have known about the reception of Sleep Cycle, but still.

Deakin has been making the album since 2011.

yeah, but it wasn't finished until 2016.
also, if MotW was a reaction to Sleep Cycle, why weren't any of the projects from the previous five years influenced by it? I feel like it's a huge stretch to say that they did it in response to SC rather than just doing it because they wanted to.

Centipede Hz is honestly a 9/10
