Is Humanz The Biggest Let Down Of The Year So Far?

Is Humanz the biggest let down so far during the year or did you as a Gorrilaz fan (or not) always know it was going to be a sub par let down?

No but your 2017 goals are

No it was good.

It's not a let down if you don't listen it

Yeah I would agree with that. Especially if you compare to Plastic Beach. What a fucking drop. Even The Fall was way better.

But user, every Gorillaz release is childish garbage

I never been on reddit so I don't know what the fuck you're talkin about. It was a good album in my opinion.

>Animation
>Means Garbage

Since when?

Were getting a new cartoon series out of it so I'm happy. I just want more Noodle to make my noodle happy.

NEW SINGLE

tell me why Humanz is bad so far

>inb4 Too many guests

may I remind you of Plastic Beach, wich was 99% guests?

Is there more to the concept than "lol trump"

quality wise it's a huge drop off so far

Album quality dropped to listenable pop (as opposed to autistic pop that teens listen). I mean "listenable pop" is actually good, but you grow out of it.
This wasn't the case with other albums. Other albums were all very memorable songs. So far, the songs in Humanz (haven't listened to leaks) will be easily forgettable in my opinion. Even the fuck lyrics are forgettable because they address Trump directly instead of trying to be timeless.

Overall Humanz is good (except the shit songs like Ascension and We Got The Power) but not as good as any of the albums so far.

Time will tell I suppose. Maybe the rest of the songs will be very good? But the overall theme of the album seems to be very modern (therefore pop-like) which is a shame.

Busted And Blue was the only good song

What if Damon purposely made The Fall shitty, so that people would say to future Gorillaz albums; "well, it's at least better than The Fall"

really boggles the ol' noggin

We got the Power is good, Ascension is ok. The Apprentice is dull shit though and is the first song that actually hurts the album for me.

The Fall is great and you are an anus.

How emotionally fragile do you have to be to judge an entire album from one Pusha T verse?

>let down of the year
>not released until friday

>The Apprentice is a bonus track

>The Fall was made when Damon goofed around on his iPad while taking poops in hotel rooms
>The Fall is an iPad album
>iPad album
>

>may I remind you of Plastic Beach, wich was 99% guests?
Yeah but Damon actually on those tracks.

Vince Staples literally says "a nigga killed a white man" on the very first song

Whats wrong with it?

Plastic Beach is garbage tho
That's when Gorillaz truly fell off.

Damon's hopping on the

>lol fuck Trump
>ayo fuck whitey
>#blacklivesmatter

trends to get literal niggers to buy his music. Joke is on him, it won't work

Honestly, this looked like those shitty pop/hip hop albums where it's all collabs, maybe i would like it more if Damon singed, but it turned out ridiculous, he's just hiring other people to sing for him.

That's why Andromeda and Busted and Blue are the only good tracks, the rest are all shit, specially THE SKY IS FALLIN BABY DROP DAT ASS and ALL MOI LOIFE

Nothing wrong with saying no to facism.

All good things in this world have been made by proggresives.

No, it's pointing out industrialized racism. I really hope you're joking you are in the same comment saying racism doesn't affect blacks and saying "literal niggers."

What's wrong with fascism?

>Especially if you compare to Plastic Beach.
nice nostalgia glasses, user

This
Plastic Beach is worse than Humanz

>Plastic Beach (the song)
>Stylo
>Empire Ants
>Rhinestone Eyes
>Broken

try harder next time

>iPad album

Don't care how he made it I care that it's an awesome album.

agreed
DD>Gorillaz>Humanz>Plastic Beach>The Fall

No wonder you're shitposting right now if you don't like Plastic Beach

Everything except Stylo is garage.
Plastic Beach tho? Seriously? That has to be one of the worst Snoop features ever.
Just admit both albums are shittier already.

Its actually a good album

Nope, not all. Have you even listened to IT user?

He didn't hop onto it. The album was conceptualised before Trump even became a thing you dumb retard.

it's a Gorillaz album, what were you expecting?

Pusha T literally name drops Trump in Let Me Out, you jerk-wad.

HM mentions building walls

Damon himself told the artists to imagine if Trump won while recording the album

Example of good collaboration: (where Damon ACTUALLY sings)

Example of ABSOLUTE SHIT collaboration:

youtube.com/watch?v=hBA0PUQCvIA

To all people hating Plastic Beach, fuck off, it was perfect, just like Demon Days, The Fall was a little slower and different but not bad at all;

Humanz is maybe the biggest dissapointment of decade, Busted and Blue and Andromeda are the only good tracks in that pile of shit.

The number of guests would not be an issue if Damon actually sang with them. instead we got THE SKY IS FALLIN BABY DROP DAT ASS FORE IT CRASH

There've been good Gorillaz songs without too much Damon. The problem is the features themselves are generic and mediocre and the backing has terrible, repetitive, uninteresting melodies.

>Example of good collaboration
>*link to song I like*
>Example of bad collaboration
>*link to song I dislike*
also, literally half of the songs in Plastic Beach didn't feature Damon at all

>To all people hating Plastic Beach, fuck off, it was perfect
You're fucking delusional

>mfw we could have Gorillaz feat. David Bowie collab of the century if he hadn't died

I don't get where all this shit is coming from about Damon jumping on the "pro BLM train" - other then pure ignorance of his career outside of Gorillaz. He's been involved in "black" music genres for the last two decades, in multiple countries and continents. His Mali connection is huge and produced a lot of good music. Maybe you paranoid fedoras should actually look up the topic of your ridiculous ire; instead of pretending like rap and hip-hop influences are new to his work. Instead of a bedrock of a lot of it since the late 90s...

no, the singles were trash so there wasnt that much hype for the album anyway

There aren't that many posts like that here, most talk about Trump if the politics at all.

most normies are liking the singles

says the guy who drops "nigger" into every discussion about blacks.

you're almost as bad as Sup Forums when it comes to SJW's

>game has a black character
>"LMAO NIGGERS"
>why do people think the industry has a problem?

if you fucking retards would keep to yourselves we wouldn't be in this shitstorm right now.

