Colombia was very depopulated when the Spaniards arrived, Ecuador did not, So the Spaniards were forced to populate the coasts with Africans, If you look at the situation of the Colombian cities you will notice that they are as a road from Peru since it was simply a transit point for Peruvian silver; In addition, Colombia never received significant numbers of immigrants as was the case in Argentina.

Cartagena was a very important port, there were many pirates attacks and attacks during wars to it, and spaniards prefered to live in the mountains at high altitudes where the weather is nice and not super tropical.
Also, blacks didnt die from yellow fever in those kinds of places as often as euros. they resist tropical weather and tropical diseases better.

no, northwest Pacific ecuador (Esmeraldas) is black, as is the coastal southwest and west of Colombia.The Andean part of Ecuador is the native one, and Guayaquil is more mestizo and white, but it's much further south of Esmeraldas.

the east of colombia is the llanos (plains), it's sparsely populated and full of cattle ranchs, it was pretty remote and it has nothing to do with Brasil (there is the Amazon in between). The slave trade happened in the Caribbean coast mostly (Cartagena).

not really, Colombia was the most populated area of the Americas after Peru/Mesoamerica, we had many different tribes, some of them with a very complex society like the Muiscas, but most of the native population lived in other parts but the Pacific coast, and they weren't used to live there so slaves were brought to these areas.

Brazil crime rate is 26 per 100k inhabitants, we're at 24 per 100k as we speak and it keeps going down. Also it depends on the region. There are whole regions where violence is almost nonexistent. Tbh violence is concentrated in just a couple hotspots and the rest of the country is pretty safe for tourism

It's not quite safe yet, but the really bad violence migrated to Mexico. Now we are left with common crime, which is pretty high, but can't never be as vicious as cartel war.
I wouldn't say that we're safer than Brazil. Overall, we are in similar levels, and you must know what region/city you are talking about to make a meaningful comparison.
The black population in Colombia is mostly in the pacific coast, in the departments of Choco and Nariño (the west, yes). These regions were just too difficult to colonize, and it was just not lucrative. So, when black slaves escaped, they had to move somewhere were they wouldn't be bothered, and this region was the best option, and so they created their towns, called palenques.
The slave trade happened mostly in the atlantic coast. The east of the country is composed of the plains, that eventually lead to the border with Venezuela.
The ports of Buenaventura and Tumaco are totally fucked up. Don't go there ever.
Most cities are safe enough that just common sense is enough to navigate them. Even if you fuck up, you'll probably just loose your cellphone and cash (mugging or pickpocketing). Cali is kind of the exception, as its unsafe zones are kinda worse.

The plains, the pacific coast, the darien gap and zones like the Macarena mountains are unsafe because of armed conflict and narcotrafic reasons. Mostly large extensions of wilderness and absolutely backwater settlements.

Yes, those are safe places. Amazonas department is safe regarding crime, but there is just like one town that connects with the rest of the country (Leticia). You can try staying in a hotel there and do some eco tourism stuff. Idk if its worth the money, but it's safe.
