to be fair, it's a pretty difficult book to film. a lot of the time the characters are quietly thinking to themselves "i am going to fuck this person up so badly.. just you wait.." and the only way to do that cinematically is to have them voice-over with a bit of echo while obviously not moving their lips.

I have the original on VHS.
The package says Copyright 1989, so maybe you can look for that.
I do kind've like it, cos the voice-over gives it a gumshoe kind of feel to it. And the whole "is he a Replicate" is a lot more subtle.
But the Director's Cut is better.

honestly, the EU for dune is pretty shit imo. i felt that the movie captured the feel of the original book pretty well, and i enjoyed it as a result.

Oldfag here. David Lynch has said repeatedly that he hated Dune, but I thought he did a good job with the material. It was a hard book to film.
I also liked Blade Runner, do any of you younger guys think it holds up? It was pretty ahead of its time.
