it's fucking trash

...

There is a sound on Maps that sounds like a squeaking chair and it frustrates me. And My Warm Blood goes on for just a tad too long.

Maybe not relly a flaw, but this album would be great for relaxing if it wasnt for samurai sword. I like the song, but it kind of ruins the soft, calming, psychedelic atmosphere the album creates up to that point. Great album tho.

that's a ten, but to me 10!=flawless, so, some songs are forgettable. but to me it adds to it like The White album

...

...

it doesn't really exist

unnecessary drop shadow

not very original.

terrible shading

Not an attack, but please tell me which albums are similar?

Microphones - Lanterns (with audience sing-along)

I need sauce.

What's your fav song off of Smile?

Probably Surf's Up, and then Wind Chimes + Vege-Tables

well constructed opinion, user.

>fag

It lacks flow

...

Too repetitive

...

the stereo version suck-diddly-ucks

noice. Mine's surf's up too

What is it, Sup Forums?

the new workout plan

Sauce?

For the-sing along? Sounds like a bootleg

Lanterns itself is on Song Islands and The Glow Pt. 2 (Other Songs & Destroyed Versions).

...

yeah i want to know if there are better recordings or it was just a one time thing that someone happened to bootleg

...

Album as a whole doesn't feel like it's progressing anywhere, which could be good or bad depending on perspective.

Their best work, but I get tiresome of hearing it pretty regularly. In short, shitty replay value.

>Skits

wow you're hilarious

Not what you're looking for, but for what it's worth, if you like the sing-a-long thing and you haven't heard Mount Eerie's Singers, you should check that out too.

try me

>you haven't heard Mount Eerie's Singers, you should check that out too.

i have not. will do.

faggy

nice opinion.

>no factual evidence that it's bad tho?
>kek

why is this the only matt elliott album posted when his others are better? Is it because youtube doesnt rec those?

its hard because that was my favorite album for a few years but you cant deny its faggy

just because it's "faggy" doesnt mean it is not good. jesus dude...

The Beastie Boys are actually of jewish background

yeah it does you fag

that song's great though

Some of the best bits are really short

It doesn't experiment nearly as much as Death Grips albums before it. It ends up feeling like more of what we got from The Money Store done again than something new.

It's a little too long
Some samples are a little dumb
No relistening value
2edgy4me
feels incomplete, but it can't really do anything about that
Mike Love is on the album
The song "Eye"
too many skits
The song "Some Things We Do"
Very boring
All over the place
It has some lame samples

hissing fauna contains a lot of lyrics about girls. how is that faggy, user?

basically
my opinion>yours

I think it's poorly arranged
aw cmon you don't like SAMURAI PHIL (WATCHA)
maybe it's because i'm not a fan of BoC at all, but all the songs were the opposite lengths from what they should have been
kind of disjointed, still a legend
the instrumentals are pointless and lifesaver
shadows of tomorrow is too short
inb4 "gay album"
the past is a grotesque animal is too long
kind of boring

>not realizing that's the whole point of this board

No it's kind of a civil thread really.

AND OH YEAH BISTRO IS WASTED POTENTIAL

one who posted it here. desu I always thought the past is a grotesue animal is one of my favorites. it is a bit long, but I still enjoy the lyrics a lot.

First track is a little too long

EYE. FUCKING EYE

...

...

Mortal Man as a song is just decent

Lazily written and executed, obscenely uninteresting

2: Remake

It's jazz.

The whole ablum just tries way too draw these grad conclusions and concepts. The poem thing is so forced and is such a weak way of tying the album together.

Mount Eerie exists.
Samples are boring.
It got released 45 years too late.
Too short.
Samples don't make much sense.
Late Registration exists.
Shittier version of The Seer.
It's Death Grips.
Some beats are uninteresting.
The improvisation drags at parts.
Some features are weak as shit.

>Mount Eerie exists.
how is that a flaw tho

nigga what
the piano and sax are fucking smooth man

...

...

The only flawless one itt

it doesn't have any good songs

What the fuck are "boring samples"?

lol

It's not Slanted & Enchanted

bait

not a reason

DG played it too safe
Beach Boys have never been good and Pet Sounds is no exception. Except Sloop John B. tho.
theres literally nothing wrong with this album
that stupid fucking poem thats repeated over and over. Also Alright.

too long

the production isn't as interesting as TMS.

BREATHE IN BREATHE OUT

this guy can't rap for shit

instrumentals that don't need to be there

front loaded album, track 7 really brings down the album

first five minutes are low-tier

yawn

it's a 10/10

...

Sags in the middle a bit too much. By themselves, the mansion, two somethings, and I'll not contain you (maybe, but not as much, The gleam pt. 2 as well) are good songs. In the context of the album though, I feel like they slow down and completely stop the momentum the album had until then. Last half is fantastic though.

>getting buttblasted over a dumb joke reply
It wasn't meant to be some le inttelectual argument

...

BUMP

>only 2 good songs
>perfect

im laughint

o i am laffin at these

...

perfect

The Glow Pt. 2 used to be one of my fav albums but the more I listen to it I realize that it's pretty inconsistent.

The best songs on the whole album are the first three, which on an album of 20 songs, is kind of a problem. The instrumental tracks are cool but don't sound like much past recording experiments, along with songs like My Roots Are Strong and Deep, I'll Not Contain You, and My Warm Blood, which to me end up being more about the sonics than the actual songwriting.

All in all, the album is still quite good but not a 10. The production is impeccable, the performances are unique and memorable, the lyrics are very imaginative, I have a lot of good things to say about the album but it's more like a solid 7 or 8/10 to me.

Best tracks
>I Want Wind to Blow
>The Glow Pt. 2
>The Moon
>You'll Be In the Air
>I Felt Your Shape

only flawless one so far

It ends

There are legitimately terrible songs on this album. How could you think this is a 10?

Songs could've been more refined- lots of empty space used for effect to heighten the other songs.
I could go my whole life without hearing Hey Ladies again and be completely happy.
Like others have said, bad replay value
It's not the real version of Smile.
It's not Smile
I don't really want to sit down with any album for more than an hour and a half- especially if that album isn't Soundtracks for the Blind.
Their literal worst record- it's just noise.
Overrated beyond belief.
I feel like this is the default answer, but Night Zombies is kind of meh, and a bit cringey.
Not nearly as interesting as S&E.
Hood Politics is shit. Mortal Man is almost too much of a bragging moment, which feels out of place on a record where Kendrick makes himself out to be so conflicted.
Listening Wind is just nowhere near as good as any of the other tracks.
It's a little one-dimensional dynamically.
First track is by far the best track.
It Aint Easy
Bel Air is too meandering for my taste.

name one bad song on College Dropout

>Laughing Stock
>one-dimensional dynamically

You have no idea what you're talking about

Bring Me Down is terrible. Kanye put the shittier version of Diamonds from Sierra Leone on the album.

Breathe in Breathe out

>Breathe in Breathe Out

Okay, so it's just that your opinion is wrong

I said a little. It's not super dynamic- there a moments where it gets pretty loud like on Ascension Day, but most of it stays fairly mezzo piano.

That's literally the best criticism I could think of. It's a hard album to put down.

>a little god in my hands
>oxygen

Music Has The Right To Children

t. Steve Albini

It's too perfect to warrant criticism

also note the trips that nod to the '666' geometry of the album
