What would you say to someone who is about to watch all of Star Trek for the first time?

What would you say to someone who is about to watch all of Star Trek for the first time?

I would tell you to stop making this thread again and again. Once was enough.

Hi

I envy you, it's a magical experience. I remember watching TOS with my dad, great memories.

Start with the original series, it's the gold standard

"Commander, tell me about your sexual organs."

once I watch TOS and their related movies, is it okay to stop? The thought of watching all the series intimidates me

This. I still occasionally visit the old man and we watch TOS and a bunch of older shows together. I am in my 30's so I grew up with new episodes of TNG... so that will always be my favorite Trek. I could never get into DS9 or Voyager at all.

I legit wanted to be Q as a kid.

but user, TNG is the best one.

>a delusional godlike autist
You could be a Sup Forums mod

trust me, you will want more. Just go for TOS and the movies for now, the rest will come

Reminder that this bitch being a prude is the reason Obongo is president.

You should try DS9 again, it's worth it fellow user.

I will try but I can't get past the first season without wanting to cut myself.

I don't want to fly too close to the sun

Or maybe her ex-husband shouldn't have acted like a filthy, deviant degenerate.

You're the party of "personal responsibility", so try acting responsible fo once.

If you can you get past season 1 of TNG you can handle DS9. They both get awesome in season 3

Having kinky sex with your wife is as wholesome and American as apple pie.

Try DS9 again, and when you feel like giving up, just skip to the last two episodes of season one, "Duet" and "In the Hands of the Prophets". They're pretty good and they should reinvigorate your spirit.

Will do.

He wanted to watch her have sex with other people. There's a word for that, and I'm certain that you use it daily.

>There's a word for that, and I'm certain that you use it daily.
A loving, honest, and committed marriage with good communication?

Watch first 2 seasons of TOS wrath of khan is the best of star trek skip first 2 seasons of TNG your good to go

Watch in this order:
TNG
DS9
ENT
TOS
VOY

All star trek takes until season 3 to take off.

What a stupid order.

>All star trek takes until season 3 to take off.
Tell me more about why you think TOS season 3 is the best season of TOS. I'm genuinely curious to learn about how you formed such stupid opinions.

I hated DS9 back in the day. I watched all of it a few months ago.

Holy hell it was good. After the first two shitty seasons it got so goddamn good. It hits on themes that no other Star Trek has ever dealt with. War and religion vs science are central themes. It also has some pretty prophetic stuff to say about iraq/afghanistan even though when the show was made I think it was really modeling on isreal/vietnam/etc.

>cherry picking

all of TOS sucks desu senpai. The good movies are the only thing you need to watch that TOS related.

>all of TOS sucks desu senpai.

It's not very good

...

skip voyager, it's fucking garbage

Okay, here goes..
So basically I have a penis and a scrotum holding two ovular balls called testes.
Now these testes connect to what's known as the prostate gland through a duct called the vas deferens.
Stay with me, okay? Now here, in the prostate, a fluid is secreted and expelled with a fertilizer, so to speak, called sperm.
They combine to form a mixture excretion called semen.
When in a state of sexual arousal, the penis, that long but limp shaft you see here, hardens via a balloon effect that increases the flow of blood within it.
As the intercourse of my species reaches it's "critical state", the prostate expels the semen through a duct that leads to the urethral opening, or the end of my penis, and expels it out into our female's vagina.
I could show you how this actualized if you are interested.

Don't go out of order with any series. TNG GOAT

Watch lexx instead.

>Ship: Voyager; it's fucking rampage!*

Little fixer upper you gave me.

I'd fuck Janeway desu

you'll miss some good shit in the first two seasons of TNG
3 Q episodes, the one where Data Riker and Worf go inside the casino, Measure of a Man, there's some wild stuff going on.

Long time TNG & TOS fan here. I hated those few DS9 episodes I saw back in the day. But I'm about to go back and give it all a second look.

Better be good m8s. I'm about to spend some hard-earned man hours on DS9.

