I've been studying Japanese for 2 and a half years at college. My knowledge is still pretty basic, so I don't think I would be able to hold a conversation for more than a couple of minutes.
My current teacher is Japanese, and she has told me a few times that I should try doing shodô. She says that I can write kanji "better than some Nihon-jin", but she says that my hiragana isn't good.