>a british musician is liberal and talks about foreign politics like it's his home country
wow what a shocker

Demon Days was a boring singles album.

5 of the 7 tracks that have been pre-released from this are great. That's about 2 more than the number of great tracks on DD.

t. police-state lover

>tfw David Bowie was willing to work with Gorillaz, but Morrissey turned them down

More proof that Morrissey is indeed a cunt.

Is that suppose to be an insult?

Yeah it's what rap is mostly about right now and he has always featured rappers.

...

fucking this
/thread

Lou's work with them was severely underrated.

Agreed! I love 'Some Kind of Nature'; even if I have no idea what Lou's verses mean...

he's the table

I don't think Lou Reed knew what half of anything he sang meant

> ALL MY LOIFE
This is the worst fucking song I have ever heard

You new to the internet, mate?

They don't even feel like the same band lol
Didn't listen imo

listen to more music

shit sounds sooooooo good tho

best use of autotune i've heard since the last Bon Iver album.

>Lou Meme collaborated with Gorillaz

wtf, I am gonna listen to Plastic Beach now

Why does this band so adamant on making all their music about black culture in the whitest way possible?

you should, it's a great album, not even memeing

As a long time Gorillaz fan I felt this was some weak ass production and doesn't have the soul or actual collaboration that was involved in prior releases.

Damon, while always involving other people, has to put his own voice and musical talent into it. I'm really not feeling it on this one.

I feel like he got too many other people doing the work for him and got too turned on to this pop rap I really can't stand.
Usually his voice, keys, and a cool producer with some great guests made a spectacular album.

Here, a bunch of rappers I haven't heard of who I haven't been impressed with use a boring theme of lyrics over bland beats.

This is a far cry from the Bootie Brown, Roots Manuva, Bashy/Kano, Mos Def, Del Tha Funky Homosapien, MF Doom shit that was unforgettable with other more soulful singers (Bobby Womack, Martina Topley-Bird, Yukimi Nagano, Ibrahim Ferrer) giving a depth of emotion.

This is bottom of the list for me, I'll give it some more listens but soon I imagine this will be deep storage and not in my playlists.

Bullshit, Plastic Beach had more tracks that didn't have Damon at all

If you remove tracks with no vocals (Orchestral Intro, Interludes, etc.):

>Plastic Beach
Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach
White Flag
Superfast Jellyfish
Glitter Freeze
Sweepstakes
Cloud of Unknowing

>Humanz
Strobelite
Submission
Carnival

Finally, someone speaking the truth, 100% agreed.

hes just saying the same shit people have been saying for the past few weeks here.

yes you fuckin nutcase

that's literally their entire fucking gimmick.

I think people are finding that even the tracks that he is on, his contribution and presence is much reduced.

You can argue things like you're arguing, but don't you think maybe there is a reason so many people are saying there are too many features and not enough Damon?

The same people saying that shit are the people who claim that Plastic Beach was so much better in that regard, when back in 2010 people complained about Plastic Beach for the exact same reason

People magically forgot all the negative reviews that PB got for collab overload, so they could put it on a pedestal and claim that it's so much better than Humanz

Nostalgia goggles

I mean, I don't like Plastic Beach or Humanz that much, and I would argue that each is worse than the other in that regard, so it makes sense people would still say it in comparison.

All of the Gorillaz shit people have been saying here for the past few weeks are related to:

>damn niggers on muh gorillaz
>muh damon jumped on the trump bandwagon

Strobelite is amazing

Why the fuck is Tom Waits on that picture?

I'll always agree that some of the collabs were weak on Plastic Beach. But after giving it some years I've found most of the tracks still give me a good time. At first listening to PB I thought shit was terrible but with a band that takes so many left turns I try not to trust my first impression.

But Humanz is kinda hard to swallow. My only hope is that some of the non-album media (tv show) make it worthwhile.
PB only suffered because it was shot in the crib before it could have a lot of cool music videos and other shit.

Pretty much.

that's because only white people listen to Gorillaz

yes I am white myself.

trump is the worst president in 100 years
vince staples loves white people ask anyone
do you not think black lives matter?

Is it true that the easiest way to get Sup Forums to dismiss an album as trash is to have black people who say curse words on it?

im actually kinda pissed because the rappers on the record that he picked actually have decent solo stuff (danny brown, de la soul, vince staples) but they brought some of their worst for the record.

Yes, it worked for Kanye and Kenrick Lamara and everyone else

Every song minus We Got The Power has been decent so far. I wouldn't call it a flop, it's about as good as Demon Days.

It was alright. Lowest I'd give it is 6/10. Cohesively, it sucks by comparison to the past two Gorillaz albums, but it has a lot of great individual tracks.

False statement. Black people listen to Gorillaz too.
Can't tell if serious, or bait. But I'll admit I agree with everything you said either way.

>hating on trump is a bandwagon hivemind

ok son

Apparently. Of course, hating on Hillary wasn't a band wagon that Trump supporters hopped on.
Trump can do no wrong!

>it's a Sup Forums acts like Gorillaz hasn't been political since day one episode

Hillary lost. Get over it snowflake libtard safe space

the album is pretty ok

>bashing the president
>"hopping on the trend"
Oh to be young again

Name this semen demon please

sauce on girl? I'm in the mood for a new porno