Lexx faggot pls go and stay go
You're unwanted in the Trek threads just as much as in the Farscape threads

DS9 Season 4 Episode 2 "The Visitor"

This episode was amazing, probably my favorite in all of the Star Trek series.

DS9 season 4 is arguably the best season of star trek

>mfw thinking some smuck somewhere in the galaxy used this as a type of pick-up line or foreplay to break the ice

literally cannot get any funnier in my head

>Tony "Jakurn" Todd
>Marc Ayylaimo
>Jeff "Based Shran" combs
Ds9 truly had the best recurring guest stars

>You're unwanted in the Trek threads
Because he proves that there is no reason to ever watch Star Trek short of nostalgia?

ds9 gets real fucking dark the later it goes.

>a fucking PTSD episode in Star Trek

goddamnit I did not ask for this

it's still great television, though, and arguably the best written Trek

bump

Don't listen to this guy. Voyager is comfy as fuck.

Perfection

>All star trek takes until season 3 to take off.

TOS quality crashes in 3rd season due lower budgets. Results are seen in garbage like space hippies and spocks brain.

Not even close. Try this order.
VOY
ENT
TNG
TOS
DS9
You'll thank me later.

>Having the Maquis plot spoiled by Ba'nana Tortoise instead of the slow build up of DS9
Why would you do that

>It's a Vash ruins a perfectly good Q episode episode

It's gonna be a long journey for you, but you will find great and beautiful episodes.
TNG is the best one. TOS is of course great but probably won't really touch you according to modern tv show standards.
DS9 is mostly good, with occasional great episodes.
But Voyager and Enterprise are not worth it. Try them, see if you want to continue after 3, 5 episodes but if you don't like it by then; drop it.
There are tons of other shows out there much better and you don't need to force yourself to watch those, just to say you did. No one will congratulate you.

Don't listen to the faggots that say to skip the first two seasons of TNG. The only bad episodes in them are Okana and Shades of Grey.

faggot

Start with TNG. Only after all the other shows should you bother touching Kirkshit
.
.

Hahaha just kidding! That's what /r/startrek recommends under any circumstance.

Don't

you need to keep going.

youll realize how influential the series was.

so many references in other media

>All star trek takes until season 3 to take off.

more like leave space dock

TOS has a bit of a mix of good episodes throughout the run, plenty of "classic" moments throughout, but I wouldn't say any one season is a particular standout. It's just because of the way it was produced I guess, they pretty much just hired established pulp sci-fi writers to write episodes, so none of them really fit together or had any overarching storyline.

TNG has some pretty great episodes in the first season, but it doesn't really hit it's stride until season 2. There's a steady improvement over the course of the show, for sure though, the multi-part episodes in the later seasons are some of the best television ever produced.

DS9 has a few good episodes early on too, "Duet" in the first season being a standout and setting the tone pretty nicely for the rest of the show, but it's all laying groundwork for the Dominion to appear in Season 3. Definitely still my favourite Trek show.

Voyager is a little tougher to judge, but it does get better after Seven of Nine turns up, the storylines get a bit more creative but it never hits the same level as the previous shows.

Enterprise is a bit of shitshow for the first two seasons, they didn't really know what kind of show it was going to be. Season 3 changed it around with the heavily serialised storyline, which was pretty cool, but nowhere near as satisfying as DS9 in terms of ongoing storylines. Season 4 was actually pretty great, shorter serialised story arcs, but with great new ideas and stories that hooked into already established Trek lore. Pity they cancelled it when they did, hoping Discovery takes a similar view.

TNG should be mandatory viewing for any TV/Sci-fi enthusiast.

I'd also strongly recommend DS9, there's some comfy as fuck episodes there.

to what end did having 2 different star trek shows on simultaneously serve?

Get a life, faggot.

fuuuuuckk

toppest of keks

Either watch everything in order
OR
Top 10 TOS
TOS movies
TNG - pick & choose until season 3 then everything until season 7 (some real dogs...)
First Contact

From there, decide for yourself if you want to explore any other series.
